The first division training ground, it was a secret place hidden far away from the main city. It was a huge stretch of land that ran on for miles, the edges of this gigantic place were the natural landforms of mountains reaching into the sky. The main attraction was the enormous mass of water, pouring from the tallest mountain was a water fall that spanned half a mile crashing down into a perfect tranquil pool. In the center of this body of water sat an island, it looked like a bright green iris stuck in the middle of a water eyeball. This island was the perfect place to fight, it gave plenty of room to move around into and was perfectly stable. The flow of water fell even further to this place he deemed a training ground, crashing down the edges of the mountain formed a second waterfall, that spilled into another similar place was ruled by thick forests and high hills and scattered about with small mountains that had been made flat platforms by his earlier carving of this place.
The second half of the training area where the other waterfall had crashed into was a plethora of the above stated, carved out areas of tree's now made flat grasslands in perfect circles, small mountain tops that could be jumped on and was big enough to be an arena on its own were carved out for that purpose, and in the center a huge river flowed down with land mass on both sides and at the edges laid the gigantic forests which had spawned this place. The air filled with the sound of crashing and flowing water, thumping against the rocks and splashing above against the rest of the place. He felt this was a perfect spot to fight and train without limits, the wide open are's gave way to unlimited power, there weren't many animals around and if there was any they had hidden in the forest and the first were very far down. The sun was high in the sky relfecting off the water's surface, the place felt vibrant and alive and he often came here just to relax.

Following the events at the restaurant the Captain Commander was leading the way to his training ground, it was nearly an hour's shunpo to reach this place. He was quickly flashing from point to point without even using his shunpo, he believed in the strength of ones own legs and after a few dashes his body had become a straight line, dust kicking up behind him as he was running forward towards the clearing of trees nearly four miles away. The trail of dust had no leader, it was just kicking up for no reason, but in reality he just couldn't be seen by those to slow, he had a lead on the dust he was spinning. The gap between the mountains and the forest was closing the huge cloud of dirt kicked forward just before reaching the training ground and stopped as the captain commmander was ahead waiting for his old friend."This way."
He said loudly in a commanding tone, using his diaframe to really echo his words, he was also proficient in throwing his voice a useful little skill he picked up along time ago. He used flash step to clear the mountains and woods, it wasn't as fast as his straight running but much better for curving around and zig zagging mountains. He led the squad 5 captain to a large body of water, stretching as far as the tree line, or mountain line which was simply surrounded by trees. The huge crisp clear body mass was completely see through, you could see the bottom which was half a mile down, and filled with huge fish. He skipped across the water and stood on the landmass island, it was a huge landform nearly half a mile in diameter. The captain turned to the other as he awaited him to arive he stood at one end of the isle with his back to the water wall, facing the forest and mountain tops."How is this place, good enough for a small challange?"

As he followed, he let his eyes roam a bit, admiring the land and all it had to offer. He was using shunpo, but that took little to no enermy for him so all was well. At the first sight of the water, Gabriel smiled, but at the sight of the giant fish he blinked slightly. "such big fish...wonder what they eat." As he landed, opposite Marrock, he knelt in a sort of crouching position. Lifting his head, he looked around the area, the flatness of it making him smile.
"Alright, this place looks like it'll do just fine." Standing to his full height, Gabriel waved to the other, his friendly demeanor slowly slipping away as his hand fell to rest on his blade. "Let's get started shall we.." It wasn't really a question, more of a statement. As he unsheathed his blade, Gabriel let his smile fall completely, his once cheerful eyes now cold and analytical. "your training grounds, you make the first move." He unsheathed his blade, holding it at his side with no stance, his gaze unending as he stared at the other, smoky grey eyes almost swirling, like staring into the calm before a tornado.

Marrock let out a small laugh, through light silver eyes they shifted downward, to his right arm he grabbed the vambrace and tightened the strap just a small amount, fixing the long black sleeve so it was slightly baggy and hanging off his wrist. Then to the left, his eyes scanning his arm, finding the sleeve was too tight. He made it more comfortable by fixing his left vambrace, breathing easy he was taking his time to get ready. He smoothed out his warrior kimono dragging his hands along the white outlining of his attire and fixing the sash of his Captains haori so it was tight around hind his chest once again. Moving down he made sure his greaves were alright, and the boots he wore were tied tightly for the up coming battle. He didn't want any loose end in this spar nor any mishaps. He checked all the cards on the table so to speak, and made sure there was nothing to blame for failure but him. He kicked off some dust from the sides of his pants leg and made sure the three kunai he kept where in place and readily accessible.
“Yes, of course. Thank you for letting me go first.” He said in an upbeat tone, his eyes softened as his lips were still the hints of a smile he was sure to make this a friendly battle. The master martial artist placed his right foot forward, the beginning of every punch starts at the feet, and he was dominantly right handed so the strong went first. His left foot was placed in the back for stability and support, while his body turned slightly to the right, his back straight and his arms going into his normal stance. What he practiced every day had become routine and as easy as breathing to do, almost instinct. The right was outstretched, like asking hands, while his left arm was placed across his chest on the bicep. He was using a defensive style, one that was meant for close range encounters and countering, he was to make the first move he needed to switch things up a bit while keeping the stance the same. His eyes shifted as they peered across the battlefield, watching his opponent like a laser, he used the common form of shinigami movement: a flash step to close the wide space between them.
His body flickered then vanished appearing in a single spot then through a dark blurry wind he was in another and another, three flash steps was all it took to get in with in dashing distance. He kept his unreleased Zanpakuto at his left side in case he needed it. He flew forward, with the speed of a cheetah his hands spinning lightly through the dash to keep his opponent off balance; this was normally going against all policies. Dictate the battle, make your opponent move and choose when and where to fight and that the key to victory, but this is only a friendly match. The Captain zipped into the others personal bubble, he saw his blade drawn and went to disarm him or atleast stop the attacking hand. His first move was to grab the wrist of the bladed hand, reaching for it with expert timing, he drove his right hand forward aimed at his chin in an upper palm thrust. The way his arm was positioned would keep a counter strike easily block able, attack and defend at all times. He kept an eye on the feet, the knee’s, and kept his at the ready to block those movements, while if his straight palm thrust hit he would follow through into another strike, and another all at the same spot while if his first move failed and the man’s sword was free he would stick to the plan but adjust slightly so deflect the blade, depending on which angle and the speed he had many different options for each possibility.

Sighing softly, he followed the movements carefully. Once the other was in range, Gabriel took a step back. Leaning back slowly, he pushed off the ground hard, jumping backwards fast. Sheathing his own blade again, Gabriel skidded to a stop in mid air, standing above the water for a moment to think.
composing himself, he cracked his knuckles, looking down at the water for a moment. Taking in a deep breathe, Gabriel used a shunpo to get back to the edge of the flat land. His right leg turned slightly, the left moving further out to solidate his lower body. He brought both hands up, crossing them with palms out, fingers bent as if they were claws. bringing them down fast, Gabriel let his spiritual pressure flow freely, the water behind him rippling as he let his hands fall to his sides.

Marrock was in range, his fist cocked and stance complete when suddenly the would be attack turned into nothing but his stance fixing his hands and taking a step back, his arm out in a flat hand position and his left again across his chest. He had taken a step back because he wasn't sure if the other was releasing his shikai or simply switching stances to integrate hand to hand instead of using a sword. He was a feet back from where Gabriel had landed, eyeing him closely his hands at the ready. He watched the claw like manner in which he used his hands and the water rising as a small surge of spirit pressure flowed around them, but to this move he did not reply. The warrior kept his spirit energy inside, in check, he didn't need it as a display of power."Alright then. I suppose its your move. I welcome you." he said displaying his hand, which was always moving in slight arcs, left and right, sometimes down and up to keep a pattern out of things. His stance was the same as when he started, but he felt like saying something."Its okay to use the tools at your disposal, do not think me at a disadvantage without my zanpakuto." He was matter-of-factly stating the truth, he was an expert and if worse came to worse he could always take out his weapon."People have different advantages in life, using something does not make you less of a man than another, it is simply a choice."

"It wouldn't be a disadvantage to you..." Taking a step forward, Gabriel let his fingers straighten out, his palms flat as he stared at the other. Taking a step forwards, Gabriel pulled in all the power he let out, almost instantly. Tilting his head to the other, he looked at the short length of distance between them, his brain working fast. Taking another step forward, Gabriels movements resembled a snakes, an almost silent movement with smooth motions. Without warning, he dashed forwards, stopping mere inches from the other. he stood sideways, his legs bent at the knee. Bringing his right arm down, he bent it at the elbow, his left doing the same, but his palm next to the left elbow. His attack woul be one were he pushes his elbow out, aiming for the stomach, the flattened palm would change so his fingers curl, which would be aimed just between the ribs. The move was one to knock the wind out of an opponent. All the spiritual pressure that he took in would come out the moment after the attack would connect, so that if it did, the power behind it would be painful and push the other back while taking the breathe out.

"Excellent Posture... but..." The Captain Commander smiled, as the snake swept through the silent field, as quickly as possible and with little sound his movements were like a snake hard to see or even react to. Of course as he had said before this was a defensive stance and the length between his arm and chest and feet were not for simply a show. His eyes were trained on him, he watched the little movements that led up to the final attack, all in rapid succession it was quite the martial arts, but he could have sworn he saw this move somewhere: Perhaps by another ninja. With his right palm out he quickly swept it to the left, his hand hitting the elbow of his opponent and assuming that the palm was on equal terms with the elbow he deflected the blow entirely. Now to reply, his left hand was still at his bicep, straight like a blade and by sweeping the man's attack away left his head completely exposed, bringing his straight palm down in swift chop he aimed for the back of the neck, at the corner, not exactly between the should and chin or at the base of the spine but that piece in between and he did so with graceful percision.
"Hit." He said stopping his hand as if he had air brakes, then instead using his right foot which was still forward from the stance and kicking him in the butt to knock him over. If it connected then the other would be knocked over but of course to save diginity there are many rolls he could do or even a hand stand into a kick to avoid such discrepancy. Quickly after he put a foot between them and resumed his strong fist stance, attack and defend, intercept and attack."Great form, power, it does not lack speed in any aspect. Thank you for taking it easy on me with that move."

Watching the hands and feet, Gabriel smiled, his muscles relaxing as he returned to his original stance. "how lovely..." Pivoting his feet, he turned on a dime, spinning on his heels. Stopping suddenly, Gabriel would send a volley of punches at the other, one aimed at the chest, two aimed at the shoulders, another one aimed at the cetner of the ripcage, and a final aimed at the stomach. If any of them connected there would be little actual damage. But thats all he needed. After the final punch, Gabriel would pull the blade from its sheath, knowing full well the other would have a plan. He steeled his grip on the hilt, so that no amount of counter would let him drop it or even loosen his grip. If none of the punches hit, he would bring the blade down in a wide arc diagonal, so if the other jumped back it would at least graze something.

He watched carefully the sidestep, the turn the spin, his fruity little ballerina dance and immediatly start punch. His hand was at the ready he noted the male was left handed which was unusual but effective considering how low the percentage is for left handed people. The first appeared as a straight punch to the chest, which was diverted with the flat of his palm knocking it away, then the right which he assumed was directed for his shoulders. He used the same hand as before to deflect it and before letting the other get another hit, he sent the blunt end of his elbow aimed towards his jaw at the same time as deflecting his left handed punch, then almost directly after he launched a left handed strike towards the chin, takng a small step forward to put his shoulder into it. If they connected he would bring his right arm, at this point was placed in an arc under that palm strike, and swing it out like a back fist with good stopping power. Then if the fist hit or was delfected he would check his basis from the ground up, doing a mental check list for possible harm then send another straight left palm agaisnt the nose. His fists flow like a gentle stream, with grace, without resistence and a constant barrage one fist after the other. This stream would end with a swift upper cut to directed to the base of his jaw, then return to his former stance but even if most of the attacks missed or were deflected the suprise upper cut normally got them.

The second hit was a bit tricky. Letting the hit connect, he moved with it, letting the power behind it add to his momentum. The uppercut would miss by a long shot due to his following in direction after the second hit. Spinning lower to the ground, he would attempt a sweeping kick, followed up with him pulling his blade from its sheath. If the sweep worked, he would bring the blade up vertically, cutting the other in the process.

He wasn't putting force into any of his blows, every hit. every punch and move was little more than a tap or at the most a light slap. He felt the first hit connect, which was the elbow and it didn't really do much damage, but the second hit was the open handed palm strike, delivered with his left hand, it hit and he went with it which was backwards. The upper cut came just moments after, but he was watching the movements carefully, thinking of his next strike, alwasy trying to stay atleast two moves ahead, but the drop caught him off guard. When his opponent went down to deliver a sweep kick, he watched him, his eyes were following him down and the man tried to sweep his feet from beneath him, the problem was that his right foot being foward and the left back would make it a difficult thing to do, especially with the enormously heavy and super strong greaves he wore, so he let him try and if he wore the normal tabi, sandals, that most shinigami wore his toe would be hurting by the end of the attack with little to no damage done to his greaves."Nice try but-"
He caught the shimmer of light, he saw his hand reaching for the blade on his waist to try and attack, he couldn't let that happen considering its better to stop the attack completely than counter, a life less so to speak. He made a quick movement, considering he was still recovering from the sweep kick against his greaves if at all, it depended on how much power he had put into it, than it was simply enough to step his foot against the hilt of the man's blade, then without missing a beat he did a second kick directly after with the same leg, launching it against his chin while bending his body slightly downwards with his hands alined at the center to deflect or counter any other type of attack that may be thrown his way."But.... it won't work." He said after the swift double kick, the first being to push his sword back into the sheath and the other was to his chin, all within a matter of split seconds.

Dodging the kick, he used his other leg to push himself backwards quickly. Creating distance beween the two, he unsheathed his zanpakuto, scraping it across the ground slowly. His first actuall movement was one where his head lolled towards the ground, his shoulders sagging slightly. Gabriel shunpo'ed around the far edges of the flatland, scrapping his blade on the ground when he landed before shunpo'ing to another place. The scrapes were random, and only about an inch deep per cut, but he had a plan. Each cut got him closer to the other, each shunpo gradually increasing his speed. He stopped a few yards away from the other, his blade returning to its sheath as he held one hand up. The motion he made was one of 'come at me', his head raising to show a gleam in his eyes that was full of mischief.

There was no doubt this man had perception when receiving attacks; therefore he stopped his foot mid swing keeping his stance a solid one, like a statue. He brought his foot down back onto the same position always at the ready and willing to attack, but the other unsheathed his blade and at the point it was drawn he felt the a small degree of excitement, untrue to say the other lacked hand-to-hand but he was much more ecstatic to see his sword play. The soft sound of his blade cutting into the dirt was not an easy one to hear, why drag your blade across the ground it felt disrespectful to an extent even for a tool. His very first thought though was to wonder what he was planning just as the other began to Shunpo, he watched it as a slow dash covering the edges of the island with small scrapes, they appeared randomly to his eyes but where they really was the question. He thought the possibility was to throw him off of where he was while dashing, using them as marker points of where he was at or perhaps simply to get the blade dirty and use this as one would sand, but that was illogical though considering every strategy is not.
He picked up on the increase in speed from each Shunpo to Shunpo, but it didn’t matter too much, his stance followed him from step to step he moved not an inch but simply turned when appropriate and kept his eyes trained for the other to see if there was some attack readily available. When he saw nothing was going to happen and a complete circle made, he figured the other would stop and try and get him to attack, though he must be daft if he thought a real warrior would fall for such a trick and even worse jump straight into it, like seeing a pitfall, the enemy says it’s a pitfall, then jumping into it anyway. Sadly he was that rare combination of brash, brave and stupid even though his body advised against it and he saw no real threat to be made. He sheathed his sword, his excitement dropped and he let out a small sigh. “As you wish, I shall attack.” There was a small breeze in the air, the silent wind running through him as he inhaled, taking in a deep breath and exhaling like a mighty warrior; a deep breath was the key to a calm mind and relinquishing thoughts of impending doom. ”Go into battle wishing to live and you will surely die.”
His all perceiving eyes took in the situation, with his blade sheathed and a hand up he didn’t see him with any stance, after doing an odd but seemingly useless attack he stood nearly 9 feet away or three yards. He ran through situations in his mind but could not come up with an answer for that action, he may have been over thinking it, but he was happy to have the luxury of being able to do so, rather than a man that could not begin to comprehend it, it was a true luxury. He kept the thoughts to a minimum and thought of what the other might do if he rushed him, a simply straight forward move would surely be denied and against his benefit but he thought of an idea. ”A life lesson for you Gabriel; “Rouse him, and learn the principle of his activity or inactivity. Force him to reveal himself, so as to find out his vulnerable spots.” He called out with a small smile, quoting a book he read and a very helpful book at that. As he felt before, letting the enemy move him was not something he enjoyed but was necessary at this moment in time, he had to move or else he was certain the snake would not attack, but in doing this he would make sure it’s the last attack this snake would make.
Marrock smile, dropping his stance, he realized though it was a great defensive move he would need to switch to something more offensive, to mind and body. He kept his arms at bay, down by his sides until ready to strike. He kept his feet still, standing apart from each other until ready to move. He kept his mind a blank, so any information that would be incoming could be processed quickly and readily, that’s when he found the right way to attack, deception is often the best road to battle. ”Get Ready.” The Captain Commander said softly, he dashed forward closing the gap instantly, his fist raised he appeared as if he were about to crash into the squad five captain, but at the last moment he his dash curved and he was off to the side his body spinning as if he were about to kick him in the head with a side blow, but instead when instead of head on he quickly used a shunpo to gain a few feet above him, having dashed to simply distract his foot was level with the others head and even worse off he was to the left of him (making sure to keep his shadow from falling in the other’s view) all within the blink of an eye, that was the speed of this warrior
His body was scrunched, his foot cocked back, with his left leg brought up in what would normally be a defensive manner, but was simply a catalyst, in the next moments without missing any beats he brought his right foot forward in a sturdy swing, like kicking a soccer ball, the soccer ball being gabriel’s head. While his arms were up the left forward, while kicking with his right leg he brought his right hand forward into the swing, using all the momentum of gravity, his lower half and upper to deliver a swift kick to the side of this man’s cheek, instead of the temple which would be much worse, if it hit he would have sent him at least five meters away. If it was blocked, then the man would feel the force of steel toed boots combined with extremely heavy weight and completely held back but powerful force of legs. If dodged which he came expected for, he would use the momentum of that kick to bring himself around and do a drop kick with his left leg, this would have the force of a guillotine dropping on someone’s head, and needless to see would be best avoided and even if it missed and he was sent crumbling to the ground then land would be brought up into boulders and dust and rubble to say the least.

↠ Gabriel Surge ↞ ▸ "If you don't try to save one life, you'll never save any." ◂ ◉ ◎ ◉ ◎ ◉ xx What Gabriel did next was not really a block, dodge, or attack. Taking a single step back, he watched the foot go down, jumping at the exact moment when the foot would be level to him. Kicking off the others foot, Gabriel used the force behind the kick to propel him backwards, to the every center of the flatland. At first it looked like he was going to attack, but instead he did something different.
A red orb charged up in his hands, growing larger and more intense with every second. His words came out a moment before he looked at the other. "shakkaho.." The orb was sent to the ground at his feet, exploding into a large cloud of red looking smoke. In said smoke, Gabriel Unsheathed his blade, not caring for sound if the other heard. Holding the blade infront of him, he stabbed it into the center of the flatland, his spiritual pressure spiking but for a moment. After the spike, a red hue of spiritual pressure covered Gabriel the flat land seeming to rumble, the cuts in it becoming larger cracks as he closed his eyes. Placing both hands on the hilt of his zanapkuto, he opened them, his voice a whisper on the wind. "Gilen..." As he spoke the words, he pulled the blade apart, forming two new blades, both slightly longer.
As he released his shikai, Gabriel force increased three fold. Pulling both blades out from the ground sideways, he watched as the red cloud vanished, the ground in front of him cracking and ripping as it conected with the rest of the cracks. The force of his spiritual pressure in shikai came down all at once, destroying the flatland. Two large waves of spiritual pressure sent waves out at either side of him, the flatland all but exploding into debris. Gabriel watched as the chunks rose and fell into the water, sending it up higher into the air. As the crystal clear water rose, it started to form a dome like shape around them, the debris sinking into the water below. Standing in the air that was once land, he looked at the other, the smoky grey eyes flashing like a storm that had just became a hurricane. Holding the blades at his sides, Gabriel raised them to form an 'x'. Inhaling deeply, he stared at the other, slashing the blades down with tremendous force. the water under them crashed up, his spiritual pressure roaring for a moment longer before settling back dwon, his gaze unending.
