Zephyr sat in his cage his silver hair and eyes glowing slightly in the darkness as he watched what was happening. He had been in the shops for a few years now always moving from one cage to another as he was bought and sold because they grew tired of him, found out he was gay, or that he had started out as a glorified horse and not as a human. It wasn't his fault that he had been born that way and as for the gay bit he had never been with a woman until after he had spent years with his first owner and he couldn't do anything with one now.
Sighing he closed his eyes and tried to think of what it would have been like to have been born human or to have remained as an animal for the rest of his life.
When he heard he was to be moved he changed into a white stallion complete with wings and horn. He didn't want to leave this spot and he reared up screaming a challenge to the men his silver hooves flashing dangerously as he was pulled out of one shop and into another part of the market. Eventually the men managed to put him into a large cage that allowed him to move as he snorted and pawed at the ground.

He heard from a friend about a silver horse with wings and a horn, and a human form. A winged unicorn that could turn human would be an interesting addition to the house and ranch; far better than Michael's boring little human boy. The three brothers were all the humans that house could handle, but having a creature like who he was looking for would make it a great place. As he walked, searching for the silver creature, he heard the screams of a horse and followed the noise until he saw it. He was locked in a cage that, despite the metal trap's size, still looked too small for the horse. Maybe it was the wings that made him look bigger than he really was, but still. "That's no way to treat such a gorgeous animal! Honestly, don't you idiots know anything about appealing to your customers' tastes?" Mark fixed his hat and walked closer to the cage, examining it. The horse was thinner than it should be, which led him to assume that his human form would be worse, and the eyes were just slightly bloodshot form panic. "Ah, well. There's no permanent damage that I can see while he's in this form. Everything looks fixable...." He was more or less thinking aloud at this point, and it was obvious by his quiet tone and focused eyes. I've decided. I'm going to help this shifting masterpiece back to perfect condition! There's no going back now!╔══════════════╗

The stallion snorted and turned his head to look at the man that spoke. His ears flicked forward and twitched as he listened to the other for a moment. It seemed like he was going to calm down until one of the guards came over to speak to Mark.
"That stallion has been nothing but trouble for us. We can't sell him to anyone he fights the handlers and breeders. Only thing worth selling would be that pretty horn."
Zephyr reared up once more and neighed another challenge his hooves flashing even as the tip of his horn touched the ceiling of his cage. If he kept it up he was going to hurt himself. He didn't care of course as long as he was able to keep the guards and buyers away from him.

He reacted as he always did when there was an upset horse; standing in front of it and getting in a position that looked like he was ready to tackle, but was obviously never meant to allow such an action. "Hey, hey! Easy now! I'm not here for your horn, and I'm not going to let them hurt you! Easy, big guy. Calm down, and I'll get you out of here. I promise." He relaxed a bit to show the creature that he didn't mean him any harm, and he lowered his hands a bit to reach into his pocket and pull out a bag of sugar cubes. Mark would have brought apples or something more healthy, but he didn't want to carry a bag of apples with him and risk them being stolen. "Ever think he fights everyone because they don't treat him right? He's a horse, dumbass; they'll fight when they're cornered, and with that horn, I'm surprised you haven't been impaled yet." Mark poured a few cubes into his hand and held his hand through the bars of his cage, hoping the horse would calm down and accept his peace offering. "Are you calm now, big guy?"╔══════════════╗

Zephyr pawed the ground and snorted before his ears moved forward as he listened and calmed. As Mark continued to speak he calmed completely and moved forward in his cage his soft muzzle brushing against the male's palm as he took the cubes of sugar out of Mark's hand.
When the cubes were gone he rubbed his head against the other's hand careful to avoid hurting the male with his horn. Zephyr had not allowed anyone else to touch him while he had been in the market unless he was restrained.

He's not so bad when you show you don't want to hurt him....I bet you guys just don't care enough." Mark gently patted the muzzle of stallion before turning to look at the guard. "Ahem....I believe I said I was going to get him out of here. Give me the key, and tell me how much he costs."╔══════════════╗

Zephyr let his ears follow the sound of the guard as the male moved towards his cage with the keys. He gave the correct key to Mark before he backed away giving the man and unpredictable stallion room.
The guard stated a price that was higher then they were really selling him for, but it was reasonable for the species. "Just get that d@mn creature out of here before it scares off any more of our customers."
Zephyr turned his head and snorted at the guard half rearing slightly to show that he heard and understood what the man had said. Of course now that he had found someone he could trust, at least slightly he became the perfect horse.

He could afford the stallion, no problem. "I bet you guys don't even know his name. Well, come on then." He grabbed a rope off his waist and lassoed it around the stallion's neck so he wouldn't get lost or separated from him; Mark figured it was too soon to ask for him to shift into his human form, and he was going to respect the creature. "Let's get out of here. No use staying here any longer." The rancher walked with the stallion towards his truck. There was a horse trailor attached to it in case he didn't want to shift, but he would leave that to the shifter. "You can ride up front with me if you want to shift, but if you prefer to stay as you are now until you can trust me more, that's fine. The choice is yours, and I respect it." Mostly because of his horn, but also because he was a great stallion. Far better than Nightmare even.╔══════════════╗
