Okay so i just found out today that theres a shortcut into Blackreach when you reach one of the main quests of Skyrim. Elder Knowledge.
Some of you may already knew this. But actually i did not. I've played the main quest line more than a dozen times. And honestly i never knew this.
But. If you go to Riften, talk to Mjoll the Lioness about her Grimsever from the Dwamer Ruin called Mzincholeft. Once you did that, go to this ruin. You find some Bandits outside. Then Dwarven sentinels. Dwarven Spiders and Spheres are encountered on the first level. The Mzinchaleft depths consist of several Falmer, two Chaurus, and one Falmer Gloomlurker. Oh and when you reach the final room theres a puzzle you have to solve. It's actually quite easy. But heres some instructions just in case.
Once you find yourself at the Mzinchaleft Gatehouse you may want to leave your follower behind, unless you didn't bring one. And also save at this point. It may take a few tries. Depends on weather or not you can kill the Dwarven Centurion before it gets to you. (Use you bow as well, duh). There will also be a Dwarven Sphere. Also note that this might be impossible to do if you are under level 20.
Once you defeated all that, and got Grimsever, there is a secret passage that can only be open by the square Lexicon, then some stairs forms, and then Blackreach!
Now once you reach...Blackreach. All i had to deal with is a giant. How he managed to get there? I have no clue. But it should be really easy to take down. Once you completed that. You want to make your way left, fallow...well the yellow brick road. You'll have to travel a ways. But you shouldn't run into anything along the way. When you get close enough you'll find the Tower of Mzark. In there you will find the Elder Scroll.
Once you have the Elder Scroll, Do not forget the Lexicon...Like i did. Several. Times. Over.
You may now complete the main quest line or return the Lexicon back to Septimus.
