I have no talent with a needle, but my desire to make felt plushies is too strong for me. I'm going to learn to make little 2-D things out of felt.
Lord help me.
I've already almost made one thing. It's a Dewott. Yay Pokemon! It's not complete because the head hasn't been sewed together yet (I'm waiting until I can buy stuffing from… somewhere). It looks atrocious. I might post some pictures.
I don't know why this was so important that I needed to make another post. I'm just feelin' really chatty. And I'm making felt stuff. Woo!

Sewing's actually one of the few tangible art forms I'm good at....

Haha, good luck! I tried sewing a plushie before. It didn't turn out as well as I would've hoped for. :/
But anyywayy. Can we see it when you're done? 8D

you mean 2D or 3D? in anycase *claps*
generally if you dont have enough stuffing you can stuff it with the small unusable bits of leftover fabric instead of cotton or a mix of the two to save on the cotton. fabric bit alone might leave it a bit lumpy...
if it something purely for decorative use and not something you intend to dirty or touch often then you can also stuff it with used plastic shopping bags from when you go grocery shopping or other. this tends to be less lumpy depending on how you stuff it and you are recycling sort of =D though it will make this crinkling noises with you squish it and its not as soft as cotton or fabric bits.
theres really a large variety of what you can stuff it with. and mixing them together could be ok too... tiny pebbles(actual beans or beads could work too) in triple layered plastic bag wrap or simply cloth wrapped and some added cotton = bean bag filled plush.

Thanks for the support!
I can definitely show you as soon as I finish, but it doesn't look very good. You've been warned. O_o

PinkieKitty Thanks for the support! I can definitely show you as soon as I finish, but it doesn't look very good. You've been warned. O_o Haha, I doubt it! (:
I took a Home Ec class a few years ago. I learned to sew. Now I almost forgot everything. ><

PinkieKitty And hey, I'm taking a costume/sewing class later so I'll learn how as I go along. Once you learn the basics, sewing is easy as pie. And Iron and a Sewing Machine will be your best friend when it comes to clothing. -sews cosplays-

I put the string in correctly… but it only poked a bunch of holes in my fabric. Sadness. I wish I could sew cosplay! I collect it over time. I do obscure cosplay, because I'm cool like that. (Delirium from the Sandman comic book series, and Blinx from the old video game Blinx the Time Sweeper).

My first attempt at sewing a felt stuffed animal. And my face. I guess you get to see my face now. And my roomate's half of the dorm room. PLEASE PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE GIRL-CREATURE BEHIND THE DEWOTT.

Its the thread under the foot of your sewing machine(the area you guide your fabric through). The top thread needs to interweave with it to get it to stay in the fabric. Or else you just get holes.

When I get home from college, I'll have to try and work that out. Thanks for the help! Bobbin. I'll remember that.

I sew with manly sewing powers of manliness. yes...
Seriously though, I was forced into a home ec class and sewing was kind of a natural talent for me. I can sew plushes, pillows, and other misc. stuff (the first thing I ever did was fuzzy dice) although I haven't made outfits I fix the ones I rip.
The home ec class also revealed that I'm a good cook as well. >.> some things you learn in school can reveal weird talents you never knew you had
