Bahamut walked out of the kingdom, so dark and unforgiving, still hearing the swears and insults of people, the thoughts clouded his mind, he saved the Queen's Daughter, everyone was celebrating . . . everyone but him. His heart, beating lowly, being so cold and forgotten, he cant continue being like this, his weak heart was giving up. He stepped through the gates with his head down and his hands behind his back, as he left the kingdom, there was a point where he did something he never had done in his life, he stopped, and looked back at the kingdom for a moment. His broken heart beated slowly before he looked away and a tear fell from his eye, when it hit the ground, it burned the dirt below leaving a small patch of ash on the ground. He continued walking, trying to forget this had even happened. No matter what he will do in this world, people will always see him as a demon, a cruel unforgiving beast, a monster of death and war.

He walked all the way to a dark and ruined castle, the place he considered home. So dark and cold, no one was there, no guards, no citizens, no one, not even a ghost would haunt this place. Dust covered the walls and floors, some pictures were on the walls but covered in dust and regrets. He walked endlessly through his palace, until he got to the center room under the castle, it was empty, only a few candles were around the room, as he walked into the center of the candles a dark black flame was lit on all of them as he sat down with his legs crossed, he closed his eyes and began to meditate, trying to have peace in his life, it was difficult for him to become a being, but his role was important in this world, even though no one will ever see it. There hasnt been one person that has thought of good in him, now there might because he saved someone, but that's only because he saved her if she even thinks of him good now, but there was more to it than that.

Lana looked out her window, looking for the great dragon that had saved her. But alas, he was already gone, a sea of people gathered through the village. Shouts and cheers echoing in merriment due to her safe return. She would've thought her savior would be up on a pedestal, being thanked and celebrated but instead the celebration was fixated on her.

Lana sighed sadly. She'd never gotten to thank him, she didn't think she'd even caught his name. The great creature that had saved her life. She went over to her door, opening it just as her mother was about to. Her mother embraced her tightly "I'm so glad you're ok" she said before pulling back "come. We're going to greet the people she said as she tugged at Lana's arm. Lana held her ground "I'd really rather not..." she said, her mind once again wandering to the dragon

"Don't be ridiculous, come outside" Lana's mother argued, pulling Lana outside to another loud cheer. Lana sighed, she wasn't interested in this. She smiled and nodded as she was supposed to and once the enthusiasm died down she was able to mix into the crowd. She donned her cloak to keep people from acting any differently around her when she started to hear others talking "Did you hear who saved the princess?"
"No, who"
"It was Bahamut"
"What! No way in hell could it have been him! He'd have killed her if he'd gotten the chance"
"That's not what I heard, I heard he brought her back here"
"Well one good act doesn't excuse him, lets just be thankful he didn't turn on her and that he left so quickly"

Lana furrowed her brow. They were talking about Bahamut, her rescuer, as if he were some sort of monster. When in fact he'd been the exact opposite. Now Lana had always been sheltered from most of the town's gossip. Being in the castle away from everyone, she'd never heard the stories and rumors about Bahamut

Lana weaved her way through the crowd, trying to watch her step when suddenly there seemed to be a break in the hustle and bustle of everybody. People were gasping and clearing a path for somebody. Lana couldn't see over the taller people in front of her but tried to make her way to the front. Unfortunately somebody stepped back whom was much bigger than her. She fell on the ground, landing on her butt with her hands behind her. The person hadn't even noticed what he'd done, his focus was on something else entirely. Lana's annoyance was replaced with curiosity

Lana started weaving her way through the crowd, careful not to push anybody or draw attention to herself. She tried to peak her head through people but constantly found herself blocked. A large path was being cleared for somebody though Lana couldn't tell who it was. She finally worked her way towards the front of the large crowd to see none other than, Bahamut. A small smile coated her lips but was quickly replaced with surprise as people in the crowd were hissing into eachother's ears, careful not to let the beast hear. That's when one brave soul shouted "What are you doing here?" at the dragon. Lana furrowed her brow's sending a glare out but not knowing where the voice had come from. Why did they seem so angry he was here? He was a hero

Lana could feel her anger bubbling as her own people shunned and attacked her rescuer. He just took it, nobly ignoring the trash and food thrown at him by the people. But Lana couldn't just idly stand by like this. She pulled down her hood and took a deep breath to gain the air to shout over the crowd "STOP IT" Lana ran out behind Bahamut, facing the crowd as to sort of block him from anyone who may have not heard her.

The crowd all but froze. What was their princess doing? "You all act so high and mighty, channeling your hatred onto this being as if he were the cause of all your problems" Lana spoke with a dissapointed glare "I wonder if you would all act this way if you were to know he was my rescuer" A small wave of murmurs swept through the crowd "That's right, this 'beast' saved my life and returned me home safely, something our own warriors could not do. He is a hero, and should be treated as such"

Lana felt Bahamut's hand on her shoulder as she asked her to leave it alone she could hear the sadness in his voice which only made her angrier. "No, they have no right to treat you this way" she protested once again looking at her own people. "You've never done anything to anyone and they treat you as if you've caused the plague" she addressed. He was selfless enough to let the people do as they wished to him but Lana wasn't, she wouldn't let there be a scapegoat. This treatment on somebody who was guilty, fine, but not on Bahamut...
