Personality:
Penumbra is arrogant and is described by some as a sadist due to his rather bloodthirsty behavior. To him, there's something thrilling about game putting his life on the line, and he makes the best of it. If he didn't, he probably wouldn't have lasted this long. He greatly despises the game makers for what they've done and he's determined to escape the game then make them pay. When not fighting for his life, he's actually rather chill and laid back. He can be quick to fight, but also quick to calm back down.
Reason why playing:
Bullying throughout his life turned him to video games at a young age. He enjoyed being the hero and being loved and needed by others, even if they were just programs. Violent video games especially gave him the chance to blow off a lot of aggression he built up from always taking bullying. He eventually got into online games where he could become strong and respected by other humans, unlike in real life where he was weak and always picked on. Online, fighting with those who were mean to you was okay, and he got rather good at it. To him, this had just been another game to get into and rise to the top...
