 Name: Effie Byrd Bio: At 19, Effie is oldest of 3 children, all of them female. When she was little, Effie had 2 older brothers, but a witch, whom had a strong dislike for the king after having an affair with him, cast a spell on his family. Effie's older brother's both died before the age of 10 and the king's wife died while giving birth to her youngest daughter. Effie came to the crown when her father died while in battle. Since her brothers both died at a young age, it was expected that Effie would be given to her father's closest ally, and he would rule the kingdom when Effie's father died. However, Effie refused and instead was made Queen and has been doing her best since. Many people agree that Effie is much like her mother, both in appearance and mannerisms. Effie is very much humbled by this statement, she believes that her mother was a great woman and only hopes she would do her proud one day.

Age: 25
Sex : Male
Biography: Reiss was an assassin for a kingdom that opposed Effie's. One day he was ordered to take his group and to assassinate Effie a year after she was crowned Queen. The idea then was that after she was dead, he would fight ot the death and deal as much emotional and material damage to this kingdom. Essentially a kamikaze attack. However this is one of the many distasteful tasks that he had to do under the brutal rule of his king and when he watched Effie rule her kingdom with kindness yet with courage and strength, he fell in awe with her and defected to her side.
Initially as any, he was considered a treacherous person and untrustworthy, but after proving himself many times for Effie and her people he earned some favor from Effie and some nobles and became one of her advisers and his group became her bodyguards. Still many nobles and some people hold reservations against him.

Slowly the sun began to trickle into the castle of the royal family. It was very much welcomed by everyone. It signified a new day was here. Effie fluttered her eyes as the sun hit her face. Normally, Effie would already be awake and dressed, but today she had slept in. Her mother had told her once that it was alright to sleep in every now and again, but to keep in mind that she had duties to perform to both herself and her people. With a hefty sigh, Effie rolled out of bed and went to the window. Effie threw open the windows and took a large breath of air. The morning chill was effective in waking the girl up. "Surely this is going to be a good day." Effie mused to herself before walking to her vanity. It was time for her to look presentable. Humming quietly to herself, Effie began to brush her long almost white locks. When she was younger, Effie would have requested a servant help her, but now, there were very few she let into her chambers.
As the morning breeze gently blew threw the window, leaving goosebumps on Effie's pale skin. It was starting to get colder and Effie was a bit worried. "Today I will go out and speak with the people." Effie spoke aloud to herself when she thought she was alone. It was an awful habit she needed to break, but old habits die hard, and Effie, though she was only 19, was very much set in this habit. A frown pulled at the corners of the girl's soft lips. "I suppose I should also meet with the nobles as well..." She needed to discuss with them perimeter watches as well as food rationing. Her kingdom had had a hard summer. It was as productive as it had been in the past, so this was going to be a hard winter. Olivia also wanted to be sure what the nobles meant by food rationing. She was rationing for everybody, not just the unfortunate.

Reiss Juven Reiss had woken up early as always,going through his morning exercises and doing plenty of climbing around the castle. One of his favorite spots was around Effie's room, standing on the castle roof over her balcony and room. He sat down and waited while watching the rising sun, taking gulps of water from his small waterskin he kept with him. He heard her wake up and stood out of sight and then heard her talk to herself.He smiled as he knew of her habit. Caring and young. She still has a lot to learn about royalty just as he still looks for ways to improve his techniques as an assassin. As she stepped away he fell forward and swung himself into her room. "One must wonder if those nobles are the true snakes of the kingdom instead of the bandits," he said to her. He knew of their crafty ways, to keep hold of their wealth and resources and letting the less fortunate suffer more to keep themselves stuffed. "Going out today my lady?"he said to her. She kept good relations with the people yet a strong warrior too. It makes him wonder why won't nobles do the same in these times of trouble, when war and troubled harvests plague their lands

Effie gracefully turned in her chair to face Reiss as he fell into her chambers. Only a select few were aloud behind her chamber doors and Reiss was one of them. "At least bandits steal from the wealthy. From those that can afford to lose a few tokens." She bit her plush bottom lip as she turned back to her vanity and started to apply color enhancing oils. "First...I shall meet with the nobles...they always put me in such a sour mood..." A scowl pulled at the girl's forehead as she spoke. "I wish to get it over with as soon as possible." Effie was looking forward to meeting with the people. That was what she loved most about being Queen. Meeting with, talking to, and spending time with her subjects. Those that needed guidance and protection. Gracefully the girl stood to her feat and headed for her closet. She took out a lightweight gown, short in the front, and long in the back, white and blue and ornamented with sapphires and diamonds. She took her sword (which had belonged to her father) and strapped it to her waist. After clothing her body, she went back to her vanity and placed her crown above her head. It was heavy...and a constant reminder of the duty she had to fulfill.

Reiss Juven Reiss waited for her to finish and as soon as she placed the crown on her head he gave her a standing bow to her. "Lovely and strong. A great combination," he said to her and took his rightful place at her right side. He traveled down the castle steps with her and walked into the council room with her. Inside were already some nobles there. A few of them were evidently pudgy from their gluttony, others were both rich and such. Only a few would be considered wise. As reiss stood next to Effie's seat, a few of the nobles sneered at Reiss. "Why is that vagrant here? No doubt still biding his time and spying on us." one said, insulting Reiss openly. He was used to it by now, being a defector from the enemy nation along her borders. What a way to start discussing kingdom affairs, especially when they seemed more concerned for themselves than the people of her kingdom

The right side of Effie's lip pulled into a frown, but none would notice unless they were looking for it. "My friend...do not bow." She understood if they were in public, but this was her private chamber. Here they were equals. As he stood beside her, Effie went threw the castle, thinking about the agenda for today's meeting. It was going to be a a tough day, but Effie was ready for it. As she entered the council room, the nobles stood and made their own bow before Effie made her way to the head of the table, Reiss by her side. When one of the nobles openly insulted the man, Effie looked to him, a bit of fire in her eyes. "You must be careful Lord Hogan...for if he is a spy, he may very well make his way into your chambers tonight." As she spoke, she drug her right forefinger across her neck gracefully. "Of Course.." Effie bent her neck before turning to the rest of the nobles. "You aren't doubting your Queen's decisions....Are you Hogan?" The pudgy man didn't say a word, instead he just shook his head and fell silent. "Of course you aren't.."

Reiss Juven Reiss was impressed with Effie's handling. She is growing stronger by the day and asserting her authority. It certainly won't be pleasing some men who have such fragile pride. Finally the nobles seemed calm enough now and one of the lords rose up. "Lord Bradwell speaking. To start things off, our farmlands are performing a bit poorly again this year. I suggest that we raid one of our enemy neighbors for the food we need. Our people would starve if we don't do something. Rationing doesn't seem to be working among the common people," he said. He was one of the rich ones that was both looking out for himself while making himself look very concerned for the people of his district. Reiss looked over to Effie, already aware how poorly the nobles are rationing themselves, keeping themselves still full of food while the commoner had less. Reiss was very concerned about Effie's state of mental health and such, handling all these politics with these difficult people. He then had an idea. He was going to invite her along on bandit hunt after meeting with the people of her city. That should be a great stress reliever

Effie frowned her slight frown when the man stood and spoke of the decreasing food supply. She placed her right hand just under her chin and feigned as if she were thinking very hard while the man talked. "Perhaps, Bradwell, you should begin rationing yourself as well. It won't kill you to go without for a few days." She stood to her feet before speaking some more. "I, as your Queen, am issuing a royal decree. Everybody, including You Nobles, are under food rationing. You will eat as much as any common man. If I hear otherwise...you will be punished." The girl gave a sly smile before continuing. "If you don't like it, then feel free to return all the riches you have earned while being under the rule of the Byrd family and find a new country to live in." With that, Effie took a seat and waited for the next person to stand up.

Reiss Juven Reiss smiled at how she silenced a few of the nobles. A few more issues later, it seemed all quiet so Reiss gave a little cough. "Effie, why don't you accompany me and some of the men today after meeting with your subjects, on a bandit hunt. A little exercise will be good," he siad to her. He could tell that she would want another chance to get more practice into her swordplay. Hogan stood up to speak up. "My Queen. You must'nt go do something that dangerous. The assassin only wants to put you in harms way," he said to her. Although it was a bit of common knowledge that the nobles also see Effie as a good warrior, they didn't think she was good enough yet to face combat at a high level yet.

Effie gave her head a small nod as Reiss suggested they go on a bandit hunt. "That would be splendid, Reiss." The girl headed for the door just as Hogan spoke up. "Perhaps you would like to join us, Lord Hogan? I'm sure Reiss, nor his men, would mind." With that, she opened the door. "After all, if you're so worried about my well being, then perhaps you should follow along and keep an eye on me yourself." She knew very well that the older noble had no intention of hunting bandits. He believed himself to be to high of a position to do such a thing. "Mildred? Effie stopped one of her servants as they were walking down the hall. "Please have the stable boy ready a carriage and a bag of gold. I'm going out today and I wish to hand some out." Effie was always in the habit to hand gold out when she went in public. She had plenty to spare after all.

Reiss Juven Reiss gave Lord Hogan a prideful smirk before walking out with Effie. "You enjoyed that meeting somewhat didn't you my lady," he said to her as the stable boy went off to fetch the horse carriage. a moment later it arrived and Reiss held the door open and held her hand to help her up. He couldn't help but keep his eyes on hers as he helped her up before joining her inside. There was a pretty heavy small bag pouch of gold ready for distribution. "You're being very generous again this time. Are you sure you can keep doing this?" he said. He is happy she is generous but there were other things the gold could be used for, but it made the people happy so he can't really complain. It wasn't long till they arrived at the city square and Reiss stepped out to help Effie out, the people coming over and bowing to give her respect. The children crowded around her. "Its Queen Effie," they said and their parents tried to rebuke them to give her some space and show more respect. On the rooftops of the buildings, Reiss's assassins were keeping watch, only their silhouettes slightly shown to let her know that they are there to keep her safe.

Effie only smiled and shook her head at Reiss's comment. "I'm sure it could be used for other things...but I would like to give back to the people. After all..it is because of them that my crown has any value to it" As they arrived in the courtyard, Effie only smiled to the adults and gave the children a pat on the head. She whispered to a few of the stable hands that came with her to walk round and handout the money among the crowd before addressing the crowd. She spoke of what went on in the council room, putting a strong emphasis on food rationing. She told the people that it was up to them to inform her if their nobles weren't following the temporary law she had set. After getting her business done, Effie began to mingle with the people, speaking with them and discussing what concerns they have with the country.

Reiss Juven Reiss watched her closely as she spoke with the people, giving them some of her wealth and getting their adoration on return. He thought about how good of a choice he made in switching to her side and worried about that repercussion when his king decides to come for him and punish Effie for taking him in. Awhile later, some people rode into the city with their carriage and some villagers came out. THey saw Effie and fell prostrate before her. "My queen. Please help. Bandits robbed us and kidnapped our daughters," they said and pointed in the forests direction. Reiss gripped his sword as he looked at Effie, whistling for some horses to be brought to them. Some of his people came over with two horses while riding their own. He never did like bandits, much less slave traders too at the same time. How they roam her lands because some nobles bribe them instead of killing them, finding it too costly to fight them off.
