A little personal history: The personal assistant to Queen Mab, Frik is a powerful wizard in his own right having achieved the third stage of magic, incantation through thought. As a gnome he was often privy to all of Mab's schemes and proved to be an invaluable servant time and time again. He personally trained the world's two most powerful wizards in the old ways including Master Mordred and Master Merlin. Although technically on opposing sides of the field of battle, Frik always harbored a soft spot for Merlin and kept an amicable relationship with him.
In his later years he was instructed by Mab to recruit Morgan Le Fay in a plot to topple Arthur's throne. He was successful in his mission and in the following years fell in love with Morgan. It is unknown whether Morgan felt anything for him or if she was merely attracted to his power and the illusions he cast upon her. He often doted upon Morgan while at their castle in Cornwall, granting her every wish. Unfortunately it was here that the curse found them and destroyed what fleeting happiness he had found.
In Storybrooke he is known as Arthur Murray, the elementary school's Art teacher. He is shy and speaks with a stammer when apprehensive, but he is well-liked by the children and staff save for perhaps Mr. Morris the Drama instructor. All the same, Arthur prefers to keep to himself and has few if any close friends.
Roleplay Sample: She was late. It wasn't like her to be so late. Every morning at 7:18, Arthur walked in and sat in the hidden corner of the diner and waited. Every morning at 7:20 she came to Granny's for a cup of coffee, and once, when she had been in a particularly happy mood, cocoa.
The clock flickered to 7:25...
He knew he was not a handsome man, or a wealthy man, or even a particularly articulate one. No, someone such as she never acknowledged his existence, much less contemplated the possibility of seeing him the way he saw her. She was perfect in every sense of the word. Her smile... her eyes... her voice... her name... Aria Blackstone... He ached to hold her, and yet Arthur knew she was far beyond his meager grasp.
7:30...
She wasn't coming today. It was hard to keep the disappointment from making his throat constrict. Still, he plastered on a smile as he often did and no one was the wiser.
"Thank you for the coffee Ruby," he said brightly as he placed down a five dollar bill for her tip. His hands fumbled a bit before grasping his suitcase. He should get to class, it wouldn't do him any good to be late for his first class. Hopefully, Mr. Morris would be too preoccupied with his freshmen divas to bother him.
