This was a suggestion type of topic and I figured it would be a great idea to post 3nodding we can all post what happened at church or what we have learned at church and it doesn't matter what day of the week you post since church meetings can be any day of the week.

If you do not attend a church, post something once a week if not each day of the week that you have learned through your Bible studies - perhaps even post thoughts or questions that come up in your mind here smile

Of course, today is Wednesday, but I figured I'd post what I learned in church recently. In our WOW service (Word On Wednesday, which is hosted Wednesday nights), for the month of February, we've been taking a look at 2 Samuel 15. In the passages discussed, Nathan confronts David about killing Uriah, sleeping with Beersheba, and fathering a child from that relationship. He told David that his son would die because of his sin. David fasted, prayed, and wept in the hope that God would change His mind. But when the child finally died and David got wind of it, he washed his face, went to worship, and came back and said "give me something to eat".

When his servants marveled at him, he just told them that him worrying wasn't going to change the fact that his son was dead.

The title of the series was "It was In you the entire time". The point my pastor was trying to draw, was that even when God shuts a door we so desperately want to open, our response shouldn't be to cry, pout or just give up (as most people would if they lost a child,or some other drastic event). We need to re-purpose ourselves and re-imagine what God has for us.

For example, if you were let go at your job, don't complain and get bogged down at the fact you were laid off. Pick yourself up, and go forward in the direction God wants you to go. If there's a door opened that God has for you, it'll open. Stop trying to open doors God has shut.

And if you further take a look at David's life, his son Solomon would go on to build a temple for the Lord, even though David's own life was plagued with war after his sin with Bathsheeba. Did that stop David from worshiping God? No biggrin From David's example, we can learn how to plow forward and worship God for who He is, rather than the circumstances he puts into our lives.

It was really a message of releasing negativity and pursuing God for all of our needs and in all circumstances, regardless of circumstances (if that makes sense).

That makes sense smile it's also a good message about believing in God no matter what plagues one's life. 3nodding 1 and 2 Samuel are great books =]
