Is this all there is? Or is there something more?
This little town nestled deep in the woods is quiet and hidden away from the world... literally.
No one comes or goes from Storybrooke, though its inhabitants all seem happy enough. At least, that is what it seems. Like so many places, there are always secrets underneath...

~Time seems to stand still. Even the Town's clock tower remains at the same constant time. It must be the same at all other small towns, I mean, it's not like time really stops here. That's impossible right?
~Very few know the truth. Those who stumble upon it do best to exercise discretion lest something unpleasant befall them.

Ruby "I'm pretty sure I'm just gonna screw it up. I mean, I'll screw up with flair, but..." Today was starting out nice though, every morning seemed to just blend in like every other day. Too much to do and not enough time to make it work.
Since grandmother's heart attack I've been pretty much stuck here in this one horse town. Not that I had a problem with helping my grandmother. No I loved her to bits, it's just.
This town was too small for me. I wanted more then just being stuck in a town where you know almost too much of everyone. Where getting a thrill in the town was basically throwing yourself into anything. Even if it meant showing people a side of you no one needed to see.
Looking to myself in the mirror as I fixed my uniform for the diner I sighed. "Come on Ruby, bit longer and you can leave this place.." She tells herself before tightening the white shirt on her a bit. Pulling at the ends she had tied while looking into the mirror.
Another sigh comes from her a bit later as she has turned and looked off to a clock. If she takes any longer she know she'll her the wrath of her grandmother. So once she got everything together she was quickly heading out of her room to leave the INN for the morning rush at the diner.

Regina Mills This is my happy ending... Morning in Storybrooke. There was something about that time that made Regina happy, possibly because she ruled the roost in an admittedly small town. But she had a few secrets that only one or two others shared and those made her feel confident. As she got Henry off to school and left the house for City Hall she admired her handiwork. No one knew. No one knew that this entire town, everything it was, was built on a curse she'd enacted to rob everyone of their happy endings. She remained in power and they remained blissfully wrapped up in their day to day lives none the wiser.
Except Henry and that wretched Emma Swan. She'd take care of that nuisance, never you worry, but nevermind that now.
She walked into Granny's and spotted Henry with his book and a hot cocoa. It didn't bother her as it was still early. He knew better than to be late. She set her bag on a stool and looked at Ruby.
"Can you fix me a cup of coffee to go, please, Ruby?"
There was coffee at her office or she could have brewed some at home but occasionally she liked mingling among the people of the town, making sure everything was going according to plan. She was not a woman to leave many things to chance or to sit idly by while there was something to be done. It was one of the admirable things about her.
"And I'm in a bit of a hurry."

Ruby "I'm pretty sure I'm just gonna screw it up. I mean, I'll screw up with flair, but..." Ruby had got there to the diner about an hour before people started coming in. She had been in the back mostly until every one had began to arrive for the morning meals. When people started coming in she was going about with a cheerful presence to her.
Greeting everyone she knew and trying to make them feel a bit better. Some looking a bit rough for the morning. It made her be as kind as she could to help them feel better.
As she was going about she was chatting it up with the best of them. Pour there coffee cups with the caffeine they needed for the day. Well, or the hot cocoa in Henry's case. When she had left the boys side after giving him his order was when Regina had arrived in there.
Ruby was behind the counter, and her expression went from cheerful to a bit cold with Regina there. "It'll be as quick as I can get it Mayor.." She responded to the woman before she went off to get Regina's order ready for her.
Taking her time though as she went and made a fresh pot of coffee before putting it in a cup to go. When she came back to the mayor. Ruby had a smile at the time she had made her wait and sat the cup down in front of her.
"There you go ma'am, is there anything else you'd like?" She asks holding the smirk of a smile she had.

Regina Mills This is my happy ending... So the Mayor waited. It wasn't like she was actually going to drink the swill so she didn't appreciate having to wait for it and waste her precious time. She'd used the word please, being polite, and was giving them her patronage without Henry as an influence. So why, then, was this taking so long? First she let out a small sigh, hardly audible. Then her foot tapped impatiently. Finally daggers would have flown from her eyes if she'd been somewhere with magic.
When the small cup was handed over Regina caught the smirk and returned a withering stare as only she could deliver.
"Ruby, I'm not sure what in a hurry means to you but let me assure you I don't appreciate having to spend ten minutes waiting for you to do what should have been a relatively simple task."
She rolled her eyes at the offer of something else and left the coffee cup where it was on the counter top. She did not pay for incompetence and that was what this was. Good help was impossibly hard to find these days. It was a shame.
"Perhaps next time you'll learn to move a little faster, hm?"
Her eyes flicked to where Henry sat, her annoyance now transitioning to get him out of there as well.
"You should get to school Henry."

Ruby "I'm pretty sure I'm just gonna screw it up. I mean, I'll screw up with flair, but..." Ruby's mouth gaped open a bit before she smiled. When she reached and grabbed the cup to put it back behind the counter. A sharp thought came into her mind. "I'm sorry, you being such royalty and all..." It had came out with out a second thought before she leaned over the counter slightly.
"I was just trying to do my best. You know, a woman like you shouldn't have anything but a fresh cup of coffee." Before Ruby leaned back on her feet she laughed softly and turned about. Right away she knew it was rude but she didn't like how Regina tried to get to people.
She was a diner girl, not a servant. It got to her with people treating her that way. Even worse was how Regina could treat someone like that in front of her son. Once Ruby had turned away she started to walk off to help another. It was better then being caught it an argument with the mayor.
Knowing it would only make it look bad on the diner. Something she didn't need to happen because it was her grandmother's better business.

Alan GemRiff raff, street rat, I don't buy that... Alan Gem was walking down the streets of Storybrooke as the day was wonderful and bright. He was quite famished as he headed to Granny's Dinner. He enterd the warm building as the door open and he sat in one of the island chair and was looking at the menu. "Hey Ruby! Can I have some coffee please?" He asked as he was looking at the menu. He was thinking of having the breafast platter or the fruit platter.
He waited a bit as he took out a handmade jewelry as it was Ruby's wolf charm. "Oh and I fixed your wolf." He smiled as he handed the wolf to her. He saw Regina and said nothing as he studied the menu as he decide to pick the breakfast platter. He mumbled a bit as he was thinking of what to make with the jewels he had store.

Ruby "I'm pretty sure I'm just gonna screw it up. I mean, I'll screw up with flair, but..." Ruby went over to Alan and poured him a fresh cup of coffee. She looked about at the diner and tried to check on everyone to see if she was needed. Then she looked to Alan and was about to start up a conversation when he pulled out the charm.
"Oh my god!" It was probably a bit over excited but she couldn't help it. Snatching the item from Alan, she quickly looked over the charm. The girl couldn't help but find it so amazing how he could fix something so special to her. Before she would allow Alan to say anything she had ran around the counter.
Quickly going to him and grabbed him into a hug. She couldn't help it how happy she was for what he had done. Even proud at how well his work was. "Oh Alan you are such a life saver.." Ruby tells him as she hugs him then let's him go and stares to the red and white glassed wolf.
"It looks so perfect, your amazing.." Praising him before she starts to go back around the counter slowly. Staring at the charm as she went, find it to be even better then she had remembered it.

Alan GemRiff raff, street rat, I don't buy that...Alan was surprised as he felt the charm snatched from his hand and suddenly hugged by the waitress. "Your welcome. Just be careful next time." He smiled as he patted Ruby's back. He sat back down as he sipped his coffee.
"Can I have the breakfast platter please?" He asked Ruby as he handed her the menu. He blushed a bit from the praise. Alan Gem was Storybrooke's only jewely maker and seller. For the past twenty-eight years, he has been selling jewelry along with making exquisite, handmade jewelry. He loved to look and picked out the jewel and gems that were very rare. Sometimes, he will even fixed some jewelry or charms, like Ruby's wolf.

Alan GemRiff raff, street rat, I don't buy that...Alan smiled a bit as Granny brought out his food and asked her if he could have one on the go. He thanked her as he was taking a few bites of he breakfast meal. He worked over at "The Lost Treasures" with Angelica. He really was happy to have a partner that loves jewelry as much as he does. He thanked Granny once again as she brought out the take-out food.
He finished his breakfast in a few hours as he payed for the meals and headed out to the shop, where he saw Angelica looking at the cuts of a diamond. "Hey Ange, I got you some breakfast at Granny's." He said as he handed her the bag and got his apron along with tying the string. He then went over to where he was working on a necklace, by placing the jewels in their rightful place.
In a few hours, Alan was almost done with working on the necklace as he placed the last piece of sapphire jewel to be placed in the center of the the chain. He smiled as he held it up and examined it. Perfect to sell. Alan got up and started to place it in the front of the store for someone to buy it.
Alan looked at his masterpeice and had a brief moment of a memory that was filled with the hot winds that picked up grains of sands, the weather was hot and always sunny. He shooked his head a moment as the memories fade and Alan was having a slight headache. "Ange I am going out for a minute for air." Alan said as he went out of the shop for some air. He sighed as he was rubbing his head to get rid of his headache.

Jericho, or as some of the residents of Storybrooke call him simply Jer, had experienced that same recurring dream last night. He'd awoken in a cold sweat in the early hours of the morning feeling trapped, as though he'd been in an hourglass with the sand enclosing all around him. He could never recall the whole dream he'd had in his slumber, only tiny fragments here and there that didn't make any sense in his head.
Normally, the unexplainable wouldn't have bothered the man; he was a fan of mystery and enjoyed a clever written twist that he had to work hard to deduce. He couldn't say the same this time around, not when his exhaustion had begun to show on his face and mannerisms in the workplace. He was a community sort of guy; Jericho went out of his way to volunteer for things like that would benefit the town as a whole. He'd always been the kind and compassionate soul that helped out a neighbor or even a complete stranger - which was hard to find in this town - whom he'd never seen before.
When not at his shop known as Tinctures n' Tonics helping a customer, Jer could be found at the hospital or city hall doing all he could to help the town. The twenty-eight year old had only started having the dreams recently and even with some of his most potent herbal remedies he couldn't seem to get a full night’s sleep.
So it was no surprise several hours later that he began his walk to Granny's Dinner. Jer had attempted falling back into slumber but it'd been futile, only doing a few twists and turns from beneath his sheets before finally forcing himself to get up. While more than a little tired and exhausted the man played it off well enough. His dark hair was gelled and combed back neatly as he walked in the cool morning breeze, buttoned shirt tucked into his jean pants held up to his waist with his black buckled belt, and sleeves rolled up to his elbows as his black boots stepped repeatedly over the sidewalk.
The only evidence that could betray his condition was the saggy bags under his piercing hazel eyes. Giving a few waves here and there to other townsfolk the man came to a halt before the shop of one of his friends. He peered inside through the window taking note of the jewels in the display cases in front of him before averting his glance to the front counter. There stood Angelica Teach, the store clerk of Alan Gem, his buddy that he had been looking for. The woman was working so Jer didn't want to take up her time to bother her about the whereabouts of Alan. The man stopped by on occasion if he spotted Alan in the store for a quick good morning and some light conversation before he made his way to open up his own business.
Continuing on his way to the dinner he'd walked two blocks coming up on the workplace of Mr. Gold Pawnbroker & Antiquities Dealer. Jericho couldn't help thinking about the rather interesting relationship he shared with Mr. Gold. Most of the conversations that the two men had engaged in seemed to bring up unique and weird references that Jer felt as though he should have had more insight into but for some reason didn't. Like his mind was clouded over in a fog that couldn't put two and two together, Jer figured most people had experienced that feeling at one time or another in their lives so he didn't give much thought into it.
Jericho was one of the few people in town that considered Mr. Gold an intriguing friend. Hands in his pockets he crossed the street and walked on towards the dinner looking back at the door to Gold's shop only once. Nearing his intended destination he noticed a man exit the dinner and make his way across the street. He wondered if it had been Alan, looked like him even from his distance away. Upon walking up to the door and entering the establishment of Granny's his eyes fell first upon the Mayor of Storybrooke, Regina Mills. It was strange but Jer had always felt a weird sense of familiarity around this woman, like they had met before in another place or something despite the fact that all he could ever remember was being in Storybrooke. The man had come to hold a lot of respect for Regina and actually enjoyed her company whenever they crossed paths in City Hall or his shop. She seemed strong and capable and looked out for the town in his eyes.
"Good morning Miss Mills, let me know if you need any further assistance over at City Hall." he greeted her with a smile.
As he walked past her to come sit down at the counter where Ruby was roaming back and forth providing service for people, when she turned her attention to him he gave a smirk "Good morning Ruby, can I just get a cup of coffee when you get a second. Hey, was Alan just in here by chance? Could have swore I'd seen him head out on my way here." he asked grabbing up a menu and looking at the choices. He'd need about four cups of coffee to survive the day.
