Located on the seventh floor of one of the towers, the entrance is guarded by a painting
of a woman in a pink dress, affectionately known as 'The Fat Lady'. Even in fear, she
refuses to open to anyone without the correct password. Inside is a warm, welcoming
room, with a fireplace in the center. Sofas are set surrounding the hearth, and in one
corner armchairs surround a small chess table. Opposite, there are tables at the edges
used for Fred and George's experiments, studying and/or a nice game of Exploding Snap.
It is lit by a large candle chandelier, and its walls are covered with thick scarlet curtains,
softening the stone. The wooden floor is covered by a large carpet in the center of the
room. A painting of Godric Gryffindor is on one wall. On each side are staircases to the
girl's and boy's dormitories.
