I thought I'd go ahead and ask if there are any more writers up in Aekea, and whether they knew about this annual challenge. It's called National November Writing Month (NaNoWriMo for short) and it's basically just a challenge to write a 50,000 word novel during the month of November. What do you get out of this if you win? GLORY! That's what. What more could you ask for? Seriously though, check out the website if you're curious. WEBSITE LINKTo a lot of people, 50,000 words in a single month is kind of intimidating. It's a lot of fun to see if you can do it though and I encourage every person who enjoys writing to at least try. I've participated the last five years in a row, finished every time, and have gotten some fun, wacky stories out of it.

I can barely write 1000 words in a day. NaNoWriMo would kill me.

Oh gods, I agree with Rock. ._. I like to write but I don't think I could write a novel comprised of 50,000 words. x_x
I do better in short stories, and monologues. XD

It's actually not that daunting when you break it down. To complete NaNo on time, you only have to write 1,667 words a day. Don't be intimidated by it! It's a challenge, yes, but it wouldn't be fun if it was easy.

Why can't this be set in a month where I don't have so much homework? xd

I agree; I would be totally up for it if not for the fact I'm already so swamped with schoolwork. Maybe someday!

Lol, you guys have nothing on the busy excuse. I've completed NaNos between going to school full time in a competitive medical program, midterms, studying at least a few hours daily, and working part time on top of it. I have no pity for that excuse. None. Anywhere in my body. It died a few Novembers ago.
Phanna - I jokingly refer to them as "crack novels."

Echo you are right technically. xD I don't think my Modern Languages program is as intense as anything medical, but I am a senior taking upper level courses while working some, participating in club activities and trying to work out some kind of plan for graduate school. That isn't to say I couldn't consolidate my time more efficiently or that I never have free time. I just like to use my free time for my other sundry hobbies xD
It is a matter of choice in many ways.^^;

I prefer it when people just come out and say, "Nah, I'd rather not," than make up silly excuses.

My problem is I commit to something too fully. I either have to write, and not just a thousand words, but five thousand words, or I don't write. If I don't write, then I get my work done as usual. If I do write, instead of fitting bits and pieces into my schedule, I sit down and write 20 pages and screech at anything that distracts me, whether it be homework, people, hunger, hygiene, the need for sleep, or a power-outage (true story on the power outage, not pretty). Some people have the ability to put something together in pieces, whereas I will give everything a big, "SHUT UP I'M WRITING," and continue for hours upon hours without caring about all my other neglected priorities. I don't know why I get so vicious when I'm writing. Hence the reason I've stopped writing since school started, because if I get inspiration, which only happens late at night, I will not sleep until I am satisfied. I'd like to write, oh would I, but I've had one too many skip-two-out-of-three-meals-to-write sessions in the past few years. sweatdrop I'll probably have to wait until I literally have a free month before I start writing, and I'll have to avoid all human contact in order to keep heads from being bitten off. xd

Sachiko we beg of you... haha, that's how my mother is about reading books. once she starts a book, she has to finish it. she doesn't stop and pick up where she left off the next day. she just reads....XD I try not to be like that... sweatdrop But when it's a good book and I've been wanting to read it for some time I just can't help but read 10 chapters when I told myself I'll only read about 2 each night... ...Sachiko we beg of you...

Yeah, I get like that while reading too, except I'm not hostile like I am when writing. xd It takes a pretty darned good book to actually interest me. If I am reading something only a chapter or two at a time, it means the book is boring to me. If it's interesting, I read until I realize I have to do something else. Like sleep. I still remember the last book of the Pendragon series... read all 600-something pages without moving from my spot at the end of my sister's bed. xd
