The picture above is a smaller one, but there are amazing giant cuttlefish out there! Cuttlefish are amazing creatures that can also change color - they belong more to the squid family. They have pigment cells known as chromatophores that allow the cuttlefish to change colors - this change sometimes appears to be a hypnotic, wavy or flashing movement. The Cuttlefish is quite a light show within itself, which makes it one amazing creature.
Cuttlefish have eight arms and it's common for them to retract their tentacles close to their body when not in use. Cuttlefish have excellent vision and can also eject a cloud of ink if they need to escape. It is also said that they have green blood and three hearts. They can also see backwards and swim backwards. What I find most interesting about them is that they are able to change color in a matter of seconds.
Cuttlefish are generally predators of a lot of animals - this sometimes depends on their size as well. Their bone - known as cuttle bones are often sold in pet supply stores for birds.
I enjoyed going to an amusement park and being around these magnificent creatures! I remember putting my arm on the table with facts about them and one of the cuttlefish changed to a purple color to match my jacket! It was truly amazing! There was a person there who was wearing a camouflage jacket and the cuttlefish was trying to decide between the black and different shades of green. They are truly awesome to be around! I could probably spend an entire day with 'em xD
Here is an interesting NatGeo Wild video with cuttlefish changing colors:
