Before the party began their journey to save Hydron, they were just heroes on vacation. However, like all the best hero stories, the happy ending was far too short-lived. A new mission for Hydron's Army was commissioned in the midst of a celebratory ball in Ankheg, by Maxim himself, aloft a destructive hell-bent tidal wave. Figures.

The white flowing drapes along the Ankheg Royal Ballroom swayed gently in the wind as a delighted populace of the wealthy and particularly "important" folk danced about (along with a rather great many who simply knew how to get a guard drunk). Rubbing shoulders with the social and politically elite, newly appointed Royal Adviser and former partial-savior-of-the-world, Vier Brandt, found himself struggling to find some alone time with his "associate", Kaiyoko Lamia. The two were sharing a drink by the snack bar, a rare treat of the night, when a familiar face appeared from behind one of the drapes. A dark face, with crimson eyes, and distinctly white locks---one that looked intent and purposeful.

"Man, it is SO nice to get a chance to breathe away from all those ric---AZ?!"

Kaiyoko caught Vier's astonished gaze over her shoulder, accompanied by a near-miss with his drink.

This party was about to get a LOT more interesting.

The woman to whom the crimson eyes belonged suddenly snapped out of the intense focus they'd been in and locked on the bard. The Miraian's face broke into a wide grin, and she swaggered over.

Azrael Saar Ravenwood, Chaos Sorceress extraordinaire, was wearing an ice blue, flowing floor length gown, accented by silver jewelry, the most fantastic piece of which was a hair decoration formed to look like a dragon's wing behind her left ear. Finally, something that wasn't red and black. It may have taken a long time, but it seemed Vier had finally knocked some amount of style into her. Not that she was going to wear some of the things he'd designed for her in public ever again.

It'd been most of a year since she'd last seen her friend, and she was quite excited to be able to talk to him again....if while keeping some things to herself, thank you very much.
"Vier!" She exclaimed, surprise happiness bubbling in her voice. "How are you!" She embraced him as the old friend that had literally faced death with her that he was, and stood back to look at him again, holding the shorter man by the shoulders. "It's been so long and--Why haven't you written me?" she asked, her voice suddenly changing to reflect the annoyance on her face.

"Azrael?!" Vier nearly shouted in disbelief. For one, he hadn't heard from her since the group split, just after their defeat of Shardaxis. He'd sent letters, but they never seemed to reach their destination, returning or going unanswered. And, after a while, he'd stopped writing, deciding he'd simply have to wait for her to take the initiative to speak first, either to him or Kessel, whom he doubted would go too long without contact herself. The alarm on his face (and on the floor now as well), however, didn't mask any of the exquisite glee he felt in seeing his nearest and dearest friend. The fact that he hadn't seen Azrael in anything so glamorous was merely a bonus. A big bonus, mind you, but just a bonus nonetheless.

"I---letters---who got you in that dress?!" he stammered, spilling the remaining contents of his cup onto the marbled floor while rushing in for a tight, friendly hug.

"Vier," the tall, shapely half-elf with strawberry locks cooed, "Who's your friend?" Kaiyoko neatly sidestepped the pool of sweet juice Vier had spilled to rest her hand on his shoulder and face the dark elf before her. Her simple, yet seductive red dress slipped open at the slit near her thigh as she leaned against him, resting her bosom on his arm whilst maintaining eye-contact with the mysteriously dark elf-looking woman before her. Something about this woman's gaze at Vier, her nigh exotic confidence and comfort with him, gave Kaiyoko the distinct impression of becoming the third wheel on her own date. And that just wasn't going to happen.

Azrael locked gazes with the redhead, gave the other woman a swift once-over, smirked, and promptly dismissed her, turning back to Vier, smiling and waving his question away with one hand.

"Oh, you know. There was this dressmaker who's shop was in the path of a rampaging necromancer--save the town, eternal gratitude, free stuff for the rest of my life...." She swished the skirt of the gown back and forth a little, and it moved like water, revealing a sudden slit of its own that went midway up her thigh. Her hair swayed a bit with it, half up in loops that it was, the long, loose sections gracefully hanging well past her waist. "So, when I mentioned I had a gala to be at here in Ankeg..." Her smile turned slightly sad. "He just sort of lit up, like a human Hydron." Azrael trailed off for a second, memories of their fallen friend flickering through her mind. Then she promptly decided to put them aside, and went back to being cheerful. "Anyway!" She motioned at his own outfit, her tone becoming slightly teasing. "I take it the Raven is doing well? And to get a ticket here...you've gotten into politics, haven't you?"
PostPosted: Wed Jun 26, 2013 12:33 pm

"Yeah, sort of, I guess," Vier responded with small blush a grin that bespoke of some pride, "The prince here needed a 'hero' type to do some consulting every once in a while, so I figured the income could help out the inn, and the opportunity to get involved in my community was pretty sweet, too, hehe!" For a moment he nearly forgot his manners, but knowing his very life was likely on the line, he quickly remembered them. "Oh, so sorry, forgive me. Kaiyoko, this is Azrael Ravenwood, an old friend of mine from my traveling days," Vier said in his usual tone, but lightly frosted with a tinge of 'oh goodness, you're going to kill me, aren't you.' Being settled in looked good on him, and the glow of that life emanated like red hot beams of sunshine. The glow almost covered the bags under his eyes. Continuing on he said, "And Azrael, this is my, ummm...," before pausing, apparently lost in all the red blush flooding his cheeks.

"I'm his girlfriend, Kaiyoko Lamia," the redhead said, noting her earlier dismissal from Azrael, emphasizing the word 'girlfriend.' "Vier's told me all about you; so good to finally meet you," she responded cordially but laced with the icy venom appropriate for meeting a boyfriend's 'ex', as she saw it. "I've met Kessel Vasilievich, your another of your comrades I believe? She's a delight; we spend a lot of our free time together in town." Kaiyoko eyed Azrael's gown in an appraising fashion, and met the Dark Elf's dismissing eyes once again. Kaiyoko knew this game; she'd played it often enough herself, but she how she hated being ignored. And she couldn't help but feel a little intimidated by this 'new' woman's arrival, with her swishy gown and exotic frame. As if things hadn't been hard enough lately with Vier and his *illness*, and work, and the prince's politics, and everything; now there was this woman to contend for his attentions as well.

"Vier, darling, I hate to interrupt your reunion, but I'm a little parched and I'd love to talk dress with your friend. Would you mind refilling my drink?" Kaiyoko spoke with a genuinely sweet smile, the one that usually hid the fangs about to strike. As if on cue, Vier saw the smile, and seeing Azrael's easy, complacent grin, decided it was time to step aside. The ball was already rolling, the best he could do was get out of the way before it crushed him like a boulder. "So, Azrael, tell me about yourself. I've heard Vier's stories, the boat fires, the time you gave something incredibly valuable to a dangerous dragon, and all the times you shot him. But I'm sure there's so much more, and I love a good adventure story," she grinned with malice.

Azrael couldn't help but notice that while Vier looked better not being chased by an angry dragon, something about him seemed a little off, but she'd have to ask him about that later, especially with Jessica Rabbit here sending him around like her errand boy. She'd never say it to his face, but Vier deserved more respect than that. She couldn't help but smirk at the girl having to proclaim her own title. Girlfriend, eh? He didn't seem too sure about that, man with his confidence. When she spoke, it was with a slight laugh obviously meant to needle the redhead.
"Vier's been telling stories, eh? Did he mention the number of outfits he's designed and forced me into during our adventures? Dancer's costumes, mostly. It was hard to get everyone to stop staring, there was so little cloth." She stretched just then, in place like a cat, showing off her own well-formed, willowy and if somewhat slightly less voluptuous frame in an intensely feminine and slightly suggestive manner, smiling languidly. "Not that I was wearing them for long."

"So I've heard," Kaiyoko responded with a genuine chuckle. Really, they had a lot in common, from what she'd heard. A lot abotuthem was clearly from opposite worlds even, but still, maybe that was what concerned her so much. She'd finally found a man who respected her and wanted her for everything she was and could be, but she couldn't let herself enjoy it. Instead, she tried so hard not to entertain the idea that she was 'Azrael Mark Two'. A exotic romance that had fizzled in the friend zone and found a rebound in the first hot elf he met tending bar. Insecurities were such a weakness, yet, with all the stress building up and the fights they'd been having the last couple of days, she was really hoping to spend some tiem out with him tonight. Some lite time, just the two enjoyign a night out amongst mostly strangers in at a lovely ball. She even convinced herself the ball was really just for them with some political pretext in place to legitimize the taxes spent on the occasion. Ah well, just a romantic fantasy, anyways.

"Yes, I've seen some of his work...it's not exactly the kind of clothing most respectable women would wear out in public, but then again, I suppose you aren't most women," she quickly followed, swallowing back the irony of how many times she'd done the exact same thing for the exact purposes they had done. "However did you fill them out with such humble...ness? Vier's designs are always so well tailored, if not a little hopeful."

Oh really? "Well, as I said, he didn't exactly give me much of a choice in the matter--or Tyranna, as it happens, especially when he convinced Nidon's army that we were a band of entertainers. And I'll admit, I may not have to worry about suffocating anyone when I give them a hug or fitting into tight spaces to hide when I've got a Kalaxian on my tail as much as some," She looked pointedly at the girl's overly pronounced bosom "but three years on the long road traveling this world, combined with the number of times I've had to save his life, Vier is more than familiar with my curves." Az looked over at a waiter circling the crowd some twenty feet away, and flicked her wrist in his direction, sending a gentle surge of wind over. A drink on the platter soared over the gathering and to her hand. She took a sip, then asked, "Though, I must say, they're good work. Who's your Aritificer?"

Kaiyoko couldn't help but feel a rise in her cheeks, one that surely began to match her dress and hair, as Azrael's drink whizzed near by head and into the Drow's hand. Two could play at that game.

"Oh, trust me, I'm all natural," she said with a bustle of her bust that sent a spilling gust towards the remainder of Azrael's drink. "Only what my momma gave me. What did your momma give you?"

Vier, having been shortly distracted by a table of interesting looking little entrees looked over his shoulder to see Azrael sipping a drink before abruptly spilling it an the floor. "The staff must hate us tonight," he thought, but only for a moment as he watched the whirlwind begin to surround the girls. Kaiyoko's long red ponytail was flowing straight up, as were Azrael's curls, and the girls seemed locked in a battle to keep their skirts down just enough in the rushing gusts. No hands.

Sigh.

It was such a nice evening, too.

"Magic breasts? Now I've seen everything!" Azrael laughed as wildly as the gale that was surrounding them. "By the Nine you're so easy!" Out of habit, Az fingered the mark on her left bicep, a souvenir of a near-death experience that had linked her forever to her bodyguard. With her mind, she touched the magic that surrounded it, and sent to Ix the quick thought of She started it!.
Azrael rose up on the winds, summoning cold to her hands as she held them, palm over palm in front of her chest.
"Окружет!"
A trio of seven-foot high stalagmites made of solid ice appeared within six inches of the hothead, surrounding her and dropping the temperature in the immediate area by about 30 degrees in less than ten seconds.

"Clearly not," Kaiyoko quipped leaping up and away from the frozen stalagmites to match eyes with the drow. "火の涙," Kaiyoko whispered, glowing orbs of fire fluttering down from her hair onto the ice below, melting them into puddles. Light seemed to flicker from her eyes as the heat began to emanate from her very being, the orbs of fire dancing like will o' wisps about her in ever expanding arcs.

"Now, now," Kaiyoko cooed, arching an eye brow in mockery, "no need to be a frigid bitz. Might be why you never hear from your 'friends'. Best to be nice and warm."

As the temperature around Kaiyoko raised, the pallor of her skin began to trickle in beads of sweat. Her glistening skin seemed to glow with the light of the fires dancing around her. Then her skin did glow, but not with fire. With lightning. "

Vier watched from a short distance, nearly as awed as the onlookers, who by now must be convinced the display was some great show put on by the prince. The guards, however, seemed less thrilled, and though held at bay by the awestruck prince (whom Vier had quickly convinced that this was just two performers showing off before an audience) kept a steady watch on the two women, still floating in the air. Vier, and, truth be told, all of the hall's attendants watched the winds continue to dance around them as fragments of warm light and crystalline, snow-like shards fluttered down below the women.

"If Azrael is here, Ix mustn't be too far behind; I've got to find him. I'm sure he can talk her down from this while I try to cool Kiayoko's head," Vier thought, but too late. Already Kaiyoko was gradually beginnign to give off a familiar glow, one not familiar with her, actually, but with Azrael.

Vier's stomach dropped to the floor as a feeling of nostalgia and fear swept over him.
PostPosted: Thu Jun 27, 2013 12:12 am

"There's more to life than making someone feel all hot and sweaty." Azrael shot back, soaring higher "But I guess if that's all you know..." She watch the girl start to sweat and glow, and could feel the energy being drawn towards the redhead. The Chaos Sorceress's eyes and grin widened, and she crowed with laughter. "Oh, child, you want to play with lightning?" Her grin took on a very sudden, familiar, wolfish quality, and she dove, spinning, at the other sorceress. "Cумерки!"

Darkness unexpectedly encompassed the catfight in a dome of impenetrable obscurity, keeping the audience from seeing what was happening while also blinding the newcomer to Azrael's movements. Azrael, for her part, had summoned the cloud of darkness and teleported a split second before crashing into the redhead, reappearing behind her and hissing, "Oгонь!"

Az, though she was the only one that could see it, abruptly flared with a purple glow as she turned into a cloud of hyperactive traces of lightning and rushed straight at the girl's spine.

The darkness surrounding Kaiyoko was palpable. Was this 嵐雲? It seemed so similar and yet---the sharp pain sprung into Kaiyoko's spine, immediately spreading through her limbs. She felt the surge of power, chaotic, but spritely electric, rushing through her skeleton and then suddenly phase out as she finished sparking herself. For a brief moment the two were a tangle of electric energy, lost forms intertwined in the basest of elements. Kaiyoko took opportunity of the opposing charges between them to repulse them both and bolted herself back to the ground, reforming to her physical body. "That hurt," she thought to herself. "Another second longer to form and I could've been toast. Literally," the continued out loud, standing up as the darkness around them began to dissipate.

"Or, you know, maybe not," Kaiyoko chuckled, as the darkness surrounding them began to dissipate. Her eyes, shimmering like stars in the dark night, cut through the remaining darkness and laid directly on Azrael, who also seemed to be standing back in her original placement, and in just too good of condition. "You're a lot stronger than I guessed, but I suppose you'd have to be to do what you've done, right?" Kaiyoko remarked, flipping her staticked hair back into it's typical splendor, releasing a shower of sparks around her. "Gotta admit, I didn't give you nearly enough credit. Where did you learn magic like that?"
