I've liked the graphics for a lot of games, but I've been pretty disappointed since I started playing 360/PS3 Gen games. I've only rarely found games I can really enjoy flat out.
Games like Lost Odyssey, Dark Souls, Fable II, Ninja Gaiden II, Assassin's Creed II, Gears of War I, Bioshock I, and Borderlands II were captivating and I could play them constantly with a passion.
Games like Gears II & III, Halo 3, ODST, MW2 & 3, Black Ops I & II, and most current FPS have just been "With Friends" enjoyment. Those games required anywhere from two-to-four friends available to play with in order to get real enjoyment out of them for me.
The Gaming Industry is more concerned with graphics over the actual story line and potential length of games. If it hasn't already become apparent with the recent re-hash releases this past Holiday Season that were followed by their own Season Passes and 'deals' on DLC. We're being sold incomplete (and most rather short-lived) games for over $60 after tax only for them to turn around and hit us with another $30-50 in DLC packages/deals. The community continues to just throw cash into it and move on in, often leaving those who want nothing to do with that kind of sham in a position where their friends mostly have and are playing the DLC without them and they're forced to play alone or buy the DLC.
O S T
I remember when I was younger and my best friend Kody got me into gaming more heavily than I had ever been before. Final Fantasy VII, Legend of Dragoon, Devil May Cry 1-3, Monster Ranchers, Twisted Metal, Pokemon handheld games, etc etc.
I still find those games more enjoyable current day than most, if not all, the games I've run into since this gen of gaming arrived. We should really focus on the quality of story and gameplay alongside the overall length of story than to get caught up in the 'shiny, shiny, pretty, pretty..' aspect of it.
