The witch took Jane away but the parents could not be saved. For years the witch raised Jane, teaching her how to clean and cook as well as sing and dance. Eventually, when Jane was old enough, the witch took the chance to make a profit off of her and sold her to a small group of slavers. The slavers took her away and broke her into being an obedient slave. Something the witch had already started many years ago.
