A hundred years ago, a demon took control of the lower city. His power was strong and he could turn a normal person into a demon. He had fallen for a Priestess but was soon sealed away by her and her husband. Then, five years ago, a digging crew uncovered the demon unleashing his rage upon the lower city. Above, the upper city, built years ago, had fallen to unrelenting sand storms. Many made refuge there. Few stay in the lower city. Over run by demons once more, few have hope of living there once more. Their only hope is to rid the land of the demon once again. Can anyone stand up to this demon and his rampage?

╔════════════════════════════════════════╗ 𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝕾𝖊𝖆𝖑𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝖔𝖋 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝕯𝖊𝖒𝖔𝖓 𝕷𝖔𝖗𝖉 ╚════════════════════════════════════════╝ Elizabeth stood silently as she looked around at the remainder of what was one of the largest battles this place had seen since she could remember. It was a calamity. The blood that had been spilled from both parties nearly enveloped the streets. There were bodies scattered everywhere, belonging to both demons and humans. The screams of men, women, and even children still rang in her ears. Perhaps that was because there were some were still crying out in agony, or maybe it was just her imagination. She couldn't tell anymore.
Matthew came to stand beside her, cradling his arm tightly. A thin trail of crimson blood flowed smoothly down his arm as he stared at his wife. His deep amber eyes seemed to search hers, looking for any hesitation. He hated that she wanted to save that monster. He hated that she refused to let anyone kill him. But mostly, he hated the way she looked at the appalling thing. She used to look at Matthew that way. She used to smile at him, and laugh at his jokes. When had that changed. Suddenly his face grew hard. It had changed when she'd met that, that demon!
Elizabeth looked at Matthew with a sad smile and a nod, then she walked forward, her slender shoulders drawn back to make her appear braver than she really felt. She didn't want to do this, but she knew that she was meant to. So, she approached the demon lord, her steps steady and measured, though her hands shook terribly. When she came to him, she stared into his eyes, her own swimming with tears. Her left hand was behind her, clutching the seal tightly.
The demon lord was being attacked. One man on each side of him. One wielded a sword, the other a mace. They both came at the same time, their weapons raised and shouting their warrior cries. Using his wings, he knocked the man with the sword away and back through the broad side of a large brick building. With the second, he sent out a line of black razor wire, watching as it wrapped around the man's throat and sliced into his skin. The man's eyes widened as he dropped the mace and reached up to pull the wire off, only succeeding in slicing his fingers open. Soon he went limp, and the demon lord recalled the wire, smirking as the man fell to the ground.
He turned around to see Elizabeth with tears in her eyes. Instantly, the anger he felt receded and he knelt before her, grasping her visible hand as he stared at her, various emotions swimming in his eyes. "Elizabeth, my dear. Why are you so upset?" he asked, attentiveness gleaming in his eyes. She let out a quiet sob before slipping her hand from his grasp and stepping back a pace. "I-I'm so sorry..." she whispered as she pulled out the seal. She quickly pressed it to his chest and turned swiftly as a single tear slid down her cheek.
"Elizabeth? Elizabeth! What...No! ELIZABETH!" he screamed before he slowly fell silent and stared blindly at her. She rushed forward toward her husband, but passed him by, tears slipping down her porcelain cheeks. She rushed into a house, ignoring the cheering outside, and slammed the door behind her. She pressed her back against it and, resting her hand gently on her stomach, she cried.
Several months passed and town was slowly being rebuilt. Elizabeth had grown distant to anyone that came near. It was not long before she birthed a child, a son. At first many cheered, thanking the gods for a child born of the two holy leaders. However, not long after she found herself with child again, did the people learn the infant was the son of the demon lord.
A public execution was called for, however none would allow the child in her womb to be harmed. The moment Matthew's daughter was born, Elizabeth was hung for her crimes. The son was cast out of the town and left to die while Matthew raised the daughter. Little did anyone realize the boy had remembered everything of the crimes against his mother.Written by T o x ii c L y r ii c sEdited and Extended by Jade Kadoa

A scream echoed through the barren city. A young girl ran through the streets. Her crimson hair flowing behind her as she ran. Tears streamed behind her as she kept running. The freshly turned demons chasing her. She felt her foot catch a loose stone and she let out a yelp. A thud echoed through the street as she landed hard on the ground. It was within seconds the demons were on her and she let out another cry. "NO!" she screamed. A bright blue light surrounded her and the demons. They cried out in pain before vanishing, leaving her alone on the street, panting and barely awake. What did she do?

A male figure stood on a nearby rooftop, his black hair tossing about lightly on the wind. Red eyes were focused on the girl running down the street, and a light frown shadowed his features. Lesser demons, freshly turned from their human states, chased after her with a ravenous, mindless hunger. Weak, ugly creatures without a will of their own, probably following the orders of their maker. Pathetic.
He raised an eyebrow as she accidentally obliterated the demons chasing her. A slow, menacing smile crept over his face for a brief moment. Though he didn't really care for humans, he had no pity for the newly transformed demons she'd defeated either. She seemed surprised by her own power, which brought a slight bit of relief to him. Had she known what she was capable of he might have taken her as a threat. However, it seemed she was no better than the worthless scum she'd just destroyed.
The half-demon watched her for a long moment in silence. He hated humans. Hated them for what they'd done to him, to his family. It was humans that were the reason his mother had been executed, the reason he was left alone in the world to die. They saw and treated him like a monster, and he had no mind to prove them wrong if that was what they wanted to see. They were easy enough to kill if they got in his way or tried his patience. Though lately, he'd been lying low. A storm was brewing, and not the literal kind. This girl... she was important in some way. Or at least that was the rumor that was flying around, and it was curiosity from that which brought him here.

Slowly the girl got to her feet. She shook slightly as she looked around. No more demons. Sighing with relief she began her long trek back to where she had started. She had to get the food. A movement out of the corner of her eye stopped her and she looked towards it. This was no lesser demon. She stepped back and shivered as the red eyed beast moved towards her. She had done it before, maybe she could do it now.
Slowly she lifted her hands up and stared at the demon. What was it her mother said when she was little? Shaking her head she watched as the demon stopped and glared at her. Slowly it turned and began stalking away. She waited a moment before turning and running down the street. She had to get back home. Back to the place she had called home for over two years now. Her mother was gone, her father, dead. She had no one but herself.

The male watched as the girl got up. She seemed shaky, uncertain of herself or what had just happened. A movement in the corner of his vision alerted him to another demon. This wasn't one of the turned humans, however. It was still a dim-witted breed, but it was well above their league in power. If it were to attack, the girl didn't stand a chance, not in her current state. That little burst of power may have destroyed those worthless whelps, but it wouldn't kill this one in one shot. Not that she could even manage to use it again, it didn't look like she knew what she was doing. To him, that may have been a good thing. It could be problematic for him if she were able to master it.
He watched in silence as the demon approached her. A hideous beast really, even he thought as such, but the better looking demons wouldn't be out and about with this kind of messy business. They were above such petty behavior, well at least the few he'd met and dealt with seemed to be. The girl was acting brave. It looked like she was trying to summon her power again, but the red-eyed male could tell she didn't have any control of it. The beast demon however was not aware, and fell for her threat. He watched it turn away, leaving the girl to flee.
As little interested in her as he found himself wanting to be, the half demon decided it would be better, for his sake to follow her. He had to at least make sure she didn't master her use of that power. However, wanted to be discreet in following her. He would need a disguise, even though she wouldn't recognize him anyway. Closing his eyes, he muttered something to himself, shrinking into a cloud of black feathers as dark wings spread and a small bird flew after her, keeping high enough not to be seen. In this form, he would follow her home. He would watch her for now, and not make contact until the time was right.
If she were to be a threat or of no use for him, he could always kill her. Being half-demon he did share their taste for human flesh. He glided on the air above her, smooth as though he'd done it a thousand times. This was no challenge for him.

The girl stopped when she reached her starting point. A bag full of food lay on the street. Most of the food was not of good quality. She picked up her bag and made her way home. Her eyes were half open as she walked now. She was no longer fully aware of anything around her. Too tired to worry about being followed, she slipped into an old building that looked too weak to stand on its own foundation.
As soon as she was able to, she collapsed on her moth eaten bed. As she laid there, she could hear one of the apples roll across the floor and down a set of stairs. She closed her eyes and quickly slipped into a deep slumber. She had weakened herself using a power she had no control over. Her skin had paled quite a bit. It would be a day or so before she would be back up to her full strength.

Deciding not to follow to closely lest he be seen and thought suspicious, the half demon landed among the wasted food on the ground left by the girl, the food that was no longer of use to her due to being ruined. He pecked at some of it, partly a response to being in the form of a black bird, and partly because he hadn't eaten in a while, though he wouldn't be caught dead in his normal form eating trash off the ground. It was part of the disguise.
He watched her walking onward, and it seemed she still hadn't noticed him. Shaking his head, he flung a bit of food away that was stuck to his beak, and then took flight again, following the girl back to her home. He watched from outside as she entered the old run down house. A dreadfully decrepit building, but not that it bothered him much. He perched on the roof, reverting to his normal form, keeping an eye on the house, senses alert. Now, he would wait and see what happened, though at some point, if he was going to investigate and figure out what to do with this strange girl, he would have to make contact with her.
But how to do it?

Time slipped by as the girl slept. She felt safe in her dreams. Safe from the demons that hunted her. Safe from the hunger that plagued her. Safe from the living nightmare she was in. As her dreams brought her to the beautiful landscapes of her youth, a strange sound echoed through her dream. At first she thought it was an animal crying out in pain. It got louder and louder before she suddenly sat up and awoke.
The sound was not of an animal. It was far worse. Being on the second floor, she could feel the building sag and give in areas. Her heart plummeted as the creaking grew louder and the building gave in on itself. She looked up as a beak collapsed right next to her, sending up tons of dust. She leaped off her bed and tried to make it to the stairs. As she reached them, the floor gave way and the building began to fall to rubble.
With no time to cry out, she felt herself plunged into darkness, unable to move, and barely able to breath. She felt something crushing her chest and every exhale caused it to press harder. She let out a squeak of pain as she struggled to free herself from the rubble. Her eyes darted around the smoke filled area, hoping to find someone who could help her. To her dismay, the smoke and dust was too thick and all it did was make her cough.

The sudden collapse of the building came as a surprise to the half demon who'd been sleeping on the roof. He hadn't anticipated the house to be so weak as to topple under his weight. He came crashing down along with the rubble and debris, landing on top of the girl amid the destruction. A cloud of dust had arisen in the ruin of the old house, making it difficult to see.
On top of the girl, the rubble shifted and moved as the half-demon recovered from the fall. His forehead was bleeding a bit just above his left eye, but it would heal soon enough. He grunted as he struggled free of the debris, pushing out of the pile of rubble as it fell away from him. Once he realized what had happened, he looked around a little and stood up, turning to catch a glimpse that the girl who'd been under him in the pile.
Well this would do as good as any introduction, besides, if she was going to die, it would be by his hands, not some unfortunate accident. He reached into the pile, found her arm, and hauled her to her feet, letting the dust and broken wood fall off her to the ground. She seemed okay, as though his body had shielded her from harm in the fall.

The girl felt movement above her before a lot of the weight was taken off of her. She coughed and took in a deep breath of air before she felt herself being pulled to her feet. Stumbling against the debris, she fell against his chest. At first she was too confused to know what was going on. Soon though, she realized that she had been saved by some man. Her green eyes looked up and caught his.
A bright red flush reached her cheeks and she pulled away. "Th-thank you." she stammered as she tried to keep herself steady. The house was in complete ruin and all she could do was think about how she would find a new place to live. Maybe she can hide a few houses down. Most of them were run down, but she had little choice.

The male felt his teeth clench with disgust when she fell against him. He was taller than her by a good bit, and so her head came to rest perfectly against his firm chest. He held in a growl as he looked down at her, trying to keep the irritation out of his eyes, and a false worried smile plastered on his face. Disgusting creatures, humans, and she smelled rank, of mildew and rot, just like the old building she'd been in.
Letting go of her, he watched her pull away from him after briefly meeting his eyes, thanking him as she backed away. One thing seemed to catch him off guard, she seemed embarrassed, she was blushing, but it wasn't that which caught his attention. It was what she wasn't. She wasn't afraid. She didn't recognize him for what he was. It was probably better to keep it that way for now. Perhaps he could gain her trust, though he really didn't want to spend time with a human that he wasn't necessarily planning to eat. "You're all right, yes?" He asked, keeping his voice smooth and gentle. It had an almost mesmerizing quality to it.
"It's rare for humans to live in this village. What are you doing here?" He asked. He looked around the ruins of the old building with a small frown. It would probably be better for them to get out of the place before it decided to collapse further.

Slowly the girl moved away and began to gather her things. "Yes I am alright." she said, not really looking at him. She tried to get herself back in order. She smiled as she found her treasure box and pulled it out. It was old. A beautifully crafted jewelry box that seemed to be a century old. It was made of purple heart wood and had an ivory emblem on the lid.
Pulling it close to her, she turned and looked at the man. She took a step back and realized finally what he really looked like. He had a strange dark aura around him. "I...Uh..." she began but shook her head. No, a demon would eat her right away, wouldn't he? She looked away and stepped back, not noticing the floor creaking ominously as she continued to back away from him.

The half-demon watched her dig through the debris and pull out an ornate little box. He seemed a little surprised that this girl even owned such an item, considering the conditions she kept herself in, such as living in such a dirty run down place as this. Even he wouldn't bring himself to dwell in such a place if he had a choice. Not to mention the stench. He wanted to get outside again into the fresh air as soon as possible, but it seemed the girl was stalling on leaving.
Looking back to her he noticed her having some trouble answering his question. Not only that she was staring oddly at him and backing away. Giving her a slightly impatient and confused look, the red-eyed male was about to say something when he heard the floor creaking under her. In a reaction that was swift, yet at the same time graceful, he grabbed her by the arm and effortlessly pulled her to him just in time for the floor to crumble away from where she'd just been standing.
"Perhaps it would be safer if we weren't standing in a crumbling building." He suggested, letting go of her and motioning toward the nearest exit. Though he smiled gently on the outside, internally he was quite irritated. This was not going to be easy. He began to escort her outside, to make sure nothing else would happen. "Now if I remember right, you were about to tell me what you're doing here?" He prodded gently. "It seems quite unfitting for a pretty young thing like yourself to live in a place such as this."
