2 Timothy 1:9-10
Jesus saved us because He loves us. We have salvation because Christ died on a cross for us. Nothing we could do could ever hope to do for us what Christ did. There is no good deed that can wipe away our sin. Working our way to salvation is not an option. Our good deeds aren't enough to get us into heaven. The only way we gain salvation is through Christ's death on the cross. He paid for the ticket to heaven that we could never afford.
