So let's start with FREE Game Dev. Software for anyone interested in making their own games:

3D Modeling Software: Blender

Game Engines:

Unity Engine (License free, except you make 100k with your game then you have to buy the $1,000 pro version..which to be honest doesn't hurt when you made 100k xd )

Cry Engine 3 (free to use for non-commercial works)

UDK (Unreal engine) [also free to use for non-commercial works)

I see a lot of amazing games made on the Unity engine. Once i get my Programming degree i was going to start scraping that field and move into Game Development. 3nodding

yep and nintendo now got their own license for unity so all their in-house game studios can use it.

it might be of interest to you that the scripting languages used in unity are JavaScript, C# and Boo (whatever that is lol)

so you might want to look into JavaScript and C# a bit more. I know C# normally is not a scripting language but it can be used as such in Unity (idk why though lol im more the artist kinda person xd )

My plan is to diffidently focusing on Javascript. It will be hard, but man will it help me out. I have worked a lot with C++ mostly. I think its fun. 3nodding
