If her name isn't enough of a clue, Sunny's personality is, well... sunny~! Always smiling, always happy; the young filly is the definition of bubbly. Her level of cheerfulness is perhaps second only to Pinkie Pie, minus all of the unpredictability that is.
Bio
Sunny was born as the daughter of gypsies, her mother and father never stayed in one place for long. They were always traveling, as if carried by the wind. As a result, the young filly grew up among a vast variety of ponies, places, and cultures. Dealers in antiquities, her parents often found themselves owners of many a unique and sometimes magical object. One such object is that of an old Andalusian Rug, which, after much tinkering; her father discovered could fly through the air. As a child, Sunny spent many a time floating about atop the rug; in a way treating it as a security blanket.
As the young filly grew into a foal, Sunny became more and more interested in the cultures of the many different places she visited. Finding an attraction to not only the trinkets and objects she comes across, but the history of those objects and the cultures that used them as well. Taking an interest in their child's aspirations, Sunny's parents fully supported her studies; searching far and wide for any and all literature that would aide in the young pony's studies.
Eventually the young foal grew up and decided to head out to see the world on her own. As a parting gift, her father gave her the Andalusian Rug; allowing her to travel freely with her companion Chen. The young pony traveled the world over, collecting countless antiquities and learning about many cultures during her travels. As time passed, Sonya found herself yearning to settled down and make a home for herself. At the time she had found her way to Equestria, in particular Ponyville. Bogged down by many of her antiquities, she purchased a shop on the outskirts of town for her to sell her worldly wares.

Your typical teenager, Chen is otherwise interested in nothing and skeptic of everything. Slow to warm up to anyone and quick to judge, Sunny is among the lucky few that can call themselves Chen's friends; though he treats it with a manner of begrudging.
Bio
Hatched from an egg in a faraway land; Chen is not your typical dragon. Chen is known as a Long, which is an oriental dragon. Unlike his kin found in Equestria, Chen does not breath fire. In addition, he does not have the instinct to hoard jewels and precious metals. Though he does not have wings, Chen maintains his ability to fly by traveling along the air currents (which he calls ' reading the flow of chi'). In his country, the Long have a 'long' history of being benevolent judiciaries and bringers of the rain (a task done by the Pegasus in Equestria). Extremely powerful Long have even been known to be able to grant wishes of those they deem worthy.
Chen's egg was found by Sunny's father, who gave it to the young filly as an 8'th birthday present. In order to hatch the young dragon whelp, they needed to submerge the egg in a pot of boiling water; simulating Long parents placing their eggs beside oceanic geo-thermal vents to keep them warm. He has been a long time companion and trusted friend to the young Pony. Though he now has the ability to move about on his own, Chen continues to follow Sunny about in her travels.
