All students will be in the possession of special rings, unique to each Rank. Kings and Queens will hold rare jewels while pawns will hold a more common gem. But, the truth is that the rings are a component of a special process known as the "Combat Potential Projection System".
One of the primary functions of the rings is to regulate power, making sure all of the students are held within a certain level of power. There will be special events where these limiters are released, allowing students to fight with all of their power but, for the most part the limiters will remain switched on.
Another important function of the ring is security. During fights, students will be asked to fight with all their strength, not to hold back an ounce of their power. In order to make sure that no one sustains life threatening or serious damage, the rings have all been enchanted with a protection magic, creating an invisible barrier around each student. It’s completely invisible and won’t interfere with any activity, its only goal to prevent serious damage. Students won’t receive any wounds, nor will bones be broken. However, pain is not cancelled and while the ring will prevent death from shock, at most they will simply pass out, suffering a few bruises if they were hit hard.
Lastly, by focusing on the ring, they’re able to ‘feel’ the presence of their allies. Once they focus on the teammate they want to find, they’ll feel a slight vibration, giving them a hint of how close they are.

As stated above, your rank is represented by the ring you wear, the rarest of jewels given to Kings and Queens while the Pawns will receive the most common. Students will be presented with their rings during and after orientation. Below are the rings each rank will hold. Kings - Jadeite Jadeite is given to the kings because it is the rarest gem on the planet. Nothing compares to it in value. Queens - Red Diamond Only a very few red diamonds are ever found. Like the Kings, Queens are elites. Rooks - Black Opal Another rare gem, though much more common than the first two.
Bishops - Trapiche Emerald A pricey gem, offered to the Bishops that participate.
Knights - Saphire Knights will receive Saphire, a very well-known gem that seems to be popular in modern society.
Pawns - Milky Quartz Pawns will receive Milky Quarts, the most common form of quartz.
