Thanatos began walking upon the grounds with a determined gait towards his own territory. Rage and Violence squirmed in his robes with anticipation. He had taken them in his territory every time he hunted now. To teach them how to hunt by themselves, how to survive. He was heading more West, escorting his new student, Fool. If the Fool were to look upon his hand, it would begin a swirling black spot upon his palm were the spell-form last appeared.

Thanatos did not merely walk upon the earth's floor as anyone else. He stepped with caution and practice, not stepping in foot-falls or tripping over roots. Walked with an animal's grace. The hunter was starting to awaken. It had been some time, and Thanatos had thought that perhaps he was rid of the powerful conscience for good. However as he began to step into the wilderness, the hunter flared. If one were to look at Thanatos' face it would look more feral. Thanatos's canines would sometimes show themselves, they were shaped to were one could tell that Thanatos had eaten great amounts of meat. Regardless if it was alive or not...

If their were animals nearby, they ran from his malevolent presence. He was a predator, a hunter, and sometimes... a murderer. The moon known as Dxun had served him well in cultivating his ferocity and tenacity to live. While the moon was far more dangerous than this planet is, he would still want to replicate the same training with Fool. Thanatos said in a more deep gruff voice, "We are nearing the final perimeter of my territory, this is your final time to ask or speak."

The Fool followed behind his master, trying to keep up. He had to walk briskly to do so, and his breathing reflected the effort of doing so, yet he never wore out. As Master Thanatos was quiet and graceful, Baron's tread was somewhat noisy and bulky.

"Master," the Fool spoke. "Please forgive my curiosity, but that Cannok? What experiments were you doing to it?" And he was genuinely curious. Even if Master Thanatos didn't respond to the inquiry, the Fool knew it was probably not his business. Just as well.

As they continued to walk, the Fool rather enjoyed it. The life force of each creature and plant ebbing and flowing like a tranquil river in one instant, and a raging rapids in another. He opened himself up to these changing tides, feeling the rodent scurrying away from the predator, realizing only too late that another was waiting in ambush not too far away, its life leaving its body as its neck was quickly snapped. The Fool noted these things, but paid them no mind. It simply amused him.

As they walked, Thanatos began scouting his territory. Taking notice of all the new marks of wild-life that had been created since his absence. The hunter was heavy upon his conscience. It was time to hunt...NO! Thanatos was not to give in just yet. He fought the Hunter greatly, and the Hunter rebelled in turn. It was not as strong as Thanatos's consciousness but not by much. His neck moved sporadically at times, the only notice to the internal battle waging in his mind. So it was with some time before he answered back to the Fool.

"The...Cannok...is not an experiment." He began with great effort, but after the last word he was back in full control. His voice more dark and brutal, "I created a spell I know very well, though I did not activate it yet. As for the reason why...That is a surprise..."

Rage and Violence were squirming in his robes with fear. They could sense the internal battle that was waging inside Thanatos' mind. After a moment they ran in flight, almost jumping out of his robes. Thanatos did not show that he registered their act. Right now he had more worrisome things to take notice. The Hunter could not be repressed for long. The hiatus was making the powerful conscience more desperate to act upon Thanatos' body. To which Thanatos knew that it would was not healthy to prolong the Hunter for very long. His pace quickened, wanting to hurry to the edge of his territory and finish escorting the Fool and the two Drexl.

'I have a bad feeling about this,' he thought to himself as they walked, his master telling him that the Cannok was spelled. He took a deep breath and cleared his throat at the thought. What did his master have planned for him? What was this surprise? He tried to squelch his doubts and worries, for they would be his downfall, yet he couldn't shake the feeling in the pit of his stomach. He wanted to please his master, but at the same time he wanted, what? Revenge? On whom? His father?

He noticed the slight change in his Master's demeanor, yet said nothing. Whatever Master Thanatos's business was his own. And besides, he didn't know Master very well, having only met him the previous night.

"Yes, Master," he said. "I have no more questions."

"Good, because this is where I leave you" He said, as he stopped walking. The jungle persisted as far as his sight would allow. Before it would become more mountainous. To which he pointed at what seemed to be a hill in the far distance. However judging by the size of it and how far away it was, it could only be a mountain.

He said, "I have no doubt that the cave of which you will seeking lies towards that mountain. In either case your hand is be-spelled to find great concentrations of crystal energy. You have some light left. I suggest you get as much distance as you can. While I have scoured this territory of predators, I have no doubt there will be many more on the path before you."

After dismissing his student he turned towards the maturing drexl. He said in the language of Sith, "Go and produce my power. Do not attack humanoids, leave them be. Otherwise, everything else is fair game."

With that Thanatos raised his hand and clenched it, initiating the second phase of his spell upon the drexl. The symbols that were on their heads expanded until covered their whole bodies. Then faded into their dark hides. The spell would grow with the drexl now, feeding them the dark side and establishing further control towards Thanatos.

As he finished the Drexl moved in separate directions to various parts of the planet. Thanatos just stood there, awaiting his own disciples further decisions.

He looked down at his hand, regarding it with mild curiosity. He wondered how it worked, and vowed to look into it once he got back. If he got back. He then stared at the mountain, knowing it was his destination. So far away. So many dangers. So many unknowns. It was time. He shrugged only slightly, and took his first step into the wilderness alone.

'Well,' he thought to himself, 'this is it, I suppose. Whatever comes, comes. I'll deal with whatever is thrown my way to the best of my ability and reach that crystal cave.' He thought these things to himself more for encouragement than certainty. He didn't know the planet very well, and so didn't know what to expect. Nevertheless, he felt a giddy sensation as he trekked through the jungle, dodging low-hanging branches and listening for any sounds. Some distance away from his Master, he noticed the sounds of the wildlife picking up again as frogs croaked their deep song and foreign animals calling to one another.

Using the Force, he detected small game along the trail. They weren't very colorful, and so didn't think of them poisonous to eat. He killed one for nourishment using a stone hurled by the Force. It was surprisingly easy to do, but without any weapons, he had little choice. It was getting dark soon, and he had to find a place to rest for the night. He found a gurgling stream nearby and took a drink of water, cleaning his kill the best he could without any knives or other sharp tools. He then moved away from the stream -- it surely would attract all forms of animal life that he didn't want to encounter -- and found a decent place to build a fire. He gathered dry leaves and sticks to start this fire with, and using the Force, he started a fire. He could use the Force to survive in the wilderness; he had done it before. He withheld that knowledge at first because he wasn't in the jungle at the time, and Master Thanatos had never asked him about it. But it was one of the first things Baron learned. This was similar how his previous master started his training; using survival as a teacher and a guide.

After starting the fire, Baron cooked his kill for several minutes, until it was ready. He doused the fire as best as he could, then climbed the tall tree. It was old; its trunk was wide; easily several centuries old, much like its brethren surrounding it. He settled on a branch thick enough to support his weight. He felt lucky he didn't normally toss and turn, for he didn't want tie himself to the branch in case something attacked him, and he needed to quickly escape. Still, he didn't want to fall to his death on his first night, so he reluctantly took out his rope and tied himself to the branch, tying the knot where he would be able to give it a yank to free himself in a matter of seconds. Then, he wrapped himself in his thermal blanket, protecting himself from the chill of the night. As he slowly ate the gamey meat, he entertained his thoughts.

'A fool, huh?' He thought. Maybe he was. He had survived long enough to make it here. But Master Thanatos certainly had higher standards, and it was Baron's job to meet those standards. Hell, even meeting them halfway would make Baron a better person.

Foolish or not, Baron made a promise to himself. He wanted power, but he didn't want to harm anyone to obtain it. If he had to, he would sacrifice himself to save another. He wouldn't use his powers for ill; only for good. He knew Master Thanatos would not approve. But at this juncture, what could he do?

The sun set behind the mountain, and Baron drifted to sleep, trusting in the Force to wake him if anything were to approach...

~The smell of the dark presence had stopped. This was the first thought that the old one had conceived. Their hated enemy, the...abomination has left. To the majestic Kath hound in gray fur the being known as Thanatos was an unnatural occurence, it was a conjunction of dark energy. The dark energy could be dealt with, what could not however, was the different beings that was apart of one. As soon as the dark being had arrived, it took a great feeding ground that was apart of the Hound's domain. It was not happy to hear that many of the females were targeted and slain, for it's sustenance. Always taking more than was necessary. If the hound new any better from this knowledge, it was that the dark being had sent a message to him. The message being that you are my prey and you only live for my sustenance. The old Gray one had many issues to deal with now that the hunting ground was lost. What was worse, the dark being had started to taint the area. Not destroying life, but altering it to suit his needs. This was destroying the natural balance of things.

So it was with great relief, when the dark being stopped within his territory. However, the Gray one had noticed that the Dark being's taint did not follow suit. Two great unnatural beings had moved into different directions, but one small one had decided to continue towards the Kath hound's territory. This the Gray one could sense. However, the Gray one did not take caution just yet, maybe precaution, but not caution. For the small taint did not realize that the area it was currently taking rest in was Boma territory. They would not take kindly to a new addition. The old gray Kath Hound, with his lustrious and majestic mane lay there, thinking ahead as he would survey the humanoid's reaction to his kingdom of dominance~

If Fool had indeed taken precautions before hand he would either sense or feel the vibrations coming toward his position. It was similar to a stampede, but different to the fact that the Boma were coming straight to him, not to a location of safety. The once only tenets of Onderon had been moved to this location by a wayward explosion many galactic years ago. Now they have bred and fed upon the landscape making the planet their home. One in particular could remember this, he had many scars upon his body. Through strength and perseverance he displayed dominance. Creating many kindred and establishing a certain amount of control where chaotic elements would prove their downfall. While he let his urges and survival instincts think for him, he was to a certain extent. Intelligent. The natural power that this planet provided had changed him. He was a creature of brutal understanding in this planet, but he still could create order where it was needed. And so he directed the leaner, faster of his kind to commense the hunt with a savage roar. Fresh meat would fill his earthen table. And it would be human flesh. A meat that he had not tasted since before he arrived at this paradise.

The young adults knew exactly where Fool had taken residence for the night. It was a prime hunting ground for them. They caught his scent for some time, instilling their need to satify their evening hunger. If Fool would continue sleeping, he would be crushed by their might. For their were many to ensure success. The great Boma had wished for only success in their harsh world. Great honor and battle experience would be dealt this day if they were able to satisfy their leader's wish. So they attacked at Fool with a great frenzy biting at his legs to possibly cripple him before he could get away to safety. The others going around the initial charge to possibly surround him. Their were about 12 total, but only 9 were currently visible.

Baron woke up to a strange sensation from his legs. All around him, ten... No, wait, nine, strange lifeforms were attacking his legs. His blanket, now in tattered ruins, was his saving grace. He reached for the quick-release of the rope and gave it a tug. He turned on the branch and fell onto the ground, surprising his attackers. They were strong and in their element. He was at a disadvantage. He wished he had a weapon of some kind, but didn't dwell on it for long. He had to use what he had with him, including the Force. He reached out for it, flinging one of the attackers against a tree. The attacker was slightly dazed, but quickly recovered and resumed his attack. Baron looked for a rock to hurl at its head, but kept his eyes on whatever was attacking him. He opted for a thick stick and brandished it as a bladed weapon. He gave his attackers a few quick whaps on the head, but the stick broke. Finding an opening, Baron ran deeper into the woods, but the hunters took pursuit. He had to lose them and fast.

He looked around for inspiration and insight. He was fast, but they were a lot faster. He used the Force to get a clear count of how many were after him. They were all after him. All nine. He tried to avoid combat as much as possible, and as a result wouldn't stand a chance against one, much less nine. If he were to survive, he would need to out-think these savages.

He ran towards the water, hoping to use the rocks there as ammunition. It seemed far-fetched, but he could hurl things with the Force, and his aim was very good. He picked one up and waited for his attackers...

The Boma's plan was set. The obvious user of the Force was...unsettling, but the great Boma would not be denied. They had taken the first blow, yet they would were not detered. It was the reason why the Great Scarred Boma chose his hunting parties to be so large. The Gray Katha was wily and smart, he always could tell when the Scarred one would trap him, leading his pack to safety every furious time. He would not stand for this insult, they would hunt this human for as long as he was in their lands. He could not run forever. The Boma was stunned and shaky, but in his need to attain glory he trailed to the back recovering his strength until it was his turn again. The nine sought to bite the Jedi's arms and legs, anything they could reach and crush.

As this happened, the remainder three that chose to flank had circuited around and were now heading toward the human's back. One had chosen his attack from straight behind Jedi, but the other two had angled themselves toward the human's flanks. They chose to charge while the other party began their ascent. To both hamper and try to crush the human to buy time for the other nine now fast furiously ascending. They struck at the Fool fast and hard as they could while upon the rocky earth...

Anger and frustration was building in Baron as the Boma continued their attack. While he wasn't expecting the other three, he wasn't surprised by the tactic. It was one many hunters used to capture prey. Still, it was three more he had to contend with.

He kicked and punched away the attackers, letting his anger build just like last time. He had to learn control, and if he didn't do so now, he could very well lose his life. In the meantime, Baron decided to protect himself using the things around him. Mainly rocks and pebbles. He reached out with the Force, kicking and punching with his fists, and engulfed himself with the rocks. They started to orbit him two feet from him, increasing in speed, slashing at anything that would try to get too close to him. Using the Force, he hurled some rocks at some of the Boma's heads, hoping to at least knock them out, wanting to kill them.

The flanking Boma were caught off guard by the humanoid's audacity to attack through an unarmed vantage, but their was no loss of morale. No, but the rocks were more effective buffeting them. They were too small to do any real damage but they held their job in prolonging the attack. However, slowly but surely they began to evade the rocks. Sometimes taking the Fool's unarmed onslaught in the process, but his strikes were in no way near as deadly. They fought back and bite at the Fool hoping to render flesh and break bone. All the while the remaining nine came nearer and nearer. Their climb increasing in speed.

The gray one paced back in forth sensing this whole occurence. Silently wanting the humanoid to survive. Although he now had taint, the Fool was still proving himself worthy of survival. Though the natural order was clear. He could not interfere...
PostPosted: Mon Sep 17, 2012 12:27 pm

Baron was starting to get desperate. Although he was able to fend off most of the attacks, he couldn't keep this up forever. And his rocks weren't effective. He had to think of something else. What was it that he learned about defense in the wilderness when there were no weapons? Use what is around you. While fending off the attacks, he stepped closer and closer to the burbling stream. He didn't know why or where this thought came from, but he was thankful that his pack was waterproof. Dismissing the thought as quickly as it came, Baron kept his focus, determined to win this battle. He took a step into the water, hoping that these things couldn't swim.

The boma's were becoming far more angry that this humanoid had continued to flee from their onslaught. Therefore their attacks became more desperate. As the Jedi began to retreat, the other nine had finally caught up. Not allowing the Jedi to turn just yet, now surrounding him. Attacking on virtually all sides, they continued snap at him for every move he would make.

The great Scarred Boma was starting to become impatient. The drool that emptied from his jowls spilled on the forest floor. He summoned the stronger of his brood. The hulking Boma began their stampede of onslaught. Creating vibrations in the area. Even the river began to vibrate. The Great Boma expected his palette to be filled. The consequences be damned.
PostPosted: Tue Oct 09, 2012 1:33 pm

The Fool could no longer defend himself adequately. He began to weaken from the continual stubborn attacks from the quick attacking boma. And then finally the Fool began to jump away from the surrounding tide of boma. Seeking to make his escape. Which was when a hulking boma lunged at his feet, grabbing them and crushing the only chance he had for escape.

Thanatos watched all of this, not even trying to help. It would seem this disciple could not handle Thanatos' teachings. Something did pique his interest though. Why did the Fool not draw upon his rage to fight them? Why did he not show his power, like he did versus Thanatos before? It would seem the Fool did not understand what it took to utilize the dark side. The whole point of the journey was not solely for the crystals, this journey was meant to test his disciple's limits and help understand that not everything was black and white and gray. There were other colors to be had, such narrow-minded thinking would not get anyone far. The last thing the Fool, formerly known as Baron, saw was a great scarred Boma with uncharacteristic intelligence. The base desires were there, but it had intelligence to achieve those desires. Thanatos smiled as it fed upon Baron's now dead corpse whole as well as Thanatos' Sith Sorcery infected hand... Thanatos smiled a evil smile. Well perhaps his effort was not a total loss...
