I was thinking about something that happened years ago today, and I know the rest of you have stories too.... so post 'em here!
Mine takes place in high school. I've always been a solitary, but I had a group of four friends who had formed a little "Wiccan" Circle and celebrated sabbats together. After maybe six months, they had a falling out, and three of these people were very angry with one, and wouldn't say why.
Now I was largely living in a world of my own at this point, and disliked teh dramaz to the extent that I just didn't want to get involved, so all I was aware of was that this girl had done something to really upset the other three.
The wheel was turning, and a few months later I said in passing to the one girl "oh, happy Beltaine!" and she gave me a smile and said "I'm Jewish".
Now I knew she was Jewish, ethnically, but as far as I was aware she was a Pagan. I was shocked and confused. It took me a while to work out the reason my other three friends were so upset is that, while those three had been very serious and dedicated, this one girl had just been playing. She'd been Jewish the whole time and just wanted to play-act. And they never knew until she decided she didn't want to play any more.
It must have been a pretty unpleasant experience to find out someone you'd been holding your sacred rituals with was just in it for the lulz.
