October, 2009 : The McKey Manor
Piper ended up meeting Victoria during the fall break of her Freshman year of high school, under circumstances she would have never imagined.
Amanda Kayler's mother was a secretary for one of the many McGee family businesses {Or, should I say "One of the less shady McGee businesses"?}.
Her mother, Kelly, had been steadily climbing the ranks of this business, and was getting close with Mrs. McGee. Kelly was expected to be promoted to Mrs. McGee's Personal Assistant soon. Now, this kind of promotion was earned by socializing, diligent work, and brown nosing.
Kelly had been invited by Mrs. McGee to a Masquerade party of some sorts at the Manor, and was delighted to accept. She ended up deciding that she wanted Amanda to be her 'Plus One' in hopes that she'd mingle. After spending a good hour or two dolling her up, Kelly dressed her in a semi-formal black dress with blue detailings, and Amanda, being a lover of masks, had the perfect one to match. Amanda may have been reluctant to go to a party with 'A bunch of spoiled rich kids and their snotty parents', she was seduced by the thought of going of being able to have an excuse to wear one of her masks in public. She also had an inexplicable feeling that this would not be a party to miss.
Finally, Amanda and her mother set out in the cool October air. Amanda wished she had brought a jacket, but her mother refused, claiming that she had none that weren't 'Feminine' or complimented her dress. Piper ignored it, figuring she'd be inside anyway. Sadly, she would turn out to be wrong.

Within minutes of arriving in the ridiculously lavish foyer, Amanda's mother was sucked into the crowd of wealthy and socially elite adults. As she began to mingle, Amanda began to observe the foyer. It was magnificent, the large oak doors leading into a large area with black marble floors and a curving, huge staircase to match. it was impeccably clean, with huge flower arrangements in every corner. A hallway curved off into the opposite direction of where her mother had been herded along through large doorways. It was almost as if the house had been built for giants, with the over sized entrances and staircases.
She snuck her way over to the entrance to the hallway, but before she could explore further she was interrupted. "Hey, girlie..." A man's voice made her nearly jump out of her skin. Amanda turned around to face the newcomer, trying to hide the panicked look on her face. "Hey babe." He greeted her again, his voice taking on what Piper decided was a sleazy edge. Amanda wrinkled her nose, the smell of alcohol wafting over. Her mind deserted her. "Umm..." She mumbled, always eloquent.
The boy looked to be about 16 or 17, his blonde hair slicked back on his head. He was wearing a pressed white suit with a purple tie. It was sloppily tied, and his eyes were red. Amanda stared at him, wondering why he was there. He burped and continued to flirt.
After a few minutes of horrible pick up lines and her personal space being invaded, Amanda panicked. He had already ignored her claims of her mother waiting for her. She wracked her brains for something else to deter the determined, smelly suitor. "Umm, I was waiting her to meet my... Girlfriend." She offered, feebly.
"Girlfriend?" he raised a brow, challenging her weak claim.
She steeled her voice, "Yeah! My girlfriend, we were supposed to meet here."
The boy seemed to take her supposed title as a lesbian as a challenge. "Oh really?" His voice took on a kinder hint that caused Amanda's stomach to sink. "I'll help you find her. I mean, she's gotta be somewhere around here, right?" His eyes narrowed somewhat at the last part, signaling that he, in no way, believed her. He grabbed her arm roughly and took off, out of the Foyer and into the throng of people.
Amanda began to curse her luck.
"How can this get any worse?"

He had claimed to know his way around the Manor, but Amanda's only hope was to ditch him. She jerked her arm out of his grasp, and readjusted her masquerade mask. It was a creamy white color, with raised, swirling designs in blue and silver. It had something that resembled a crown of feathers on the forehead. These feathers were her favorite part, varying shades of black and blue. She pushed it up on the bridge of her nose as if it was a pair of glasses, and played a ridiculously fast game of "Eenie-Meenie-Minie-Moe" in her head. She decided on a door that looked like a service entrance into the kitchen, with various servers bustling back and forth. Some part in the back her mind lit up, giving her hope. She remembered hearing somewhere that had separate, winding passages for The Help. These passages would be busy during a night like this, and they would most likely have various exits. Her best bet was to try and lose the persistent boy hanging around behind her.
She took off without warning, winding her small frame through the throng of mingling rich people in nice clothes. It was easy for her, but you could hear her persistent Suitor stumbling behind her and slurred apologies for various acts of bumping into party-goers. The Distance was increasing between her and the blonde-haired boy. She ducked and weaved her way through the servers entering through the kitchen doors. She heard a curse from behind her as he realized he would have to wait behind the tall waiters blocking his view before he could catch up.
Amanda chuckled, but this acted like her cue. As soon as she heard the boy curse, she found the nearest exit and bolted. She dashed her way, weaving and dodging carts and workers in the hot kitchen. She made it to the door in record time and grasped the brass doorknob. She yanked it open and slipped inside closing it firmly behind her.
~
She left just as her suitor made it out from behind the waiters. He began to search the kitchen frantically, the service getting angry with his intrusion and haughty questioning. Many waved him off, so he was forced to check many doors himself.
~
Amanda found herself in a long hallway. It turned out that her hunch was right and there really were service corridors. Amanda sighed in relief and leaned against the door. She straightened her dress and took off her mask. She began to rest, but only for a moment. Amanda realized that he was most likely right behind, and took off again. She jogged her way down the hallway, trying to pace herself.
She turned the corner, to find another long hallway. She sighed in resignation, feeling that she would only end up more lost if she kept wandering. She continued down, and headed toward a couple that were locked in a tight embrace. Amanda felt awkward interrupting, but the sound of the hallway door opening spurred her on. One of the girls broke the embrace, pretty with long, blonde hair and shocking blue eyes. "What?" she growled at Amanda.
"Do you know the quickest way outside?" Amanda hissed in a whisper.
The girl simply pointed at a door, about 10 yards away. Amanda took off, sprinting her way down and sliding to halt outside the open door. One of the waiters leaned against the wall outside, smoking.
Amanda heard footsteps outside, and dashed out the door. This service exit happened to deposit her behind the Manor... In the dark. Since she had arrived, a thick mist had developed, its curling tendrils snaking their way through the cold night air. She shivered, wrapping her arms around herself and cursed her mother not allowing her to bring a jacket...

Hearing a curse in a voice that sounded like the young man, Amanda panicked. She dashed forward, heading blindly into the dark night and unwittingly into the forest. The Full moon's light was rendered useless by the gray cloud cover, but Amanda still ended up on a small, dirt trail that winded its wandering way into the dark forest. Eventually she slowed her running to jogging, hoping to conserve energy.
The farther she got from the manor, the darker and eerier it seemed to get. Even the wildlife's noises seemed strange. Amanda shrugged, pushing down the fear that had seeped its way into her brain. Whatever it was she was hearing had to be better than silence.
~~~
Amanda hated the dark. The only thing she hated more than that was being alone in the dark. The only thing that spurred her on was what sounded like the far-off shouting.
After walking for what felt like hours, Amanda stopped, She was exhausted and felt hopelessly disoriented. She couldn't see the Manor over the trees, and she couldn't see the trail underneath her feet, only feel the lack of thick grass that coated the rest of the forest floor.
Amanda collapsed against the rough bark of a tree and slid down with a despairing sigh. She would have to wait until morning to find her way back. She took off her heels and threw them blindly into the dark. She buried her face in her hands, trying not to cry. She was so frustrated.
A rustling in the trees instilled terror in Amanda. Her head whipped up and she stared into the foliage above her. Her eyes widened and she squeaked, swearing she could see glowing eyes above her.
Muttered and Slurred curses distracted her fear-addled brain. Amanda stared down the path, her mouth forming an 'o'.
"Hey Girlie~" called a voice that she barely recognized.
She stood up, swaying from exhaustion. Before she could sprint blindly deeper into the forest, she was interrupted.
A thin arm wrapped around her waist and a cold hand clamped around her mouth, pulling her against their owner.
...
A thin arm wrapped around her waist and a cold hand clamped around her mouth, pulling her against their owner.
Amanda struggled, but the arm held her tight and with a strength she could not imagine coming from what felt like such a tiny form. Amanda's attacker took a step back, dragging her with, and backed up until they were against the tree again. "Calm down..." A definitely feminine voice growled in her ear.
Amanda did not relax, but gave up. There was no chance that she'd succeed in escaping, but maybe this way, the girl might have mercy on her.
The voice chuckled darkly as the man's gruff voice came closer. He would see Amanda soon, and she would be practically wrapped like a present. "Poor Girl~" the mysterious girl purred, her lips brushing against Amanda's ear. Amanda shivered. "Would you like me to save you?"
She nodded and honestly didn't expect what happened next...
She nodded and honestly didn't expect what happened next...
What happened next was completed in what seemed like one fluid motion in a matter of seconds.
The girl flipped Amanda to face her and pressed her body against Amanda's, slamming her backwards and into the tree. Amanda gasped in surprise, she was now pinned against the tree quite effectively. Before the gasp was even fully out of her mouth, the girl claimed her lips roughly. She gathered Amanda's hands, holding them above her head with one hand. The girl's knees rested between Amanda's legs and her other hand was grasping the back of her head. The impact caused the tree's leaves to rustle, but surprisingly didn't hurt.
Amanda's mind completely shut down from the sudden contact. Her eyes slid closed and she returned the kiss without thinking. She was practically pushed over the edge of sanity. Amanda began to struggle against the girl again, wanting to run her hands through the girl's hair.
The girl pulled away with a smirk. She pushed away from the tree with one hand and stood in front of her with her arms crossed. "He's gone..." She murmured. Her voice was smooth, and Amanda just noticed her slight accent. It was too dark underneath the canopy of the tree to see the girl's features.
Amanda leaned against the tree, gasping for breath. She stared blankly, her head spinning and her heart pounding in her ears. It felt almost as if she had sucked the life out of her, an apparently pleasurable experience. "What?.." She mumbled, oh-so eloquently. She had no idea that her stalker had seen them, let alone react or leave, but she really didn't care. She was... Distracted to say the least.
The girl simply raised a delicate brow in response. She leaned in closer and stared intently, seemingly studying Amanda's eyes.Amanda's breathing, just then returning to normal, hitched. Her face reddened and her eyes widened. She attempted to flatten farther into the tree.
The girl smirked at her again, and her eyes seemed to flash. Amanda found herself leaning in, her body moving on its own. She like a little bird caught in the gaze of a snake, she couldn't move away.
The girl pulled away again, breaking the spell that Amanda was under. Amanda's eyelids fluttered and she found herself able to breathe. She collapsed against the rough bark of the tree, reminding herself to never do that again. She squeezed her eyes shut, waiting for whatever was to happen next.
PostPosted: Sun Sep 30, 2012 10:03 am
The girl grabbed Amanda's hand without warning and tugged her forward. Her hand was cold and smooth. The girl took a step backwards into the moonlight dragging Amanda with her too. The light that the full moon cast seem to make her pale skin glow. When the girl's head tilted up to gaze at the sky, Amanda gasped.
The girl's raven hair was fairly short, cut erratically and fluffy. She also wore a mask. It seemed fairly simple until you looked closer. Textured swirls floated their way across the black mask. The mask's only splash of color was a ruby red teardrop falling from underneath the left eye.
Even when covered by the mask, her features were delicate, almost fairy-like. A silver ring ran through the corner of her mouth, amplifying the girl's every expression. Amanda had a feeling that it was needed to be able to tell what she was feeling, as her expressions were subtle and easy to miss. Her ears were cuffed by pewter dragons whose heads peeked over the top of her ear. Their ruby eyes stared at her, and Amanda realized that they, and the mask's tear drop, matched the girl's crimson eyes. Amanda shivered, forcing herself to tear her gaze away from the girl's glowing, crimson eyes.
What the girl wore was strange. By her mask, Amanda had figured that she was another party-goer, but she seemed both under-dressed and appropriate. Although her appearance was neat, her clothes still seemed casual. She wore a beanie, failing to cover her strange ears. Amanda's gaze traveled down, seeing a suit jacket worn over a plain black T-shirt. A red tie was hung loosely around her neck, failing to be cinched up all the way. Strangely enough, she wore black, ripped skinny jeans and leather boots that were covered with brass buckles and rivets. Amanda's brow furrowed as she tried to figure out what was going on here.
Amanda's train of thought was thoroughly derailed when a clap of thunder boomed deafeningly. Amanda flinched and covered her ears. With the clap of thunder, the sky seemingly broke. Rain came down immediately in ice-cold sheets. They soaked Amanda's dress quickly. Amanda stood there, shocked, while the raven-haired girl seemed unaffected by the sudden downpour.
The girl suddenly jumped, as if she had been dragged back to the present. Her eyes locked on Amanda, and her heart skipped a beat. The girl grabbed her arm roughly, She began dragging her off of the trail and into the trees. Amanda didn't bother resisting this time, too tired to fight. The girl stopped suddenly and glanced at Amanda's bare feet. Amanda could hear her sigh in exasperation. She turned and gestured at her back silently. Amanda climbed on hesitantly, feeling awkward. The rain dripped down her face and into her eyes and Amanda sighed, not believing her luck. She couldn't quite tell if it was good or bad luck yet.
She picked her up without any sign of effort and Amanda was surprised. Amanda wrapped her arms around the girl's throat and buried her face in the back of her neck, shutting her eyes tightly. She couldn't help but inhale deeply. Even through the downpour, she could still smell something strange. She wracked her brains trying to figure out what the scent was. It was definitely some kind of herb. "Rosemary and Mint..." Amanda finally figured it out, inhaling again. She sighed into the girl's neck, her scent strangely comforting. A sense of calm enveloped her. The steady swaying of the girl treading through the forest and her smell managed to lull her to sleep, drowning out the rain.
Amanda awoke suddenly, her ears still ringing from the clap of thunder that shook the room. Her eyes flew open to a strange room illuminated by a soft, orange glow. She was tangled in the sheets of a soft bed. She could hear the rain drumming on the roof, and the lightning flashed often, followed immediately by booming thunder. The walls had wood paneling, and had no decoration. The room was sparse and small. There was a trunk pushed against one wall and a smallcuch against another. The light came from an old gas lantern that was sitting on a small table next to the couch. The windows cause her great confusion. There was no hint of the ground, and she wondered if they were on the second floor of a house.
Her brow furrowed as she searched her mind for any memories of how she got there. She suddenly remembered the party, the guy, and...
The lightning flashed revealing the slumbering girl laying on the couch and wet clothing strewn across the floor, including her dress. Amanda blushed furiously and whipped the blankets off of her. She looked down to find her in pajamas, the girl's jacket from earlier clutched to her chest. Her mouth dropped open in shock silently.
She carefully crawled out of the bed, placing her feet on the floor tentatively. She was surprised to see her heels, clean and neatly placed by the bed. Amanda crept toward the couch cautiously as if she expected to find it covered in snakes, She peeked over to gaze at the girl's face. She seemed not to affect Amanda the same way that she had earlier. She was laying on her back, Her hands folding over her stomach. It might have been because her eyes were closed...
With the sight of the girl's face, Amanda's dream came rushing back, full force. Her eyes widened and her hand flew to her neck. She had been running frm somebody, and then she tripped. This girl had appeared out of nowhere and gotten rid of them. The girl had managed to trap Amanda in her gaze, and then bit her. After that, it had all gone black. She realized that the strange, red-eyed girl from her dream was this girl without a doubt. Amanda's hand flew to her mouth, biting back a gasp of surprise. She stared at the girl in horror.
Without warning, the girl's eyes flew open to stare at hers. Amanda yelped in surprise and fell back, the backs of her legs hitting the edge of the bed. The girl stood up as if she had never been asleep, only waiting. Amanda shuddered, realizing that she believed that could have been the case.
"Yes?" the girl growled.
"Umm... The uhh. I was hoping to.. Your name. 'Cause that's what you do. And--" Amanda babbled.
The girl smirked devilishly at her. Amanda clamped her mouth shut. Her heart skipped a beat and she swallowed nervously. The girl pushed her lightly, taking advantage of her loss of balance, and she fell back onto the bed. The girl crawled in the bed and practically on top of her. Amanda's face tinged pink and she panicked, practically frozen to the spot.
"Hush child." She murmured. She flopped onto her back next to Amanda. Amanda turned to her and began to babble again, "But!.. Why? Bed is small, and---"
"Because this is my bed, and you don't wanna sleep on the couch." She interrupted, stating rather than asking. The girl's eyes seemed to flash again, and exhaustion creeped up on her out of nowhere.
Within moments, she was asleep again.
