My church has a bunch of small groups, and I recently joined one.
We're doing a 6 part DVD series study called "How to be Good and Angry"
which talks about righteous anger (ie. God's anger) versus our unrighteous anger.
Last night focused on When Good Things Become Bad Things
For example, an innocent "WANT" can turn into a ruling desire.

Here's a quick breakdown of how a good and innocent WANT can turn bad.

(A Clean House)
"I want ___" DESIRE
"I must have___" DEMAND
"I will have___" NEED
"You should ___" EXPECTATION
"You didn't ___" DISSAPOINTMENT
Therefore, "I will ___" PUNISHMENT

You can quickly fill in the blanks with something that applies to you or your own situation.

This lesson focuses on James 4: 1-5.

I really reflected a lot on last night's lesson. This morning on my way to work I decided I wanted Dunkin Donuts for breakfast, since I hadn't eaten when I left.

I got in the drive through, placed my order, and the woman asked me "Are you paying cash?" I instructed her I only had my debit card. She said their card reader was down, and I could come inside to use the ATM and pay that way. Already waiting in line for a while, I decided I didn't have the time to go in and still make it to work on time. So I said "That's alright, thanks anyway!" and headed off to work to avoid being late.

Reflecting on last night's session I thought out loud "Well, I only WANTED Dunkin Donuts. I don't NEED it." and figured I'd heat up some oatmeal when I got into my office.

I got to work, made my cereal, and headed down the hall to the secretary (someone I became close to). She stopped at Dunkin Donuts and brought munchkins in for everyone!

I laughed as I ate a few, and thanked God for providing me with my WANT for the day!

A few other verses that tie into the lesson last night are

Matthew 23: 1-12
Romans 12: 9-21
2 Peter 1:3

The last verse really struck a chord with me. I realized that God gives us all we NEED.

Therefore, the closer we are and the stronger our relationship with God, the more we will realize he gives us everything we NEED and our list of WANTs will decrease!

That was a very nice testimony that you shared with everyone, and I particularally enjoyed how you tied in the devotional that you and your church are digesting Spiritually with your day today.
Very funny and informational.
Thank you again for sharing this with all of here at 'The Well.'
