My name is Flinch, or Flin. I no longer go by my real name and I am a Demigod .
I have seen a lot in my 18 years.
My Mortal Parent, Jeanie Kent , raised me from birth.
Though it turns out I am descended from Timor, god of panic fear, flight and battlefield rout
What led to my discovery of all this? Well you see... oh boy where to begin? I was born in the mountains far away from most cities. For the longest time it was just my mother, me and the entire woods. She was an amazing woman despite the fact that she laughed at me a lot. I have always been a scared child. Everything scares me and I kid you not. Still she put up with me and helps me get through it all. Wonderful crazy woman. I swear she is scared of nothing. Something I wish I was. It's my belief it has to do with the dreams I have. No not dreams, nightmares. They are beyond my belief. Ever since I can remember they have plagued me. Bloody fields riddled with corpses in roman armor. Terrible monsters tearing into innocent people. Fighting....blood....death....fear. There were many night my mother cradled me to her chest as I shook my eyes wide with never ending fear. She was everything to me...apparently someone didn't like that. The night was quiet for a blizzard had just laid down several feet of snow. I was in her room that night for the wind had worked me up into a frenzy. It came so quietly we never heard it till it was too late. I'm still not certain what or who attacked us but I was loosing mom. Before she departed this world though she gave me the greatest thing I own. "They're magic." She told me when she put her glasses on to my head. "They are the reason why I fear nothing. As long as you have them you'll be like me, fearless." That's the last time I spoke to her. It wasn't long wandering around in the snow for Lupa to find me. I almost died in the cold out there but somehow I managed to survive to get to the Wolf house. My training began and I had the odd sensation this wasn't new for me. She seemed to laugh at me when I mentioned it too. Silly wolf, love her though. The trip to camp...oh boy what a thrill. My mother was right the damn glasses had to be magic. I wasn't scared of a thing. Camp Jupiter was more then I could ever imagine. So many people! For a child used to no one but his mother it was a bit overwhelming.
I spent my first year there as a new recruit as I had no letter nor a vouch. Oh well life happens right? When I was nine I was brought into the 3rd Cohort thanks to a wonderful voucher. I settled in rather easily but didn't make Centurion until my year of Probatio was up. I tried my best to get there sooner but didn't succeed. Someone else got their act of valor though by saving my butt and several others. Lucky dog. Still I did my best and worked to get my Cohort honor. On my thirteenth birthday I got a hell of surprise. My father, Timor, claimed me. Not many were expecting that. Oh well. Life moved on, I got stronger. This summer I was made co-praetor. That was a hell of a surprise! My first duty had been to go reclaim a lost roman in enemy lands....didn't go to well but Autumn didn't kill me. Last year she went on a mission no one was allowed to know the details of. She has not returned. We had no choice but to elect a new Praetor and I have become the lead since then. I feel like I have stepped up into that roll well I just wish I knew what happened to her...
And that's when I arrived at Camp Jupiter.
Since then, I have been at camp for 10 years.
And I have the rank of Praetor of the 12th Legion
In the Formerly of the 3rd Cohort.
I usually am told I act like a bit eccentric. I come off as very strange and spazzy but trust me I'm not that way. I take my job seriously and I'm not afraid to punish you for disobeying me. I expect for orders to be followed no matter if it comes from myself or my partner. I also understand the need to relax and have fun. Since Autumn vanished I have really stepped up into my role as a leader. I do my best to be fair but not be pushed over. Might I add that I have a bit of a sense of humor despite popular belief. Also beware should I loose my glasses. Due to my....phobias....I get antsy to put it lightly. Most do not like me when I have succumbed to one of my phobias. For the most part though I am a pretty quiet individual. I like peaceful moments of being with these people who are my troops, friends and brothers. I know how to have fun with them but for the most part I enjoy just listening to them tell me about their hopes and dreams. Every time I hear them speak about their lives with such passion I pray they will live to see those wonders they want so badly.
I really like
- A good fight
- Seeing the legion grow
- Music, I'm a big fan don't tell but I do like to sing
- When I have my glasses
- Catching glimpses of my father
- Spending time with the members of the camp
But I hate
- When someone steals and hides my glasses
- People who are all talk and no action
- Getting underestimated
- Snow
- The Augur, they just bother me
- Not knowing what happened to Autumn
And Please don't bring in Pantophobia- Fear of everything, hence why I say don't touch my glasses. But that isn't entirely accurate. I have started to shed my many fears slowly and as time has moved I've found myself less scared and more confident in what I do.
In case I have to fight I have - A Scythe, imperial gold. I won't deny I kinda like the looks on peoples faces when they see me fight. Its magic I won't deny it. I flip it one way it become a standard spear. I flip it the other way and it is my scythe. It was a gift from my father.
- A pair of daggers, one imperial gold the other is pure steel. One can never be too careful.
- Pho, my jackal. I found him one day on the way to New Rome. He hasn't left my side since and is more of a companion then a weapon but it isn't wise to mess with him. He is a war dog be careful should you anger him.
I'm really good at
- Long arms fighting, there are few who can best me when I have my scythe in my hands. That includes people with smaller weapons.
- Guitar, I'm actually very good at it.
- My innate abilities, I have trained with them a lot and have a very good grasp of them
- Endurance
- Thinking on the fly, I've always been quick to adjust a plan when new things come up
But I'm horrible at
- Calming down when the blood lust is on
- Letting people get close to me
- Forgiving and forgetting
- Getting along with children of Mars, they just irk me like I see siblings acting most of the time
- Taking compliments, I get so flustered!
My life at camp is interesting...
I meet a few people, who are my friends
and a few people who are my enemies
- Kim Choe, the Aurgur. Frustrating little pinprick..
Though I kind of like Once I thought Autumn and I might have had something but now I'm not sure who has my heart.
