There was once a very small kingdom known as Ebecca and though it was very small, the people were happy and the forests were lush and green. The king was fair and the people adored him without fault or fiction, but his son was another case entirely. The only prince and heir to the throne, whom was coming of age within the next year or so, was selfish and his temper was well-known throughout the kingdom for being very touchy. The people tolerated him at best and he had very few friends that he actually considered to be trustworthy; one of which was his personal manservant and childhood playmate. Though the prince was famous for his temper, he was also famous for his startling ability to track wild game during any season of the year in any sort of weather.
During one such hunt he was using his falcon to help him track some game to bring back to the palace in hopes of impressing a princess that had come from the neighboring kingdom. This princess that had come was very beautiful, rich, light tempered, and would make for a healthy companion. He had abandoned the group of soldiers and hunters that had joined him and delved deep into the forest that was renowned for its mysterious Wild Mages and mystical creatures that preferred to stay out of sight from human eyes.
Upon coming to a spring, his falcon sat on a branch and glared at a gorgeous woman that called to him to take a drink from the spring if he wanted to live eternally and blissfully. Of course, being selfish in nature, he went forward to drink from the spring in hopes of spending an eternity with the bewitching woman before him. The falcon swooped down and knocked the water from his hands before the liquid could reach his lips. The prince ignored this first warning from the falcon and tried to drink from the spring again, but was again swooped down upon by this ever faithful raptor. After a third attempt, upon being swooped down upon by the falcon, he took his knife out and killed the bird that had refused to allow him to fulfill his darkest desires. Then he drank from the spring in hopes of receiving the reward that she had offered.
All this time, the woman watched him without any sign of emotion, but with pure interest. When he finally had drank from the spring the gorgeous woman before him turned into an ugly old hag. She cackled and told him that he would now live forever, but since he had been cruel to his companion, he would be forced into the form of a Hideous Beast. The ancient Woman then told him that if he wished to become human again he would have to have a young woman fall in love with him for who he truly was and not for his money or handsomeness. He would have to be kissed before the sunset of his eighteenth birthday, which was in exactly one year.
-- ** And Six Months Pass… ** --
For six months after the prince was cursed, his best friend, the manservant, has been playing ‘prince’ with the princess, whom has never actually seen the prince and knows nothing of the current predicament, whilst the king has summoned all of the wizards in the kingdom to try and remove the curse from his beloved but foolish son. The prince would always scare away the wizards that tried to help him until one managed to catch his fancy: a young boy that could understand animals and use simple Wild Magic. The beastly prince then accepted the young boy, who never spoke nor revealed his face to the beast.
One morning while the young boy was preparing the prince his meal in the tower that had been designated specially for the prince, he was singing in an angelic voice that was not of a man’s, but a woman’s, and that’s when things started to go from bad to worse. Not only does he have to worry about her being caught for tricking the king, a crime punishable by death, but also for practicing magic. In the kingdom of Ebecca is was forbidden for women to learn magic. But, now that he knows that she is a woman, many questions com to his mind and he is being torn between turning her in and fighting these feelings that he has had for a while.
