I thought i'd start this for those who don't understand Paganism. Which i follow.
It's also for those who follow any religion they may want to talk about. As we are all classy like that.. cheese_whine
gaia_nitemareleft Hmm where to being. Paganism is a general term that many go by, that worship other god's and goddess that arent part of Christianity. It is also a term that people who worship Nature as a divine being. In Paganism there is no right or wrong way to believe, you make it how you feel is right.
Unlike many religions, that have a strict system. Although im not saying any religion forces you to believe in a certain way, some do pressure you to think and behave in a particular way.
Since Paganism has so a wide specturm of belief, there is many path's some take that have a basic structure. Most are paths of old, like Druidism, Shamanism and Wicca.
Each having there own unquie spin on there path's. However nothing means you can't follow more than one, and changing it too how you feel is right.
The basic principle of Paganism, is about Nature as a whole. Worshipping the ground we walk on, some think of it as a spirit and some as a energy. I myself think of her as Terra and Gaia, the goddess's. I myself, worship many Deities, but mainly the Greek Pantheon.
There is the God and the Goddess, both represented by the Sun and the Moon. The Horned God, often depicted by a man with horns, covered in vines and resembling a stary in someways. He is everything earth and fire, the two masculine energies.
There is the Silver Lady, the Goddess of the Moon/water and Air. She is, i find the most popular to be worshipped. Often depicted as a beautiful, flowing lady in silver.
Most believe, that all deities that exisist are just different faces and parts of the God and Goddess.
Some think there is a universal power.
It really is what you feel is right for you.
Most Pagan's use prayer and spell's to achieve goals or things they need. Like say for healing, they may pray to Asclepius the Greek God of healing or cast a spell you may say, to achieve that Goal. Also they use things from the earth, such as crystals, oils, herbs and the energy around them.
I do wish to point out that, there is no devil worshipping going on, if you are called a pagan. It was something that Christianty said, when they were fearful of Pagan's. Yes, there are Satanist, but that is something for another time. All i know is they worship the dark side, for we believe in a Balance. There is no Light without Dark.
There is no discrimination against, age, sexual prefernces, where you come from.
There is Karma, the Three Fold Law. What you send out, comes back to you 3 fold. Wether good or bad intent.
Paganism is hard to go into detail, when there is no right or wrong way of explaining. There is much to say, hence i have proberly not said everything lol.
I shall gladly answer anyones question, especially about what i believe in. smile
