You might think that because of Nikolai's race (or better put, position) he'd be loaded with money. Well... No, not really. He makes a simple living being a teacher at random schools, and taking money from his many exes/suitors. The apartment itself is fairly nice. He rarely uses it, spending his days with his current lover(s), so there's a layer of dust on his things. Sometimes, though, whenever he actually goes to his house, he tends to only watch TV, order some take-out food, and go to sleep. You can find take-out boxes and leftovers blanketing his kitchen (Nikolai tried to cook once, but... each time ended with disaster) and his bed is unkempt.

"Here we are, darling!" Nikolai smiled as he led the Frenchman to the apartment complex. It was a five story building, and it looked fairly nice. It had a banner hanging that had some deal offered to anyone that read it, something each complex had. Frankly, it looked like an apartment building for college students. Perfectly natural for Nikolai, since his job was as a 'college professor' at the college a good few blocks away. Nikolai's apartment was on the third floor, room 38C. He smiled brightly at Mayhew, the boy he saved recently, and led him into his room. "My apologies for the mess, dearie. It's been quite some time since I've been here." he said, his sleepy lime green eyes looking at the Frenchman to see his reaction.

Following after Nikolai, the frenchman found himself distracted by all the odd sights and sounds of this America. Everything was big, large monstrous buildings with clinical walls and people who walked with an air of urgency and small metal devices attached to their ears that they spoke too. "Where are the horses?" On further inspection, he realized the large zooming contraptions were some form of horseless carriage with more people inside! How did it move? They walked passed a fast food restaurant and the smell of deep fried food both made his stomach rumble in hunger and twist in disgust. Food was not meant to smell like that but everyone seemed to be enjoying it. More then once he paused pedestrians because of his odd choice of clothing and those big awestruck eyes that made him look like someone who had never seen a city before which in fact was the case. When they finally made it to the apartment, he watched as people moved about the hallways, disappearing into other rooms. "You... all live together? Are you family?" But his words fell short when they walked into his saviors chambers, looking around in confusion. This place was a mess, it looked more like the inner workings of a shabby Inn then a place of residence. He could smell old food and it made his nose wrinkle. Something about it bothered him greatly and he paused, staring at the mess for a long while before his lip thinned into a determined line and he gave a nod to himself. Alright. He pulled off his jacket and hung it on a peg near the door, rolled up his sleeves and went to the kitchen. This place needed a good scrub but as soon as he got there he was stopped dead in his tracks. He hadn't seen a single well anywhere along the way to the man's house. "Monsieur Nikolai, I'd like to repay you for your kindness by cleaning your home for you but... well I don't know how to clean ... here. I saw to well on my way here and where does the garbage go?"

Nikolai observed Mayhew's reaction to the modern day apartment. He never really imagined what it would be like for someone from the boy's time to be in this modern world. The technology must be astounding, piercing someone's imagination. Nikolai would have pitied the poor man had he not been curious as to what he was doing. Seeing the man fold up his sleeves, Nikolai blinked at Mayhew and followed after him to see him gaze around the kitchen. He stared at him blankly. "You're asking me for cleaning advice?" he murmured to Mayhew with a furrowed eyebrow. Biting his lip, the silver-haired man rubbed the back of his head and looked at the ceiling to give it thought. Cleaning... How long had it been since he even picked up a feather duster? Actually, he wasn't even sure he did so once in his life! The entire concept was foreign to him, and it was times like this that made him grateful for maids and butlers. "Erm.... Oh dear...." Realizing that he really was clueless about anything related to cleaning, Nikolai hastily pulled out a thin black screen, an iPhone. He touched the screen and watched, impatiently, the screen come alive with buttons and lights. He pressed a few until the screen was white except for a small bar and colorful letters that read 'GOOGLE'. He tapped the bar and typed out 'How to clean' and watched as blue lines appeared on the screen. "This should do." he murmured to himself and smiled over at Mayhew. "Here you are, darling." he said while handing him the phone. "Simply touch whatever is blue and it will give you the information you want. My, isn't technology fascinating~?" he giggled.

Taking the item in his hand, the man blinked at it, staring at the screen though he had no idea what it was. "It's so light." He remarked, curiously poking the screen. Something on the screen read 'how to clean anything' and he prodded at the blue words, watching as a new screen loaded. It gave him simple instructions on how to clean up most things but neglected to explain the simple things that were stumping him. "I dont understand..." Handing back the phone dejectedly, he looked around the room. "I don't know where to get water or this cleaning soap that it mentions. What is a garbage bag?"

Sotalean Sorry for the late reply, I had to go to my sister's graduation Feeling as though he had done all he needed to do, Nikolai gave himself a self-accomplished smile and already began walking towards the staircase that would lead to his bedroom. Ah, he could practically hear his bed's call for him, he could envision the soft cushions against his body and the warm blankets snuggled against him as well as the large pillows cradling his head. Nikolai was halfway asleep in his walk alone when he heard Mayhew's confused tone. Freezing in his step, the silver-haired man winced and turned around slowly to see the phone being held out to him. Frowning, Nikolai descended the stairs and took the phone into his own hands. "Dear me, you're going to make me do the cleaning, aren't you?" he groaned while rubbing his suddenly sore temples. With a sigh, Nikolai set the phone on the small, circular table and removed his blazer. Without the black blazer on, all that showed was his white-button up that was half-tucked in. He folded back his sleeves all the way to his elbows, and his right forearm, now visible, had crudely etched letters branded on it that read, 'SLOTH'. "Let's see..." he mumbled to himself while glazing over the instructions. "Let's start with cleaning the floors, hmm?" he suggested with a small smile to Mayhew. "First thing to do is to get a bucket and some gloves." With a long sigh, the slim man got on his knees and opened up a cabinet beneath the sink, which revealed an abundance of bottles with different labels on them, each one promising to clean to the best of their abilities and each one looking brand new. Digging around, Nikolai pulled out a metallic bucket with a pair of yellow rubber gloves on them. Pulling out a spare pair, he stood back up and handed them to the younger man. "Put these on your gorgeous hands, dearie," he instructed while putting his own on. "They'll protect your hands from being marred." As soon as his gloves were on - their length caused his brand to be covered once more - Nikolai put the bucket into the dip on the counter and turned the faucet overhead, watching water spew into the bucket. "Technology today has gone quite far." he murmured to Mayhew while watching the water gradually fill up the bucket. "We've created countless medicines against newfound diseases, we've developed machines that can do more than you could ever imagine," He turned his head and smiled softly at him. "and we can even control water." He turned back to the bucket, half-filled. "Mmm, yes with these advancements anyone could just sit still and let things be taken care of for them. It's a remarkable time for the slothful."
