For those of us new to the world of troll, I think a list of basic items every good troll needs would be a positive asset. I'll keep a running list here, so feel free to make suggestions!
Items
Changeling Boy
Changeling Girl
Troll Ears (all colors)
Troll Tail (all colors)
Necrodancer
Quintessence of Decay
Boneweaver
Anyone else have any other ideas?

male trolls don't have a huge need for necrodancer, and for some reason boneweaver has disappeared from the marketplace O.O

Changeling skins are the core, but I personally enjoy using the Captain Ara's nestegg skin, for a darker, more even troll skin.
I also have a great love for Goblin Hipster, with the blue nose, the mean eyes and the mini tusks.

Minotaur Asterion is a lovely asset, as is Daydream Catcher, Kirin Companion and Talsi's sash.

EDIT:
My base troll usually starts with:
Changeling/Ara's skin
Goblin Hipster
Kirin Companion/changeling/barton boutique tail
And lately One hit marksman (Use it for warpaint and/or bruising)
Erlking ears type dragon or cave troll ears (if I go brown troll).
Quintessence of Decay is rather common on my avatars, and I know that God What Awful Racket makes lovely compositions with it.
Paladin of Pestilence, however an underused item, has tons of potential.
The ground item from Galactic soldier.
Viking Love, Warrior of the North, Asena's Pack, Ice Jotun, Wendigo and Berserker Pilot are reoccurring items in my northern inspired trolls as well as my jungle trolls.
All the Native American items works great for plains trolls. I personally love the club from Wild Dawn, and the hair from Captive Zyrma works great with most blue trolls. Very Protective Fantasy armor has lots of minor details that looks good on most trolls as well.
Most of the time I just let my imagination loose though.
If I can afford an item that I think would look good on a troll, I buy it. If I can't buy it, I get the gold then buy it.

I'm actually using the dark elf skin for my troll and it feels like it's working just fine. I'm happy with it. smile
