How It Works !

This is where I'll explain just how the games of Siege and Deathball are played and will work within the guild.

Siege !

Siege is similar to the game Capture the Flag played at Camp Half-Blood. It takes place on the Field of Mars, where a new stone fort is built the day before every game that is held. The teams are divided by cohorts: Cohorts 1 and 2 form a team, while Cohorts 3, 4, and 5 form the other. The team defending the fort is the team that has won the last game; the opposing team is allowed to use Hannibal the elephant during the game.

To elaborate a bit more, the engineers build the fort with a variety of devices and machines that can be used to defend it, such as an iron portcullis, guard towers, scorpion ballistae, water cannons, etc. The goal for the cohorts of the offending team is to breach the fortress and find the banners of the defensive team while protecting their own banners and teammates from capture. If the attacking team fails to do this, the defensive team wins. Also, although the cohorts are grouped into teams, the cohorts are still in competition with one another; for example, if Cohort 1 were to breach the fortress, the offensive team (Cohorts 1 and 2, in this case) would win the game, but Cohort 1 would receive all the glory.

The way in which users will be expected to roleplay Siege is relatively simple; there is no battle system that involves dice rolling or the random number generator. Siege will be roleplayed at the discretion of the participants. However, this does not mean members will be allowed to godmod or make the frankly ridiculous happen. If this becomes a problem, a battle system will be put in place.

Since participants will have much more freedom with the way Siege is played, you are expected to read posts thoroughly so as to avoid missing anything important that the user may have had happened in their post. Also, there will be a posting limit/list so that all users receive a chance to post and respond to replies. Individual battles between characters are asked to be discussed with the appropriate members OOC to avoid possible conflict.

Deathball !

Deathball is played on the Field of Mars, and is modeled after the mortal game, paintball. Each game has two opposing teams - red and blue - and despite its name, the goal is not to kill the opponents; merely to mark them, but the stakes are higher and the equipment itself is much more deadly.

The boundaries of the game extend a few yards past the Field of Mars, and are marked by a white line. The dead zone is marked off by a red line, and is located at the west end of the field. The time limit of the game is exactly one hour. The objective of the game is for each team to hit their opponents, eliminating as many individuals from the other team as possible. Eliminated opponents - or those who have been hit in some way - must exit the field and enter the dead zone, where they may be treated for injuries and watch the remainder of the game in safety. Once the hour has ended, the team with the most campers left standing unmarked is declared the winner. A variety of equipment may be used, such as armor, arrows, fireballs, acids, poisons (antidotes will have been provided beforehand), etc. to play.

Again, like Siege, Deathball will be played without a battle system to guide the users and will ultimately be played to the roleplayers' discretion. However, I do not want to see a cannon of doom that kills everyone with the press of a button, or someone that can magically dodge everything that comes their way if it simply doesn't make sense. If this begins happening with the guild, a battle system will be created, and will also limit the amount of freedom members have when roleplaying in war games.

To avoid confusion, be sure to read posts thoroughly if you are participating, and if you have a question, feel free to shoot the specific user a PM. This will avoid something important being missed that could effect your and other characters. A posting limit with also be made after sign ups have closed, which will be explained in the roleplaying thread for the game. If individual conflicts between characters arise, members are asked to discuss their outcomes in OOC.
