Randolph "Randy" Knighte
Randy rested the baseball bat on his shoulder and walked down the hall. For the most part, the entire building was quiet, unlike the days when he taught here. He stopped by room 209, Mr. Knighte's AP History class. He gave a small smile thinking of the memories he had of teaching his bright young students. He opened the door and walked in quietly. No one was here. Good. He sat at his desk and looked at the folder sitting there. Tests that he needed to grade, as well as lesson plans for when class was to return.
Before the outbreak, his seniors took a test on world history on a average. He opened the folder and opened his desk, setting the bat against it. He shuffled through it and found a red pen and took the first paper, the answer key, and moved it too the side. He read the first name. Allison Grimm, one of his star students. He quickly graded the paper. A 98. Excellent job. He grinned and moved the paper aside and traded the next. Jimmy Smithson, the self-proclaimed heir to Smith & Weston but everyone knew he was full of crap. 94. His students studied hard for this test.
He graded each one of the tests, none of them below a 90 and closed the folder. A tear rolled down his cheek as he put the pen back in his desk took a picture frame on his desk and looked at it. It was a picture of him kissing Cecilia and him holding the camera looking down at him. That was the night he proposed to her. She said yes with eyes full of joy and tears of happiness. He looked at another picture on his desk. It was the year he took his AP history class too Rome to see the sights. He grabbed both pictures and stuffed them in his back pack. It was time to go. The tests were done. He felt closure to the class. He walked out with his bat and closed the door to the room. He walked by Cecilia's room not daring to go inside and walked towards the gym, where the last of his stuff at the school were.
