Hi. I'm young. I'm in seventh grade.
I started playing the clarinet last year in sixth grade, in beggining band.
This year I was upgraded all the way passed concert and symphonic band, to honors band. I play 5 days a week, two class periods a day.
Heres the problem.
I have a size 2.5 clarinet reede and I'm starting to notice my instrument squeeking atleast five-ten times a song.
Is this because I need a better size reede?

It might be because the reed is two hard. You could go down a level for a while, or just try to get used to the 2.5

I have been playing clarinet since 6th grade as well and I am now in the 11 grade. if your already using a 2.5 reed, that is a good starter reed, Don't go higher until A) your told too or B) you feel you play pretty well with the 2.5 reed.
I would trying first putting more clarinet mouth pics into your mouth. If that does not work try pulling out your barrel just a little bit. (that is also how you turn the clarinet. (with the barrel part) Congrats on being in the honors. It is alot of work but I am sure you can do it! feel free to PM me or friend me or quote me if you have anymore questions. smile
