You have to realize that The Elder Scrolls excels in single player, and that these games aren't meant for multiplayer. Trying to create multiplayer on such a massive game is relatively... well, you've seen the results. Maybe on Morrowind or Oblivion it would be easier, but even then, the game is best when played solo, like it's meant to be.
And that's why Elder Scrolls Online is being made: to bastardize one of the good single player fantasy franchises I can think of, for people like you who always need to play with other people.
I was raised back in the day playing solo on most console games unless a friend came over, the only multiplayer I had was for a few PC games like Diablo and Starcraft. But strictly speaking of this franchise, it's strength lies in original and compelling single player experiences, not multiplayer sell-outs.
Watch it come out and end up sucking ballocks like every other generic MMO.
