BLACK SALT

Black salt is sometimes called Sal Negro, Witches’ Salt, Drive Away Salt, Voodoo Salt or Santeria Salt.
It can be used for driving away evil or negative energies, it can be added to war water.
You can sprinkle it in the doorways and corners of a room or business to drive away negativity or give you protection against bad neighbors
or co-workers. Sprinkle it around your property or garden for protection.
It can be used to cast circles of strong protection.
Black salt has also been traditionally used in removing hexes and jinxes.
A PERFECT ingredient for filling 'Binding Poppets' for a powerful outcome.
Place a black candle in a pile of black salt for Samhain Remembrance rituals, sprinkle Ouiji Boards with Black Salt before use.
In ancient times it was one of the most important goods, used as currency, medicine and obviously in cooking and preserving. The Romans regarded it so highly that they even made a massive road, the longest in its time just to transport it from sea to city.
So how do you make black salt? There are several different ways, which include mixing 2 parts salt to 1 part of another substance; cast iron scrapings, ash from a fire place, charcoal, black pepper or black dye are the most often used.
For my mix, I used the scrapings from my cast iron cauldron, which include a bit of cast iron, a bit of ash from burning things, and a bit of charcoal. In fact, I intentionally burned some herbs of protection on a self-lighting charcoal the day before I made my black salt so that I’d have a nice mix in my cauldron to use – and boost up the protective energies of my salt via the herbs.
I used an old spoon to scrape up all the particles
I got quite a decent amount of ash and scrapings. I removed most of the really big chunks of unburned matter.
Into my mortar went the scrapings and twice as much salt for a good mixing and crushing.
While I did this, I concentrated on protective energies. Then into a labeled jar!
It doesn’t make a huge amount. This batch I’ll save for using when I really need it.
Using what I had in my cauldron, created with the intention of protection, really felt like a good way to make black salt for me.
I have to say, this little jar of black salt does give me a feeling of having something powerful in my cupboard to work with! I like the idea of having it on hand for when I need it. You just never know.
Written by Mrs. BThis is how I make my black salt as well, I use it mainly for protection.
