This month we have many challenges going, one is the spotlight challenge for a scary story for Halloween. The winner of this challenge will get a glorious prize and be awarded the title of "Ghost Writer" for the Halloween event

The Guild Sponsored Challenge of the month is writing the best horror/scary story.
Here is the prompt and prizes as set by our Captain Snowblazer
Contest is:

Everyone loves getting the socks scared off their feet, even if it’s a secret. Your test is to write a scary short story. The story must be 100% fictitious. Use real stories and movies as inspiration.
It can take place anywhere, anytime, any location.
Spain, mid 1900, in a warehouse. Or
Japan, 3098, old school.
Use your imagination and go wild.

Contest will officially begin October 1st and will end midnight October 31st. Any entries after midnight October 31st will be disqualified.

The prizes are astounding as well and here they are. Remember, just because you don't place in the actual challenge you can still win!

I will let you know who won what category for this Halloween’s event. First place will get the title of Ghost Writer as it will be a fitting title, seeing as how he or she almost got us to "Give up the Ghost"

Now that the main event is out of the way, let's cover some of the smaller challenges that our guild-mates have put up for us:

We have the "Weekly Prompt Challenge #1 up by malsomnolence
An interesting idea, each week, malsom will post some sort of different prompt every week, it seems like this is to challenge the writers and have them develop their skills even more

Another challenge we have this week is called Three Key Elements Challenge, hosted by Lord Devrayne. The three key elements challenge ends on Oct. 31st, and the guidelines are:
750-1500 words (based on wordcounttool.com)
And must contain 3 distinct things:
Where you were at around 2pm the day you read the prompt
The last food or drink you had before reading the prompt
And one major (not necessarily the main character) based off of the last person or acquaintance with whom you conversed before reading the prompt.

Seems to be an interesting challenge hope you guys have fun with this, I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Three authors will be spotlighted here in every volume of the news letter.
First on the list is:
Remember by Stu-Stu13
This is a short story and very well written, and an interesting read. I highly recommend reading this one if you want something different. I'm not going to write a long review or anything, so here is a link: [HERE]

Second person I will put on here is: Ravingwing011
They capture your attention within the first few stanzas of "Raven's Flight." if you were given the chance, would you take it? This astounding poem will leave wordless and amazed.

The Third and final author is:
Saphira Angira
Her dream sequence is amazing and is well written. It's not your typical writing, but it is really intense. i highly recommend reading this. If you want something interesting and different to read take her Dream sequence into consideration [LINK]
