Kido:
• Umehara never resorts to the usage of Kido, though he has mastered most forms of Bakudo. He will almost never resort to it in battle, for he finds it distasteful.
• Umehara is familiar with healing Kido techniques- but he can only heal small wounds over a great period of time. He has not practiced this ability enough to have perfected it.
Shunpo Level: Captain-Level Shunpo. He is experienced in this field, and the fact that he bears a hollow within him enables him to quicken the speed of his Shunpo. He does not rank on par, however, with specialists like Sui Feng or Yoruichi.
Hakuda: Umehara has a moderate ability in Hakuda. He is able to fend himself off in battle with hand to hand combat, but is nowhere near capable of what some of the Captains are.
Hollow Mask:
Cero: A simple light blue Cero which projects from his right middle finger. It is fairly large and fires in rapid-fire like projectiles. He enjoys flicking others off as a joke before firing the actual Cero.

Shikai Abilities:
• Umehara's keyblade has the ability to crystallize any form of reiatsu or spiritual pressure, including his own. He usually uses this to his own advantage. He can "freeze" opponents who surround themselves with their own reiatsu by crystallizing it. When he does so, he plucks a piece of their reiatsu off and stores it in his collection to remind himself of every battle he has fought in. The color of the crystal depends on the opponent's reiatsu color. His attacks vary on the style in which he projects his reiatsu...
• Divine Crystal Wing (Kesshoshinyoku): Umehara manifests his reiatsu in a certain pattern so that it mimics that of wings. He allows them to stretch out behind him- before finally crystallizing them. Once this is the case, he is able to fly and glide throughout the air. The wings only last for a specific amount of time before the amount of air pressure and weight (combined) cracks the crystal.
• Heavenly Crystal Pillar (Tenkesshō no Hashira): Umehara generates his own reiatsu so that it appears beneath the individual in a complete circle. Rising up, the reiatsu will finally create a column that Umehara solidifies- encasing anything within. This attack is very similiar to Rukia Kuchiki's 'Some no mai, Tsukishiro' technique.
• Angel's Blades (Tenshi no Hane): Umehara manifests his reiatsu in the form of spikes, solidifying them with crystal before launching them off at his targets.

Bankai Call: "Divide into a million mirrors!"
Bankai Appearance: Umehara's reiatsu bursts immensely into a huge dome around himself and his opponent (his reiatsu is a light bluish-purple at this point). He crystallizes his reiatsu so that it becomes a giant reflective dome of crystal. It is inescapable and lasts for about fifteen minutes (half-an-hour when his mask is activated).
Bankai Abilities:
• The dome surrounding Umehara's opponents relflects everything, and therefore can create illusions within the dome. It disorients the opponent entirely, removing their sense of sight and hearing, since everything is echoed around the dome and the sound does not come from any particular area. The opponent will see mirror images of themselves or Umehara himself and respectively may attempt to attack him, only to realize it is a reflection... His bankai is a test of patience. If say, the opponent were to shoot a projectile at one of the walls, the walls would absorb it and shoot it from the other wall behind the opponent. [For example, if you shot a kido to your left, it would get absorbed and shoot back out from the right side of the inside of the dome, so you would end up shooting yourself.] The crystal reflects everything. It is a state of ultimate confusion. Umehara is the only one who is not tricked by the hallucinations, and therefore attacks the opponent with ease. Additionally, Umehara can alter the positioning of the mirror-surface to make the floor seem as if it is moving or spinning- allowing for the opponents to become nauseous.
• The only known method of escape is being able to attack the real Umehara. One might think "If I fly long enough, I will eventually hit the wall." That idea is false, if one were to continue running/flying/moving forward, they would appear at the opposite end of the dome- so they would run indefinitely. The dome reflects everything.
☠ ══════════════════════[ Background Information ]═══════════════════════ ☠
Personality: Most describe Umehara as cold and formal. Born and raised to a family that demanded much from him, Umehara constantly brought it upon himself to improve his abilities in anything he did. He is very bright, clever, and witty. He is well-known among most tacticians in different squads for his uncanny ability to develop efficient strategies in pressing situations. Figuring out the opponent's strengths and weaknesses have always put Umehara to somewhat of an advantage. Because of this, he was valuable to multiple squads. Additionally, Umehara tends to be very sarcastic. The ultimate downfall of his personality is his tendency to offer constructive criticism too often, to the point where it is taken as offensive. He actually means well, and usually seeks to improve himself and others when/where possible.
Like a fox, Umehara is mysteriously playful. He uses his superior intellect to toy with the minds of others. He takes a liking to having the upper hand. On top of everything, Umehara goes through great lengths to prevent his Hollow's personality from taking over his own. Umehara's internal Hollow is nasty, informal, and reckless. It will often persuade Umehara to discard his patience and dive head-first into battle. Umehara's own zanpakuto is not designed for such battle, so Umehara struggles with his Hollow to prevent full-body possession (for it would lead to his own downfall).

History: Umehara was the firstborn child of Seinosuke Yamada and his wife. As a child, his father proved to be very demanding. He was expected to serve under Unohana in Squad 4, and to become her Lieutenant, however Umehara's fate turned out quite differently. He began his days in the Academy doing exceptionally. As a brilliant student, he passed his tests with ease and found most of the tasks he was required to do moderately demanding. He sought intellectually stimulating activities. During his time at the Academy, Umehara personally began to take certain study lectures from scientists who were interested in creating a research squad (Which would later become the 12th Division). Around the time of his graduation, Umehara's younger brother, Hikaru, was born. Days after, Umehara immediately signed up to join the Fourth Division. As a method to impress his father, he did anything and everything that was ever asked of him. His parents seemed far more infatuated with his younger brother- Hikaru- who was far more energetic and playful than his older brother. The family's attention in a matter of months had been pried away from Umehara. Disappointed and feeling rather neglected, Umehara began to involve himself more with Urahara Kisuke- interested in the man's field of study. As time passed, Umehara had finally managed to harness the combination of his zanpakuto and it's spirit- allowing for his shikai. From this point onwards, he further explored his abilities with the zanpakuto.
Years passed, and Umehara had finally joined the Third Division. He had grown tired of living in his father's shadow and instead wished to seek his own pursuits. Noted for his expert advice in tactics and strategies, Umehara became the Third Seat of Squad Three, granting him a considerable amount of honor. He worked beneath Rōjūrō Ōtoribashi and Chikane Iba for several years. Also around this time, Aizen Sosuke had began with his hollowfication experiments. When Urahara had finally reformed the Twelfth Division into a research facility, Umehara made several visits to the lab. On one particular evening, he entered the lab to deliver some paperwork as a favor to Urahara. While he was in there, he noticed another presence in the room. Sosuke Aizen himself was meddling with some equipment. Knowing well that something was peculiar about his behavior because of his perceptive skills, Umehara questioned the Lieutenant. Annoyed, Aizen cut down Umehara- leaving him unconscious and bleeding on the floor of the Research Lab. That same evening, Aizen would manage to exile a majority of the Gotei 13. Multiple Captains and Lieutenants were infected by the same (who later came to be known as the Visored)- dooming them to a life of exile.
Umehara finally came to, waking up stored in an abandoned storage shack far off the outskirts the the Serietei. Disoriented and confused, he managed to find his way back to the Soul Society seeking immediate medical attention from the 4th Division. Barely able to recover his memory of the events of the previous night, he learned that his own Captain had been kicked out of the position for meddling with Hollow affairs. Utterly shocked, he was left saddened for days. Eventually, he became the Lieutenant of the 3rd Division after Chikane Iba. His time there was very short lived. Umehara came to realize that his he, too, had been infected by the same substance that began the hollowfication process- however the development took much longer, considering the method of transformation had not yet been perfected. One day, during a sparring session with a fellow subordinate of his squad, the subordinate delivered an insult that angered Umehara. As a natural reaction, he resorted to the fullest extent of his strength. He became much more reckless, and it came to a point where he was depending on the Hollow's stored power within him. It was like an instantaneous development. He began to make the full transformation. The substance leaked forward from his face, creating a mask- creating a sensation of searing pain that coursed throughout his veins. Writhing on the floor, he had significantly injured the subordinate in the training session- and several Kido specialists from Squad 5 and the Kido Corps had to be dispatched to restrain Umehara. He faced trial, and was sentenced to immediate execution to exterminate all traces of the Hollow.
Umehara, that evening, used his zanpakuto's abilities to take down the guards that kept him from escaping- and fled. Discreetly leaving the Soul Society, he managed to reach the World of the Living. For a day or so, he sought out the hiding spot of the Vizards (Shinji and the rest). His serch proved fruitless. He decided he would leave the immediate area to prevent Shinigami from chasing after him. He left to London, England, where he took up residence. Assumed dead by the Soul Society, Umehara was seen immediately as a disgrace to the Yamada family. Umehara based his living off of selling jewelry and gems that he created out of his own (and others') reiatsu. Wealth became little of a problem for him. Umehara purchased his own private home on the outskirts of the city, and began his own training there. He experimented with different techniques- read various accounts of literature, lore, and history. He became well-versed in human customs. For more than a century- he resided in England.
One year, after the Battle of Karakura, Umehara found it within himself to revisit Karakura Town. At this point, the majority of his skills had been perfected- and he had encountered various individuals with whom he experienced relationships with (none of them ever lasting). He scouted the town, observing each and every modification that had been made during his absence. It was only recently then that he met Yuka Hana. With her being the first, he was the second Vizard to accept the idea of creating a group- completely unaware of the previously existing group. To this day, he has acted as a free-roaming Vizard, tagging alongside Yuka in the majority of her endeavors.
