That particular quest has been glitched since the game came out. So far the only thing that could fix this is to side with the stormcloaks and take over Markarth (spelling?) or to wait until the next game update takes place and it should fix it. I've actually have had this fixed with the update and have felt your pain. I had a TON of quests on hold because of that and at one point had 50000 gold bounties on my head because I NEEDED to go there. So yeah those are your only two options. Unless you want to aviod the area forever.
1.) Wait for game update
2.) Join Stormcloaks and finish the war

It has indeed been patched, but what you may not know is that the patch only works if it glitched on one save file. I have personally checked to see if this patch held up for a new account and it does not. At least not on the Xbox version. It repatches with every update if it happens again. So far it has needed to be repatched three times on three different accounts.

So personally I am unaware of a permanent patch on Xbox versions due to friends and myself having issues with it after the first patch release.

I never said it wasn't as that is completely possible.

I have Emailed and talked to one of my friend's friend who works on the customer service side of Bethesda. He said it can either be a corrupt save file or a cache issue with the game and that repatching is the best way to help or to try a few quests that rewrites the code in the game and changes the glitch such as siding with the stormcloaks or becoming thane.

But what we have noticed is that with the DLC Dawnguard it does seem to clear the cache and fix the actual problem. So that's the only real fix we have found.

For me I've been in MLG and Game Battles for years now and even was a Ref for one of the Halo 3 events. I've tested Halo 4 and got to say that it looks amazing.

Anyway from what I heard they were throwing around a ton of ideas. A lot of people want like a "Rise of the Dwemer" DLC.

I'm sure when it's like 3~4 months until the release date they should tell.
No no, they WILL tell.

I never had a problem the first time i did this.

But when i made a new one (just for the hell of it) and finally updated it occurred.

But i will definitely try to join the stormcloaks and then doing this quest again. razz
