The storm had done a remarkable amount of damage. Even two days later, the amount it had undone was nearly as much as the wherhandlers had managed to do in their entire Revolution. Ildresaak was back to little sleep and constant work, but he didn't mind. It gave him something to think about, something other than the fact that a gold had been caught, and there would be eggs on the Sands soon. It was a stupid dream, Standing. He didn't know why he wanted it so badly, since his father had turned out to be a mess and the Weyr was clearly falling apart. But still...it was a dream he had held for turns, and not one he was quite ready to dismiss.
But that was thoughts for another time. Right now, there was work to attend to, and plenty of it. At least for once he and Corloss were working together, sifting through rubble and trying to find timbers that weren't either utterly waterlogged or entirely splintered, sorting what they found into piles, generally
neatening up one of the half-reconstructed outbuildings. It wasn't exactly fun, but the presence of a friend made it less monotonous than it might otherwise have been. They hadn't been doing much talking, but they had never been a particularly chatty pair to begin with. Ildresaak was willing to just move in comfortable silence, occasionally asking Corloss for a hand, but otherwise just enjoying the younger man's presence.
