Lazuli's breath was visible to her eyes only. She had been stuck up in this tree for a day straight now, waiting for her appointed target to cross her path. She had been assigned to ambush and this tree seemed like the perfect spot.
Until night fell, of course.
It was a cold night. Lazuli kept breathing on her hands, knowing- hoping- this would be enough of a surprise. Plank was nestled on her lap, sound asleep. Awoken, however, a moment later, by a growl from Lazuli's belly. "Sorry, Plank. I guess its time for breakfast."
With a quick unzip of her hanging back, nestled in the foliage of the tree, she plucked out a small box. There were little sushis, rice balls and other goodies inside. She used a pair of chopsticks to pick one up, pausing as Plank poked her arm.
"oh alright. You first." She gave him the sushi and helped herself to another, chewing and thinking about what could be holding their target up. The sun was already rising.

As the sun came up, something at the base of a tree a few yards away began to stir. A small, dainty nose rose to sniff the air, catching the sent of raw fish and seaweed. "...Por?" Curious, the owner of said nose raised his head, stretched, and glanced at the starry purple Eevee still asleep beside him.
Careful not to wake the young sleeping pokemon, the water-type rose to his paws and carefully picked his way over her toward the source of the smell. His earfins twitched, listening for sounds when he heard a voice. It was coming from a tree, though not the tree he had been sleeping under. How odd.
Trotting over to where the scent was strongest, the Vaporeon put his paws up on the tree trunk and called to whoever had taken refuge in its canopy. "Por! Poreon!"
