Monster List
Legend:
[Passive]
Monsters which do not attack players on sight. These are monsters which you can freely control. The Crew members have no control over these monsters. You can only fight at most two(2) of them per post.
[Aggressive]
Monsters which attack players on sight. You can roleplay as these monsters and fight them as you wish; or they can be controlled by a Moderator or Crew at any given time in any given field. You can fight as much as three(3) aggressive monsters per post.
[Mobbing]
Monsters which attack players in great numbers. You have no choice but to fight at least four(4) of them per post.
[Fishing]
Monsters which can only be found and encountered by fishing. The higher your Fishing Skill is, the higher the chance that you will get a good, higher level monster.
[Flying]
Monsters that are capable of flight. It takes a decent level of skill to fight these kinds of monsters simply because they can fly and regular players cannot. They are greatly weakened if their wings are clipped off.
[Rare]
Monsters which can only be found in certain maps and at certain times. These are monsters that usually drop valuable loot that are needed to accomplish certain quests, and are required to construct certain weapons and armors. They require special conditions to be encountered on the field:
(1) Ten (10) individual posts of venturing into a field or dungeon from your RPC alone, inclusive of posts encountering and fighting other monsters and etc. Once the specified number of posts have been made, the rare monster will automatically spawn on the following post. (2) They only spawn twice a day for anyone, or for any party. This means that each person, or each established party, can only get to encounter two rare monsters a day, whether it is in the same map thread or a different one. There is an exception on special cases that involve Moderator or Crew intervention. (3) Rare monsters only appear one at a time, that is, without Moderator or Crew intervention. (4) Sudden Moderator or Crew intervention, or simply, if a Crew decides to roleplay as that monster for you. In which case, two rare monsters can appear at once, and players may encounter it for the third time or more in one day.
[Super Rare]
Monsters which exist in mystery in the world of Sword Art Online. They are one of a kind and are difficult to kill. They usually come out during special events. They are only encountered if Moderators or Crew members roleplay them for you.
[Quest]
Monsters which are only spawned when a Player is currently active in the proper Quest.
Floor 1 Monsters:
Blue Slug [Passive] [Mobbing]
The Blue Slug is a slow, low level monster that dwells and is abundant in cave-like areas in the lower floors of Aincrad. It can spit corrosive, toxic acid from its mouth. It can surround players in numbers, and combined with its ability to poison, it makes a rather formidable foe to low level players. It is recommended that an antidote be at hand when fighting against these monsters.
The Frenzy Boar can be found on the fields beyond the Starting City. It is the weakest of all enemy monsters, having been compared to Slime monsters of other games, and can be killed easily with one precise blow. Despite its low level, the Frenzy Boar appears to be a medium-sized monster with blue fur, glowing red eyes, a flat snout and sharp tusks protruding from either side of its mouth. In contrast to its bulky size, the Frenzy Boar is capable of moving fast as it charges towards its opponents.
Kobold [Passive]
Regular Kobold found in the First Floor. They are the non-armored, rookie counterparts of the Kobold Troppers and Sentinels in the First Floor Dungeon and are weak, but are considerably tough for beginners. There are varying species of Kobold which specialize in different weapons: Sword, Dagger, Hand Axe, Spiked Club and Archer. They appear randomly.
Found in the grasslands surrounding the Starting City, Wolves are low-leveled monsters similar to Frenzy Boar. A player has to fight and defeat them in order to continue to other towns in the area. Wolves in Sword Art Online take the appearance of a regular wolf with dark-colored and light-colored fur. A characteristic that differentiates them from regular wolves are their glowing red eyes that glares on their opponents.
Quest Monsters:
Thief [Quest]
Spawns only for the Quest "Collect the papers!". A rather scrawny but tall fellow. He hides his face with a tattered scarf and goggles and is clothed in dirty smelly clothes. He wields a dagger which he handles with amateur level skills.
Familiars:
Quote:
**Notes** - Familiars may only be gained through Quests or Monster drops. - Only one Familiar may be equipped at a time*. - Familiars do nothing except support in battle. This means they cannot attack a monster, defend a player, distract, etc. unless it is their effect in question. - Familiars may evolve if they have the capability to do so. - Players can assign nicknames to their Familiars or keep the official name. *Higher levels of Familiar Communication allows multiple Familiars
