The Dos and Don'ts of Heroic Quests !

The next few posts are going to include what you should and shouldn't do while roleplaying in a quest, as well as additional information you may find helpful.

The Basics !

Ah, quests. They're what many campers dream about one day attending and that leave quite a few never to be seen from again. Usually, it's kind of super important they get completed. In Camp Jupiter, quests are rarely ever assigned, and only ever if the Augur says that the time is ripe for a specific quest or if it is specially issued. When they are, there are some things both legionnaires and usernames should be aware of.

If you'd like to start a quest, then awesome! To begin with, you should have a thorough outline of what you'd like to happen during the quest - going into it only on an idea and otherwise blind isn't really recommended for a successful quest. Once you've got a storyline in your head or on paper, head on over to the Quest Suggestions thread and follow the instructions in the first post. There will be more details in the thread.

Due to the rarity of quests, even if the Augur states that a quest is necessary or should be headed by a specific person, the Senate must meet as many times as necessary to approve or reject the quest. (Obviously, if your quest is approved by the guild, it will have been approved by the Senate.) Quests must be headed by a character of Centurion rank or higher; if the character you'd like to go on your quest is just a regular legionnaire, tough love - you'll have to accept or ask for a Centurion or Praetor to lead it. (We are not repeating a Frank Zhang commotion, got it?) It's tradition for three campers to attend a quest, but exceptions may be made, depending on the prophecy or situation. The members of the quest will also be approved by the Senate.

If your quest has been approved, the next step is creating a recruitment thread. Here, you'll post the lovely little form from Quest Suggestions that you made, as well as any additional information you'd like members to know. You can pick and choose who you'd like to be on the quest; it can either be first come, first serve, or you can put up a form of your own so that you may review the different characters offering their services. It's up to you! Once you have all the people that you need, officially close the thread with a post.

Now that recruitment's all finished, you can finally begin your quest! You can start a different thread for the actual quest and feel free to decorate the first few posts if you like, but make it clear that the actual quest is in that thread. The roleplay may begin at the discretion of the quest creator.** It's recommended that there is some semblance of a posting order for users to abide by in a quest. No characters other than those on the quest may post unless given permission by the quest creator. Same goes for gods - if you want an immortal to show up to help or hurt them, make sure to ask the creator of the quest first. The only reason I ask this is so that there aren't any unexpected interference with major events in the quest.
** NOTE: The quest creator is not necessarily the leader of the quest. It will always be the one to make the recruitment and roleplay thread. The quest leader is the character that is of Centurion rank or higher that was chosen by the Senate to lead it.

For quest members, once the quest and its members are approved, the Senate will also decide on what supplies may be granted to support its success. These may include money, weapons, food, transportation, and magic. This will vary per quest. The beginning of the quest will begin somewhere in Camp Jupiter before the questers venture outside of its borders. If the quest succeeds, the campers will be welcomed home to cheers of victory, praise, and a feast. If it is unsuccessful, those who return will be disgraced and dishonored within the ranks of the Romans. No pressure.

Just a couple more things that are important. The amount of quests that may occur at a time is currently unlimited. Also, characters on quests may post in other threads as well, as it is a separate part of roleplay from threads such as events and Temple Hill. They are just not allowed to mention quests outside of the actual quest thread until it has been completed. You may also have more than one character on a quest, as long as the quest creator approves. All guild rules still apply to quests.

The Dos !

Use quests for plotting! Plot like crazy! They're wonderful opportunities for character development and to build lasting relationships with others.

Please be active! Seriously, way too many good quests die because people stop posting on a regular basis. If you can't post for a time, just inform the quest creator. If things are getting boring, suggest a way to spice things up!

Read other posts thoroughly so that you don't miss anything happening. A lot of things can happen in a single post, and while mistakes are forgiven, blatant carelessness is a little harder to overlook.

Have fun! There's a lot of rules, but that's really the whole point of these things.

The Don'ts !

Don't godmod or I may just decide to have Armageddon descend on your a**.

Keep rules in mind while posting. They apply to every forum in the guild, not just threads for solely the camp.

Don't make a recruitment thread or roleplay thread without going through the process of getting approval first. I know it can be somewhat of a hassle, but it's there to keep things organized and neat. Anarchy isn't a fun way to live.

Don't drop off the face of the earth without prior warning, or just stop posting. I haven't seen a single quest finish all the way to the end, and I'm really hoping that someone in this guild will change that.

Anything new added will be posted in red.
