Alright, some rules to get us started I. follow the rules tab tab What rules might those be? Well, of course there are the obvious ones: Gaia rules and TOS and the guild rules. I know, it should be obvious, and you're probably wondering why I'm bothering to repeat myself. I'm just covering my bases. On top of those two, there are the general event rules, which you should familiarize yourself with. Any extra rules, or ones that I feel should be stressed shall be listed below. II. literacy tab tab The guild literacy requirements of 250+ words per post still apply here, please follow them. Of course, we always welcome more, but try not to write a novel length post full of fluff, alright? If in doubt, you can always check out the thread our lovely captain created designed to help expand your post! III. event duration tab tab The thread may be up, but that doesn't mean that it's open for posting! When the event is open, a post saying so will be put up, and an announcement will be sent out! When the event is drawing to a close, there will be an in-thread announcement a day or two before hand, to warn everyone. The thread will close when a guild-wide announcement is sent out. There will also be an official closing post. Once those go up the event is over and you may not post in the event any longer. IV. have fun! tab tab Stating the obvious again I suppose, but we really do want you to have fun! Go get involved! V. the event tab tab Alright, this is where is gets complicated. Instead of a dance this year, we will be having a Halloween scavenger hunt! There are various items hidden around the forest, each one worth points. Your task as a participant is to find them, whether alone or in a team. A team may consist of a maximum of four characters only! Gods, although welcome to post, may not take part in the scavenger hunt! Please PM me any teams your character(s) is/are in, as well as any changes to said team (drop-out/backstabbers, in-event editions, ect)
In order to make it fair for everyone, and since this is a contest there will be rules regarding what your character finds.
these rules are as listed below:When searching for an item, you must roll Ten 10-sided dice to decide the results of your search.
tab tab If the number is between 10 and 15 or 95 and 100 you/your team finds an item worth ten points.
tab tab If the number is between 16 and 25 or 85 and 94 you/your team finds an item worth five points.
tab tab If the number is between 40 and 55 you/your team finds an item worth 1 point.
tab tab If the number is between 26 and 39 you/your team falls into a trap (have creativity with this one!).
tab tab If the number is between 70 and 84 you/your team runs into a monster (the higher the number, the harder the monster is to defeat!).
tab tab If the number is between 56 and 69 you/your team finds nothing.
In regards to how often you are allowed to roll:
tab tab If your character is alone: You may roll every fifth post (these posts must be substantial, no spinning around in circles!).
tab tab If your character is in a team of two: One person on the team may roll every fifth post for the team on the condition that both team mates have posted twice since the last roll.
tab tab If your character is in a team of three or four: One person on the team may roll every fifth post for the team on the condition that every team mate has posted at least once since the last roll.
As well, keep in mind, there are only a certain number of items. If all the items of a particular point value have been found, you will find nothing!
Just to spice it up a little, backstabbing is allowed, as is trying to steal items from other teams, just make sure to follow the rules and not god mod! V. the safety zone tab tab Because we realize that a scavenger hunt may not be for everyone, but you may still want to participate, there will be a safety zone where the food and drinks are. If your character is there, they are safe from monster attacks (there is a barrier up, monsters can't get through). This is place to go if you want to participate in the event, but not the scavenger hunt part of it, or if your character gets injured during it and chooses not to continue. A team/character may rest here, but they may not leave any items they have found here, those must be carried with them. Teams must stay together! (a.k.a. a team may not leave an injured team mate here and continue, unless the injured team member decides to leave the team.
Perhaps you want to participate in the scavenger hunt, but you don't want to actually hunt Well you're in luck! There will be a group of campers who will not be able to participate, because, RP wise, they would have been the ones to set up the scavenger hunt. However, these characters have the option of either trying to help the searchers (the "good guys" ), stay in the "safety zone" and take care of injured camper/non-participants (the "neutrals" ), or go out and hinder the searchers (the "bad guys" ). If you wish to be one of these people, please check the standings post to see how many spots are open and PM me.
some examples of how the "good guys" can help: - helping participants defeat monsters - helping participants out of traps - helping participants who are being attacked by other participants/the "bad guys" - give lost participants directions
some examples of how the "bad guys" can hinder: - Getting in the way while participants are trying to defeat monsters - making traps more difficult to get out of - attacking participants in order to try and steal the items they have found - giving participants the wrong directions in order to get them (more) lost VI. once again, have fun! tab tab I don't think I can stress this enough!

Until just over a week before Halloween, nobody had been expecting anything. Sure there had been a cabin counselor meeting or two, and some of the counselors had been meeting up a little more often than usual, but none of that was really unusual, for all the campers knew, they could have been talking about anything: from schedule trades to disputes among campers to alliances for capture the flag. It wasn't until all the campers, both at camp and away, received an invitation that they knew anything was happening. The invitations popped up in the strangest places, but sure enough, every camper got one.
As Halloween approached, the camp was a twitter with excitement as some campers tried to get their teams established before hand, where others sat back, preferring to go it alone, or find their partners the night of. As well, there was the excitement of costumes, who would be dressed as what, who could come up with the funniest/scariest/best costume?
Finally the night of arrived. Although outside of camp, there was a chill in the air, and many people heading out were woefully choosing to wear jackets, at camp, the weather was nothing short of pleasant, and all costumes could be worn in comfort. Participating campers gathered at half-blood hill, awaiting the signal to start, finding their prearranged teams, or finding last-minute team mates.
Once entering the woods, there was no denying that everything had been well set up. The Hecate cabin had done an amazing job decorating the forest. The main clearing, or "safety zone" was decorated with all sorts of creepy and amusing Halloween decorations, as well as being well stocked with drinks and treats for the participants. Floating candles illuminated the area, becoming more and more spread out, the amount of light they provided fading as you walked away from the clearing, until finally there were no candles and you were left with what moonlight filtered through the trees, and a flashlight if you had one.
After a brief explanation of the rules from the campers who had set up the event, the campers were sent out to try their luck.
The question was, who would win, and how would the teams play out? Who would back-stab who, or would the teams hold out till the end?

This is a camp event, and like all camp events, it wouldn't be the same without prizes! So, without further ado, here are the categories!
Winning team/camper
At the end of the event, the team or single camper with the most points in the scavenger hunt will win the prize! (we will be keeping tabs, don't worry!) There will be one prize for each member of the team (in the case of it being a team).
Longest Post
We love encouraging literacy, so this prize goes to the person who makes the longest post! This is calculated using word-count, and only in-character posts will be counted!
Current standings MY rusty h a l o | Chouko Sasaki | 3,242 words
Most active
This prize will be awarded to the member who makes the most in-character posts (as part of the event of course) get out there and start posting!
Current standings Dark Doe Alysse | Six posts MY rusty h a l o | Five posts
Of course, you may have noticed that I never mentioned what the prizes up for grabs are! That's because we're doing things a little different this time around. This time, the winning characters will get a magical item to be used in the role-play! The winners of the scavenger hunt and the longest post will be granted an item for that character In the case of most active, or if the longest post was a post with one of the gods, the winning member may choose one of their characters who participated in the event to award the item to.
Granted items will be decided by the crew/member playing the godly parent of the winning camper!
