Some artists create pieces of work by printing ink using different patterns on different materials. Some people make their own templates, whilst others copy and use another persons idea.
I often question whether you need any skill, or artistic ability to create a printing artwork.
Do you think printing is still art?

Wow that's odd, we're studying printmaking right now at my uni, we were asked the same question.
I guess you could say that about photography or abstract art in a way, as much as I didn't want to admit it. I had the same question about photography, anyone can pick up a camera, take a picture and edit it, right? You don't need any artistic skill, really, and you didn't 'make' the picture, the picture itself is just a generated copy of what you're seeing, you didn't make it, the camera made up that image of something that was already there.
The same can be said about printmaking, creating a print is what I would consider the artistic part as you are making it. The actual process of printing it down however, well, whoopie-doo.
The template thing, if you made the idea, and made the template for the print, it's art. Because you're creating, sculpting and sketching the idea for a print, copying someone else's idea and sculpting, etching or making a print that is identical is.. as bogus as it is, still art. It isn't original, but fashion isn't, right? Fashion is recycled, many know this, it goes then comes back around but it is still art.
Meh.. tl;dr: Yes.

Questions like this one are so hard to answer! whee

It really all depends on who's looking at it and who's making it and how the general public sees it [for some things]. There are plenty of things I reluctantly say is still art just because it's way far from my own personal taste or don't see the creativity behind it.

But printing making can definitely be an wonderful art form. There are so many sweet things out there from the different forms of printmaking. A friend of mine made some sweet band posters from block prints and another has some pretty cool shirts he makes.

When it comes to the copying others ideas though its tricky. Sometimes if done right with the right intentions it came be amazing, but most of the time I think its just a cop out or plagiarism.
