I smile to myself as the cool breeze flows past us and I run my fingers through her hair. I gently continue as she snuggles closer into my chest. I smile bigger and look out from the sandy beachside to the horizon where the beautiful water meets the sky. The wind flows by coolly again and messes up her hair again. I lean down and kiss her soft lips and push mine against hers fully and pull her closer as she returns the kiss. I look into her soft sparkling eyes and tell her I love her. She smiles bigger and kisses my cheek and tells me she loves me too. I could stay with her like this forever and be eternally happy.
There is a loud banging on a large wooden door.
“Alrik! You’re late for your training! Get your a** out of bed!”
Quietly I sigh as the dream fades away into nothingness “s**t..” I huff tiredly. “Late for final training, Some Immortal.”
“Hurry your a** up!”
“I am!” I respond, already annoyed as I get dressed and pull my chainmail on and grab my Dark Green Rune-Etched sword and Primeval Shield. I quickly push my door open and chase after Samus.
Silently I step into my place in line next to my comrades. “Alrik! You’re late! Not a good way to start the day. The Immortal War Officer was here much earlier than even I.
“I understand. It will not happen again.” I respond to my commander firmly.
“It better not. This is your last day as a part of Alpha Squad, Men! You will leave today a hero to your people and a member of the Immortals. Or you will die here. Understand?”
“Yes, Commander!” Alpha Squad replies.
“Orix, you’re first.” Orix nods and follows the Immortal War Officer away from the group. Minutes later he returns, scarred and slightly bloody, but bearing the Primeval Helmet of the Immortals. “Keil is next.” The Officer says and walks back down the hall. Minutes later the Officer returns alone. “Keil lost and was Devoured.” He said calmly. “Eilrad is next” he said and went back down the hallway. This continued for some time, leaving to prove themselves and returning with a Primeval Helmet, or being “Devoured”. Alpha squad was down to two people left, Akaiya and Alrik. The officer returned alone again. “Devoured. Akaiya is next.” He turned and walked back down the hallway with her following silently. Minutes later he returned, Akaiya limping and bleeding behind him, bearing the Primeval Helmet nonetheless.
“Alrik is next.” The officer repeats as before and walks back down the hallway. The officer walks into a large room and stands by a pile of Primeval Helmets. “That,” motioning to the shadowy being in the middle of the room. “Is a shadow wraith, one of the Warsaw’s most deadly assassins. In order to become and Immortal, you need to kill it. Win and become an Immortal, or die and be devoured by it. It will not move or attack until it is struck. Choose wisely. Attack when you are ready.” Pulling his shield in front, Alrik jumps and twists downward cutting the Shadow from left shoulder to right hip. Alrik quickly falls into defensive position like in training. The shadow fades away slowly. Slowly, Alrik stands, thinking he’s won. The shadow hissed and dashes by him tearing his leg open. It dashes by him again fast tearing his opposite arm and shoulder open and forcing him onto his back. Cackling, it crawls onto his shield and hisses as it opens its mouth wide to show 5 rows of pointy shark-like teeth. Quickly, Alrik wraps his legs around its tail and shoves his sword diagonally through its gut and out its skull. He pulls his sword out and quickly twists and slams his shield into the shadow and cuts it in half. Silently the shadows whisp away into nothingness. “Congratulations, Alrik. You’ve bested a Shadow Being. You deserve to be one of the Immortals.” He says approvingly, holding out a Primeval Helmet to Alrik.
“Thank you, War Officer. I will not let you down.”
“I do not believe you will, Lets return to the others.” Alrik gets up and places his sword and shield on his back and retrieves his helmet from the War Officer and follows him to the others. “The Immortal trials are over, Congratulations to the Survivors. Do not mourn the lost, for they are not worthy. I will take the survivors to the Immortal base for their new life and training. Good Day, Commander."
“Good Day, War Officer. Farewell, Immortals."
