"Me? I'm Andrew Caliu."

While it had been almost five years since his last visit to Russia, Andrew was able to find his way from the airport to the city of his parent's home. It would have been easier to use a transporter, but he wasn't willing to risk efficiency when they were going to someplace outside of the veil, especially when the town they were going to held only a few thousand occupants. So, he had had to do things the human way, causing him to realize just how attached to the magical world he had become. Without a way to magically transport from place to place, he had been forced to pick up a rental car and put to use such skills that he had only needed during college. Yet, the snow was possibly his least favorite factor, as he hadn't needed to deal with that weather since he was a child. Nonetheless, his mood was upbeat, and he was looking forward to the day's events.

Turning onto the street of his destination, he spared a glance to Rina, a small smile of his face as he thought about his engagement. Of course, he saw himself as a lucky man to be with her, and he was pleased that she would want to meet his parents. This wasn't her first trip to the country, however, and he was also aware that she spoke flawless Russian, so he was very hopeful that she would be more at ease here then even himself. Granted, his parents were rather opinionated, but he knew that Rina would have very little to worry about during their meeting.

Bringing the car to a stop outside of a small, brick home, he studied the structure for a few moments. It was definitely the Caliu's smallest property, but Andrew supposed that was because it was meant for just his parents, rather than the entire family. Still, he knew that it would be comfortable, and the warmth it promised made him want to skip the step of having to actually leave the car for the cold, snowy air. Letting out a short sigh, he unbuckled his seat belt, taking a few seconds to adjust his shirt's collar over the sweater he wore. "Ready?" he questioned, his tone light as he addressed his fiancée.

If I Get Lost

Riding in a plane had been odd, Rina had only ever been in much smaller planes like a Cessna, but she hadn't complained. The other alternative was using a transporter, an idea she was not fond of, but Andrew had been nervous about the outcome outside the veil. This was perfectly fine with her considering her last experience with a transporter had made her ill. Content to let Andrew take charge on their transportation, she had remained quiet throughout their car trip, eyes glued to the window and the little town outside. She had only ever been in larger Russian cities and the Slyphid settlement way up north, so she was quite enjoying the scenery. Originally, the woman had been surprised to learn that Andrew's parents resided in Russian, as last she knew, Andrew didn't speak much Russian himself.

As the car came to a stop, she turned her head to look over at her fiancé. He seemed to be studying the little house before them, and Rina wondered how long it had been since he had been at the house. Being considerably smaller than the home she had been to, the princess came to the conclusion that this was a house built for the parents and not the children. Unbuckling her seat belt as he did, she smoothed the front of her navy blazer and flashed him a smile at his question. "As ready as I'll ever be, I suppose." she answered honestly, keeping the edge of nervousness from her voice.

"Me? I'm Andrew Caliu."

With her agreement, he opened the door, stepping out and standing as he placed the car keys in his pocket. It was as cold as he had expected, causing him to surpress a shiver as he walked quickly around the car's front end. At Rina's side, he moved to hold her door open, extending his hand to her even though she was perfectly capable of getting out herself; there were just some habits that he would never lose, it seemed. Turning to face the trunk, he retrieved their suitcases, not wanting to brave another trip back into this weather when all could be accomplished now. With the luggage in hand, he shot Rina a smile, then took a step onto the sidewalk as he stated cheerfully, "Let's go."

After several steps through the snowy ground, he led the way to the porch, which provided enough room for the two to stand as Andrew raised a hand to press the doorbell's button. It took only a handful of seconds for the door to open before a woman was ushering the young couple inside.
"Come in quickly or else we'll all freeze and I won't be able to hug you~" L'archel Caliu was tall, standing at almost six feet, with her dark brown hair pushed out of the way with a headband. Her expression was bright, and Andrew felt that it was the same sort he usually saw on Amelia's face, though where his sister was clever, his mother was closer to gullible. The door was shut behind them, allowing the woman to turn and greet her son with an energetic hug as his father entered from another room.

Steven was roughly the same height as his wife, though a little burlier. His hair was far lighter, a shade of blonde that was beginning to grey and thin along the sides. His father's aging appearance surprised Andrew, but he kept any shock from his expression as he greeted the older man with a smile and hello. After having his greeting returned, he followed his parent's gaze to the sylph at his side, prompting him to introduce her. He did so with a smile, his tone light and friendly. "This is Rina Windstorm, my fiancée."

Both of his parents nodded, and his mother in particular looked thrilled to be meeting her future daughter-in-law. L'archel flashed a grin as she moved to embrace Rina, her words earnest as she told her,
"Welcome~ Oh, you're going to be so happy! I made coffee and picked up some doughnuts...You do like those, right? Andrew never told me whether you did or not." She stepped back, awaiting a response from Rina before telling the others that she would be back in just a few moments. Once her back was turned, Steven motioned to the sofa and seats. "Let's sit, and hear a bit about you, Rina."

If I Get Lost

Rolling her eyes safely in the car as he stepped around to assist her, she didn't object as she took his hand and stepped down. The leather boots she wore had excellent traction, and so she waited patiently as he collected their luggage. Russia had always been cold, and while Andrew seemed eager to step inside, the Sylph was a bit less affected by the freezing weather. Following along as he led the way to the house, she took the few seconds before the door opened to straighten her blazer and the simple red shirt beneath. Stepping inside at the woman's insistence, she smiled lightly and took in what she could of her surroundings without seeming absent-minded. Carefully, she examined her fiancé's parents; his mother reminded her a bit of Amelia based on the woman's expression, though that wasn't much to go off of. His father came off as polite, though she gained no useful knowledge from his reaction to their visit.

Returning the embrace offered by his mother, Rina was not one for intimate physical contact with those she barely knew but didn't want to come off as rude, she kept her expression light and friendly. "Doughnuts sound lovely, yes." she agreed, not very picky when it came to food. Watching the woman move off to gather the evening snack, her gaze returned to the man of the house. A small smile appeared at her lips, and she moved towards the seating he motioned to. Not quite sure where would be most suitable, she paused long enough for Andrew to select their seating space. "I think it might be easiest if you tell me what you'd like to know." she proposed, her expression remaining smooth and open. Andrew had mentioned that her parents knew a bit, but she couldn't quite remember what they knew and didn't know what else they might want to know.

"Me? I'm Andrew Caliu."

With the initial introductions over with, Andrew moved to the sofa, leaving their luggage inside the coat closet for now. They could easily retrieve it one they were finished with talking, and he figured that it would be best for himself and Rina to remained seated next to one another as they spoke. His own expression was upbeat, and was clearly making an effort to be open with his parents. Despite trouble and grievances from the past, he wanted to get along well; he was going to be married, and he wanted his future with Rina to coexist peacefully with his average human side, which he felt was represented by his parents.

Steven nodded, his expression thoughtful as he tried to find an appropiate start to their conversation. While his son had told them plenty about Rina, he felt that it would be much more helpful for her to actually speak with them. Moving to sit on a seat that rested across from the sofa, on the other side of a coffee table, he spoke up with curiosity. "I'd like to hear about your goals. Andrew told me that you double majored, but do you plan to act or play right away?"

Returning from the kitchen with a tray of mugs and an assortment of doughnuts, L'archel was able to catch the end of her husband's question, causing her to speak hastily, "Ugh, at least wait for me to sit. I would hate to miss anything important." She set down the tray on the small table, then sat quickly in the last chair open, which was set close to the one Steven sat in. Smiling faintly, she held her own mug between her palms, awaiting Rina's response with genuine interest.

If I Get Lost

Seating herself carefully next to Andrew, she turned her eyes on his father as the misses left the room to fetch the promised treats. She settled herself onto the couch, carefully taking in her fiancé's parents. She had thought it best that they be the ones to ask questions instead of just talking, as she wasn't totally sure what they knew and what they didn't or what they might want to know specifically. Considering her future father-in-law's question carefully, she cast his wife a small grateful smile as she returned with the tray of food and drink. "I've played in a few orchestra performances as a replacement here and there." she reached to take on of the mugs, holding it between her hands to try and warm them. "As for the long term, I'm not completely sure. I've been using my connections to get me bit parts and last minute replacement jobs, so I'll likely build off the connections I make through that." she didn't know completely what she wanted to do just then, though she had plenty of prior income to support her until she made up her mind.

"Me? I'm Andrew Caliu."

Retrieving a mug, Andrew held it between his palms, glad to have a source of warmth after his few minutes in the cold. He listened to Rina's response, rather proud of the talent he knew she possessed. Steven also appeared satisfied with her response, as he felt she would do well with her connections. He supposed it wasn't anything to worry much about, since he had been made aware of Rina's lineage, and therefore he knew she wouldn't need to worry for a long while, if ever. Still, it was nice to know that she had goals, since otherwise it would seem like a waste of her time to get two degrees. "That sounds hopeful~" chipped in La'archel, a smile still on her expression. She found Rina's charisma to be quite charming, so she doubted the woman would have any trouble getting a job. "It does," agreed Steven, sipping from his mug before selecting a glazed doughnut. "And I look forward to hearing you play some time." He was sure that eventually, there would be a chance to do so, since Andrew had insisted she was a wonderful musician.

Turning his attention back to his son for the moment, he chose to get both involved in the forming conversation. "How's teaching?" Andrew smiled faintly, having expected the question to come at some point. His parents were surprised that he had chosen such a career when it meant dealing with so many kids; but it seemed only logical to him, when patience was one of his strongest traits. "Great. It gives me an excuse to see Bella more often." His parents perked up at the mention of their adopted niece, and their moods lightened immediately. His mother rambled for a few seconds about how good it must be for them go be socializing more, but she quieted when Steven asked another question. "I bet she enjoys it too. Especially since she's always spent so much time with Amy. Speaking of, has Amelia gotten to planning your wedding yet?" He was kidding, but Andrew nodded, forcing his expression to be serious as he answered, "Yes." He laughed then, turning slightly to warn Rina, "She'll be picking out a place for you to try on dresses when we get back."

If I Get Lost

Taking a sip from her mug, Rina was glad for the warmth it granted; it was certainly quite chilly outside, though it was nice and cozy inside the little house. Noting the apparent satisfaction on the face of her future father-in-law, she was relieved that her answer had been satisfactory. In all honesty, she had yet to decide on a long term goal for herself and was taking it one job at a time. She smiled pleasantly at the responses from the other couple, giving a small nod to Andrew's father. "I'd be happy to play for you any time." she had actually packed her violin, the instrument she had taken up most recently. It was the smallest of her selection of instruments, though she had been a bit wary of putting it in the cargo hold of the air plane. Her preference would be a piano, but she hadn't known if the couple possessed one or not.

Relaxing a bit as the conversation shifted to Andrew, she selected a doughnut for herself and nibbled on it as she listened. The princess was glad to hear that teaching was going well, as she hadn't actually thought to ask in a while. Personally, she would never really wish to teach, but she believed that Andrew was quite fit for the profession; he was far more patient than she was. At the mention of Amy, the princess cracked an amused smile. Raising a brow as Andrew turned to her, she chuckled and gave a small shake of her head. "It's probably for the best, considering my knowledge of dresses and human weddings." she pointed out, not seeming to object at all. She had handed over control of attire to Amelia in hopes that it would be suitable.
