The day wasn't exactly the kindest outside as Burdock scowled at the rain that fell in sheets across the down. The wind blew the bitterly cold stuff in her face as it turned towards the bolt hole she crouched in. She wanted outside, where she could stretch her legs and get away from her Marli. Having grown enough to not be restricted to the small den with her brothers, the thought gagged the young doe. Males, to her always seemed to think that they were superior to females, this made her snort. She was going to prove that she could do anything they could and do it better.
"Why did it have to rain today!" Burdock said scornfully at the rain as it blew in at her again. "How what am I supposed to do? Cozy up and be a good little doe?"
Baring her teeth at the rain, Burdock turned away from the opening and headed back towards the inner workings of the warren. It was abuzz with life, but that life seemed dull to her. Bucks taking flay to their mates to feed the late blooming kits. Other Outskirters, like herself, wrestling or listening to stories told by the elders, Pah! She needed something to do to waste some energy. Energy she wished to waste outside in the fresh air and not here.
Avoiding the main hall of the warren, she wandered blindly through the runs, not noticing the one buck she she would run into. Eyes crossed in a downwards glare, Burdock crossed paths with one of the many Owsla she planned to work with in the future.

The Owsla didn't get to stay inside on rainy days. Nor snow days. Even when thunder cracked across the sky, they had a duty. The elil of the world were all around and Dragon knew how soft the earth was when it was wet. One of the thousand could dig through a burrow in a few seconds when it yielded easily. So, he was soaking wet. He had just finished his watch period, poised like a gargoyle on the top of the down. His fur was soaked to the bone, though he didn't groom it dry just yet. He was enjoying his own flay, thinking back to the time he spent in his hutch where it never got wet. The dryness was almost unbearable in that life. And that was why he didn't mind the rain: every time it soaked him, he felt invigorated. The first time he had to swim a river was one of his most memorable experiences he'd ever had. He turned sharply to look at the female, skulking down the tunnel. "Where you off to, youngling?" He asked bluntly and uncuriously.

An ear twitched and Burdock stopped where she was and looked towards the larger buck, he looked quite wet, fur all soggy and messy. Eyes still in a glare she fluffed up a little bit. "I had wanted to go outside, but its raining. Why did it have to rain today, why not snow, or just be a sunny day? Marli still says I'm too young to go outside, but she only says that to me. Does she say it to my brothers? Doubt it." She complained to the older buck. "I need something to do, its bored sitting around 'looking pretty'." She gave a mock impression of how some does were, paws to her chest and batting her eyes.
With her own tempers high, she was just brimming with energy to burn with nothing to do. If it had been fire, her ears would have been smoking, her tail as well, maybe. "I feel holed up in here, Useless. And what about you? Your soaking wet, how is it that you get to go outside and I don't?" she asked taking a hop closer, her eyes narrowing a bit. "I bet Owsla can do anything they pleased, when they pleased."

Another little diva. He knew the type, and he couldn't say he preferred their company. "Stop that whining." He snapped at her, but not loudly or cruelly. Just authoritatively. He wouldn't listen to a primadonna. "You're a good kit for listening to your Marli. Its not safe outside for little does." He gave a snort and sat back to observe her. "And there aren't any bucks besides the owsla out today."
He took a moment to have another bite of food before continuing. "Us Owsla do not get to do whatever we like." He snorted at her. "We do as we're assigned and have time for little else. The perks of being an Owsla are internal. You know at the end of the day if you've done a good job."

Burdock snorted at the larger buck as he called her a 'good kit' she was hardly that. She hated others calling her such things. When being told to stop whining she bore teeth at him, small they were, but she knew how to use them, having started many a brawl in her 'younger' days. "But staying inside is boring! I have been inside since I was born, why did my Marli have to have me when the leaves fell and snow soon after. Its so unfair. She tells tales of raiding Man warrens and claiming what Frith presents to us."
Her fur was fluffed out as straight as new grass shoots, her pale eyes glaring at the ground. Things were always unfair, she knew that, but she wanted some things to change. Looking back at the buck Burdock stood on her toes to look a bit taller.
"Teach me to be an Owsla." She said, though it came out to be more of a demand then request. "Teach me, so I can go on one of these raids." A look of determination was plastered on her face, her ears were held high as she watched the buck, she wasn't going to take a 'no' for an answer.
