Jed Life's a game of cards
Jed gentley pushed the front door closed and slid off his leather shoes. He ran his hand through his hair as he sauntered through the main corridor and into the kitchen. Throwing his jacket, which consealed his keys and his winnings from tonight, onto the table. He walked over to the fridge, swung the door open and cursed under his breath. "Buy food. ~Piper" A post-it note read. All that was left was a hunk of American cheese, a six ounce container of milk, and three eggs. He checked the cabinets, nothing. He beat himself in his mind for not making sure his little sister had food. Jed left around eight his morning for work, never returned, and it was now two in the morning. He grabbed the cheese and walked into the living room. Searching for the T.V. remote, he found Piper, sleeping on the couch, remote in hand. She was too big to carry now, so he shook her shoulder to wake her up.

P i p e r if life's a song, your's a single verse. It was the third time this week she had had this dream. But tonight, it was more vivid then ever. It was from her point of view, and time seemed to be moving 700% faster. First, all she could see was her mail box and the red flag up. There was something in the mail. A blur of movement next, and two boxes, both with the same green design, lying on her kitchen table. Then more movement, and a screen with a strange design on it. Below the design was a bar, with a green bar climbing it. She was waken up when the green bar had fully covered the first. "Wha..." She mumbled. She felt herself moving, walking. The next thing she knew she was staring at her alarm clock. It was now 11am on a Saturday. it will start and it will end, but the refrain will keep life going.

P i p e r if life's a song, your's a single verse. She remembered. Piper practically fell out of her bed, in a tangle of sheets, reaching for her door. Once she recovered, she flew down her stairs and skid on the laminate floors of her kichen in her socks. There they were. The white boxes, with a the funny green logo. The logo was in the shape of a house, but it was broken into squares. She stepped closer, but jumped back again at the unexpected sound of her phone. It was right where she had left it the night before, in her back pocket. "1 new message" the screen read. "At work. Bought more food. Don't touch the games til I get back for lunch. -Jed". She sighed under her breath and looked over her shoulder. Staring at her fridge, but she wasn't hungry. She made her way back upstairs, defeated. Jed always knew when she disobeyed him. She fired up her computer, and loaded Pesterchum. She had 3 hours to kill before Jed got back. [go to Pesterchum (page 5)]
it will start and it will end, but the refrain will keep life going.

P i p e r if life's a song, your's a single verse. Piper turned around suddenly, spinning her chair. A familiar song had caught her attention. It was a small brown bird that visited her birdfeeder outside of her windowsill often. She hadn't gotten to naming it, but she cheerfully whistled back to it. Turning back, Piper pressed a button on the side of her computer, revealing a disk reader. She popped the game disk from its box and placed it gently into the spot, and pushed it back in. Immediately, the same logo appeared on her screen, the middle box rotating. A loading bar appeared under it and took its time crawling to 100%. Suddlenly, she shook. Not only herself, but everything. It lasted for only about 5 seconds, but her adrenaline had spiked. The brown bird seemed stable, as if the tremor's radius didn't reach it. It began to sing again, and Piper had calmed down. The screen asked for the Client to connect to the Server, but the message quickly dissappeared. Jed had bought the "Solo" package, including the version of the game that could be played without a Server or Client. Piper plugged her iPhone into the ancient computer, copying her game onto her phone. She could now control the game on the go. Piper stood up and sat down again on her bed, feet on the wall. Piper played around on the phone, exploring the game. Strangely it was a picture of her room, and Piper had grown concerned by this. She located a drop down menu which contained things she could "buy". She first deployed a Totem Lathe. Piper screamed an ear-piercing and blood-curdling scream. The Totem Lathe was ghostly hanging above her, waiting for her to choose a spot to place it. Once she regained herself, she looked frantically for an "X" button, trying to close the nightmare of a game. But her phone would not allow her to. It wouldn't even shut off when she removed the battery. The only application she could use was Pesterchum. Piper cautiously made a space for the Totem Lathe at the other end of her room. The lathe fully materialized when she put it down, unlike its previous ghostly state. The room was now kind of cramped, so Piper built a balcony outside of her window where the bird rested. When she started building, the bird flew into her room and landed on her dresser. She extended the balcony to a platform, and there she placed an Alchemiter. Upon doing so, a flashing orb appeared. Piper moved towards it cautiously, being sure not to touch it. The orb seemed to want something. Following behind Piper was the bird. Flapping around at her feet. The bird must have noticed the orb, because it flew right into it. Instantly, the orb took on the shape of the bird and split into three. One orb was dark, and fell through the balcony never to be seen again. The other was light and ascended out of sight into the clouds. And last stayed with Piper seeming alive. it will start and it will end, but the refrain will keep life going.

P i p e r if life's a song, your's a single verse. Following behind Piper was the little brown sparrow, seeming to be taking in everything. Piper turned away for a second to pester a friend with her questions. A flash behind her caused Piper to spin on her heels. An intense light had caused Piper to shield herself. Two orbs, one dark and one light, had repeled the other and floated beneath Piper's feet into the floor of her new balcony. She had rubbed her eyes and watched the new glowing apparition of her sparrow. It fluttered around her and began to speak. SS: Hello there, Starling!
