((Short description))

This city, once on the precipice of a forest, has begun to be overtaken by it. The Oak Motel has been long left untouched, even before the pandemic of Walkers, and the rooms are beginning to be covered completely by vines and greenery. There is scarcely a living soul for miles, but the dead can be found around any corner. The former residents, travelers, all have been turned into mindless, shambling Walkers, including the rather large animal shelter on Route Nine. Although the smaller animals don't pose much threat, they can be equally as vicious.

The largest concentration of Walkers is on Central, the main road leading through the town, since it amasses the most traffic and noise. Once you get into the city and closer to forests where it's quiet, they tend to thin out. Being one of the first cities hit, most of the people were evacuated on short notice and left behind everything they couldn't fit in one suitcase. Many houses are well stocked on non-perishables and since the town is quite rural, almost all of them have generators and back up generators, not to mention there are a few wells that have remained sanitary.
The best option for a safe house is one on the out skirts of town, preferably the Jenson house that has two stories, an attic, a stocked basement, and the Jensons decided to board up most of the ground floor doors and windows before they were forcibly dragged from their home.

The current date is October 23rd, give or take a week or so, and the last few days have been drenching in rain. Today is no exception, at least it doesn't seem like it will be, as the sky is blotted out by dark clouds threatening rain. The Walkers left are once again gathered on Central and a few streets surrounding it, but many have taken shelter in the houses and shops. Even the dead know when it's too cold out.

An RV pulled up slowly towards the city, a small group of people taking shelter in it from the walkers for traveling. A young woman with short brunette hair and piercing green eyes stared out the window from where she sat in what was the makeshift kitchen of their little house on wheels. The silence was deafening, but she kept her comments to herself. As she usually did.

With a deflated sigh, she looked around that the small group that had managed to survive this long along side her. At the ground in the drivers seat and passengers was an older couple, then sitting on the couch across from the kitchenette she was sitting at was a girl about her age, with bleach blonde hair and blue eyes. She looked very un-interested in whatever the others were doing, just picking at her nails.

Then across from her was a young man also around her age with choppy black hair, and glasses that hid his green eyes. When their eyes met he smiled a bit un-easily, obviously bothered by the silence but said nothing as well. returning his smile ever so slightly, she turned away from her best friend to look over her shoulder where two young children slept in the bed at the back, a young pre-teen boy and a little five year old girl huddling together for warmth.

With another sigh, the brunette looked back out the window, keeping an eye out for walkers. With the city coming up, she was anxious. Their ought to be hordes of the beasts there, like there was with most cities. The group had to be either careful or find another way around and scouting another route in the rain was going to be difficult.

"Katherine?"The black haired boy muttered, snapping her away from her thoughts.

"Yeah Ty?" She replied, her voice fairly monotone.

"What's the plan?"

((Sorry its so long and sucky XD))

((Nah, I like long emotion_kirakira ))

Out of the way of the usually bustling central street sat the Oak Motel, a place not even the Walkers found interest in. It had been condemned, and any morsel of food or drop of water left had been stripped a year ago when the order went through to tear it down. Hardly a fortress, but secluded enough that it was a safe place to rest on one of the beds that had been taken back by nature and reduced to sheets of grass and dirt.

There was a little figure hanging from a tree branch that reached just close enough next to a room on the second floor to grab onto, a girl no younger than six but no older than eight, with choppily cut vermillion hair. Her clothes were well taken care of, as well as one could manage clean clothes in these times, if not a little bloody, and she had been outfitted with a ripped puff jacket for the changing season.
She shimmied down the branch, with a small yip when she lost lost her footing on it's trunk suddenly and slipped to the ground. Thankfully unharmed when her feet touched the earth.
She adjusted the cartoon cat backpack around her shoulders and looked around to make sure she didn't attract anything when she yelled, then carefully tip toed around a corner onto the empty street.

((Lol XD Okay))

Katherine pursed her lips in thought, then let her eyes fall to the middle aged man that was driving the RV. "David, stop the car."She kept her voice firm, hiding her doubts easily. Masking herself was a talent she grew up with.

The man looked back at her with the rear view mirror, and even though he was confused , he listened to her. The RV jerked a little as it pulled to a stop, waking the two young ones in the back. Everyone seemed to be light sleepers these days. Everyone looked to Katherine, waiting for whatever she had to say. Ever since the incident, she had been their leader since she was the only one with the knowledge to survive. Which was a long story in itself.

Clearing her throat, she got to her feet and picked up the black gas mask with blue X's on the filters that she always wore outside. It had been a habit burned into her brain to wear it. "I think before we dive head first into the city, a couple of us should scope it out first, to see what we're dealing with."

Most seemed okay with that, but the blonde teen that was examining her nails now complained in a whiny voice, "Out in the rain?"

Katherine looked at her, almost with a glare, and replied rather harshly, "Oh hush up, you're not one of the people going. It'll just be myself and Tyler."

"What about me?" The pre-teen in the back asked, causing her to look over her shoulder at him. He was her younger brother, and there was no way she was going to leave her even younger sister alone with no one that knows how to shoot a gun or a crossbow.

She smiled kindly at the young boy, "Sorry Jack but you've got to sit this on out, just in case there's any trouble." He looked disappointed as his older sister picked up her weaponry, but he didn't argue.

Katherine gathered her quiver of arrows, hanging it around her waist for easy access and then holstered a gun in the back of her short then put her bow over her shoulder while Tyler just grabbed a gun with a silencer on it, and a light crossbow that he hung off her back. Both of them put on their gas masks and started out of the door, though Katherine quickly turned to grab a walkie talkie from the pair on the table and slipped it to her belt. Just in case.

As their feet made contact with one of the puddles that littered the road, the two moved slowly and carefully, trying to make as little sound as possible as they made their way deeper into the city. Trying to stay out of range of any walkers.

((Damn it woman, making me look bad >:O ))

The little girl stuck close to the buildings, making sure her back was always protected by something, whether that be trees or walls, and made sure to avoid open doors. For being as young as she was, she acted well past her age, even in the way she walked. The way her hips pivoted around corners and her feet slunk past one another down the streets slick with rain. She clearly wore the knowledge of a child being raised in dark times such as these, and had been taught to survive as well as any adult.

Her fingers slipped to the construction mask around her neck as she pulled it over her mouth at the rumbling growls of a single Walker, and she pulled the hood of her jacket beneath her more worn jacket of puff over her head. Which, like her back pack, was decorated with a cartoon cat face and ears.
She grabbed the nearest door frame and pulled herself up, nimbly climbing up to the roof of a general store. She kept crouched low and gingerly stepped to the edge of the roof, watching a decayed shell of a woman stumble down an alley way just around the building she had been in front of a moment ago. With a quick glance around, her eyes were caught by a piece of of debris from the crumbling establishment, which she carefully crawled to.

She wrapped her arms around it and started to pull it back with her to the edge of the roof, with no degree of ease as it must have been close to her body weight, and positioned it precariously above the head of the Walker. At just the right moment, she pushed it off and let it crash to the ground, smashing in the shambling woman's skull into her shoulders. With the rock serving to replace her head, she collapsed to the ground.

The process was not without a bit of noise, but wouldn't attract as much attention as a gun shot and less risky than a knifing.

((LOL xD Sorry i get carried away lately XD They'll probably get shorter XD))

Katherine's eyes darted to every nook and crany she could say, always being paranoid out in the open. She and Tyler stuck close to the sides of buildings, carefully peaking into open or broken windows before they passed them. Wouldn't want an unwanted surprise of a walker latching onto your back.

The young woman kept her bow at the ready, preparing to embed an arrow deep into the skull of one of the un-dead at the slightest sign of danger. When the sound of a foot crashing rather loudly into a puddle came from behind her, she whipped around and knocked Tyler over the head. "Would you watch where you step?" She growled quietly, even though she knew the boy was a klutz. Always has been.

"S-Sorry.."He muttered, "I slipped."

((You get carried away all you want gurl ))

The little girl jerked harshly when she heard faint but distinct voices not too far from where she was, her hand instinctively shooting to the strap of her backpack, as something inside it seemed to rustle. Her gaze flew to everything around her, analyzing within seconds a possible escape route, until finally she decided and shot to her feet. She ran to the edge of the roof, pushing hard off of it to the neighboring building that was luckily only spaced by a small gap, and pulled herself up. She kept her body against the roof, watching the street from beneath her hoodie in a position that was easy to see but hard to be seen in. Catching the slightest hint of shadows, shadows of something that stood more erect than a Walker, she glanced around once again. She looked below her to see clear glass holding her up from a pit of dead flowers in the nursery she laid upon.
With one glance at the encroaching shadows, she did her best to crack the glass open with the tip of her shoe without making too much noise, although the smallest tinkling of the glass breaking through and falling to the cement floor was unavoidable. Making the hole big enough to fit her slender body through, she backed up into it, hanging herself for a moment above the plant nursery. It was a bit of a long way down, she began to notice the longer she looked at the brown and withered plants beneath her, but the longer she contemplated, the more her little arms began to shake.

Finally, with a deep breath, she let go and dropped into the glass building, landing on a metal table with wheels with a clatter. She managed balance for a moment before the wheels moved and sent her crashing on her face.

The bundle on her back once more moved, only this time with a small infantile groan.

(( Okay :3 ))

Katherine was about to snap at Tyler for making another sound, but then she realized it wasn't him. It was too distant to have come from the boy standing behind. She stopped dead in her tracks and looked around, searching for the source of the thudding sound she had heard. Peaking carefully around a corner, she spotted a plant nursery not too far away. Looking closer, she swore she saw some sort of movement inside. Was it a walker that stumbled over something and fell to the ground? Sometime the things were too stupid to even get back to their feet.

Looking over her shoulder at Tyler, she nodded towards the nursery to silently suggest they check it out. After a moment of hesitation the boy agreed to it and they made their way towards the building.

The child hunched over herself, hugging her stomach and mutely gasping for the air she'd knocked out of herself. The once quiet groaning started to amplify and intensify until her backpack was crying as loud as possible. It took fa second or her to even get herself off the ground, and another for her to gather the strength to swing her backpack over to her chest.
The pack wasn't so much a cartoon cat as it was a baby sling, modified from one of her backpacks to accommodate a freckled brunette baby that was now shrieking and red faced. The little girl tried to bounce and rock her to get her to calm down, but it only seemed to make matters worse as the infant tried it's hardest to release itself from the snug bindings of it's sling, stopping only for a moment to grumble as it's effort were in vain before belting out screaming again.

The little girl shot a glance at the window towards the shadows from before, then scurried away into a small corner of the nursery with the baby as close to her chest as possible without suffocating her. She pressed her back against a plant rack, her view obscured by pots and wilted leaves, and set to work arranging the larger plants around her. Using her foot to maneuver the plants, she fumbled in the pockets of her backpack until she found a half empty bottle of an opalescent substance, which she promptly shoved into the baby's gaping maw. It took a moment for the crying to calm, but when the baby realized what was in her mouth, she slowly quieted and wrapped her lips around the n****e of the bottle, grabbing at it's sides with her little hands.

With the baby silenced, the older girl shifted her into one arm and used the other to better camouflage herself with the dead plants as best she could. The darkness of the dreary day did a lot to mask her presence as well, and she crawled under one of the table once her fortress of former greenery was set, making herself as small as possible.

((Oh btw, my parents have gone back to shutting off my internet, but for some reason i think they ******** up and it goes off at like 11:15))

the two teenagers blinked in confusion when the sound of a baby wailing was carried to their ears. Then a panic struck them when they realized the sound might have attracted some walkers. From the looks of it, they had two options. One, was find the source of the babies cries, and see if they could help or their second option was high tail it out of there before the dead descended down upon them.

Tyler looked to Katherine to make the decision, and she stood there for a good long moment, thinking. Going after the sound could put them in real danger, and if they got killed what would happen to the other back at the RV? Then again if they left, and source of the infants cry were to attract the walkers, how could they live with themselves thinking that a young child may have fallen victim to though rancid beasts and there was something they could have done about it.

"Damn it all." She muttered before dashing off towards the plant nursery with Tyler in tow. They tried to open the door as quietly as possible, then close it firmly behind them at an attempt to keep out any walkers.

((Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ))

The little girl slipped her hand up the baby's back, carefully running her finger up and down the infant's spine to keep it calm and content while it greedily sucked at it's bottle. She tensed, pressing herself hard against the wall at the just barely audible sound of a door clicking closed. Even with the knowledge a Walker would never shut the door behind them, her little heart hammered in her rib cage, horrifying possibilities running through her mind a million at a time until she actually felt dizzy. The one that scared her the most was the very real possibility that it was another group of humans. She hugged the baby tightly to herself, bringing her knees up gently and slowly until she just a little ball.
She snapped her eyes shut and forced her breathing to remain under her own control.

In such a state of panic, she didn't hear a ragged breath only a few feet away from her.

A Walker, it's bottom half completely severed, clawed in vain at the little girl, quietly growling and chest heaving with grumbling as it batted it's arms at her, just out of it's reach. It rolled back and forth a few times until it managed to roll onto it's stomach and began to pull itself closer to the pair of children.
PostPosted: Tue Nov 13, 2012 6:52 pm

Katherine looked around, pursing her lips slightly in thought as she listened for any signs of the crying child.

"Hello?"Tyler whispered quietly, makng sure to keep his voice down just in case there were walkers around.

That's when Katherine heard it.

The un-deniable sound of a walker, moaning and growling in search for food. Her eyes darted to every corner of the room, frantically looking for the source of the horrible noise. Sliding an arrow into place on her bow, she narrowed in on a corner of the room. Wherever the sound was coming from, it seemed the path was blocked by plants. She carefully used her bow to move the foliage, not listening to Tyler's rambling.

"Kat if there's a walker in here we should get out!" He whispered frantically.

"Shut up you wuss." She snapped back.

'Walker?'

The girl blinked, peeking slightly out from under the table at the figures through the canopy of dead leaves. It was certainly a term she'd heard, although the last time she heard it was from a group of no-good bandits. This thought twisted her stomach, those were the last people she wanted to see.
She shifted the baby around her shoulders so her hands were free, pushing herself a little further from the source of the voices, but she froze when she caught the rotted eyes of the corpse so close to her and her gaze darted to it. She slapped a hand over her mouth to muffle a whimper and started to squirm away, but the undead beast dragged it's body, it's intestines trailing behind it, coming closer and closer until it grabbed onto the heel of her shoe.

She gasped sharply and started to kick at it frantically, refusing to allow herself any louder sound than that. Although her movement disturbed the baby and it whined for her.
PostPosted: Tue Nov 13, 2012 7:26 pm

Katherine twitched once again when she heard the infant whine and she quickly pushed aside the plants. When she saw the walker, well....half of the walker, crawling towards two young children she felt her heart begin to race in fear. Frantically, she pulled back the string of her bow and let loose an arrow, watching at it buried itself in the beasts skull.

Tyler blinked and came up behind his friend, peaking over her shoulder at the walker.

"Is it really dead for good?" He asked quietly.

Katherine nodded slightly, "I hope so."

With that she turned her gaze to the children and knelt down slightly. "Are you alright?" She asked gently.

The girl could no longer contain herself, yelping sharply as the arrow went through the Walker's skull with a hollow thunk and it fell limply to the ground. Her eyes flew wildly to the two teens as spurred herself backwards, grasping at the baby at her chest.

"N-No! Leave us alone!" she barked in shrill voice, pushing over plants in her attempt to back away. One hand still on the child, she grabbed the pearl handle of the pistol tied to her hip and threw her hand back up to aim it at the strange girl.It looked far too big for her to even hold, let alone fire, but the look in her eye said she would, out of nothing if not fear.
