So, my ex-girlfriend broke up with me in early September of 2012. I don't want to be upset about it anymore, but I am for three reasons:
1.) She was my first relationship. Like, ever. 2.) I felt like I was starting to fall in love with her. 3.) She broke up with me via text message, which I find disrespectful.
So...should I still be as irked as I am? confused

Well it takes time to get over heartbreak, especially if it's your first love. One of my closest friends told me something that made the most sense ever "you'll always have some kind of feelings for your first love until you find someone else who makes you happy."

People get over things at their own rate. Never let anyone tell you it's wrong or you should speed it. I'm still bitter over my stressful relationship of a few years ago and have a new crush. I'm not trying to speed the recovery. I even have the silver lining. I'll never get the green-light with the crush, so this helps me cope. I also get more time with my true love: My writing.
